I've just got back from a relaxing ski holiday in the French Alps. Yes, you've guessed I'm joking lol.
A very hard week indeed, with early mornings, late nights, red runs, bad visibility, snow with one thing in common ... unfit me! I need a week away resting!
We took the plunge back in 2001, our first of many holidays, driving to the Alps with a car full of kids (five) and bags filled with clothes, ski suits and a picnic for en route spilling from every nook and cranny in the car. Arriving was quite a sight with a stream of hotel staff, the kids and me all trailing our belongings into the hotel. We saved throughout the year for this exciting new adventure, but hadn't expected to then pay nearly the same amount again for ski school and equipment!
The weeks ski school held us in good stead, as by the end of the first week we could all ski down a blue run, fair to say some better than others! For the next two to three years we continued to put the kids through ski school, so we could practise getting ourselves down the mountain in a prettier fashion.
I maintain it was one of the best things we could have done for the children, as they are all fabulous skiers (one snowboarder) and can tackle all the runs with some 'off-piste' playtime as well.
Hubby and I tend to throw a few more beverage stops into our day, but still keep up most of the time!
Skiing really is fun, albeit a strenuous adventure holiday, but we laugh all the time at the thrills and spills of the day, this carries on through-out the evening re-living all the days fun and amusement, occasionally at my expense!
First wear of this super Roman Originals knitted dress I bough in the sales see my last post here, I'm really happy with this choice and I'm so glad I was persuaded to buy it. Just added a pair of black opaque tights and my grey Red Herring boots, these are gorgeous and a winner Christmas present from hubby, although I expect he had a little help from my daughters.! Didn't feel too overdressed for the apres-ski, but was glad there were plenty of seats to rest my weary legs - lol.
We managed to somehow win the quiz one evening, and I felt truly blessed to have the kids let me use the prize - a ski massage was probably needed by me the most ha ha! Chilling in my Tommy Hilfiger lounge suit and my Uggs, such a great choice to go to breakfast in, before layering up in my ski suit for the day.
Meal out mid-week, so I though this pretty Debenhams Collection blouse I picked up in the sales would be a great pick, I love the pale pink and grey colourings. Watch out within the next week for me to show this in better detail. Debenhams have a 70% off Blue Cross Sale on now, still time to pick up this cute blouse.
Fun in the snow, waiting for everyone to depart for a day on the slopes. We stayed in La Tania, Courchevel, at a Hotel called La Montana, right on the side of the slopes, ski in, ski out, always the best option rather than a long walk to and from the gondolas.
Not the most comfortable boot to wear or the most stylish, but I think my white Salomon ski boots, look the part for my black, white and pink outfit! You'll see I'm wearing a ski helmet, I've worn one ever since Michael Schumacher had his unfortunate skiing accident, I've got away without having any issues for a few years and felt this was a sign to say "You need to wear one now"! I've stayed safe so far.
Hubby and me in our OK magazine shoot!!! (I wish)
Knee Deep!
After a day snowing we had a pit stop.
It's okay, don't worry we managed to find our way to the bar for a Hot Chocolate with Brandy - well you have to keep your insides warm don't you!
Have you guessed what I'll be doing all week, yes the 'Mummabstylish' Laundrette will be in full swing. X
Watch out later in the week for a special blog post that I can't wait to show you.
Bye for today and glad to be back.
