Five Over 50 Challenge!

Morning all on this May Day Bank Holiday.

How excited am I?
Today is a big day for me and my blog.

What do you get if you put five mature ladies together, five blogs, a few years of fashion experience, a yearning to look fabulous, a zest for life and a varying amount of money?

You get a  Five over 50 Challenge  of course!

Once a month we are setting ourselves a challenge.  We'd love you to join us on the
First of each month to see how we've all created an outfit based on one person's theme.
Today the 1st May our Five Over 50 style challenge choice is this:

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
None of that wedding dress malarkey for us, just check out these blogs to see what stunning outfits are waiting patiently to be mused over.

Something old represents continuity; something new offers optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolises borrowed happiness; something blue stands for love, and fidelity; and a sixpence in your shoe is a wish for good fortune and prosperity. (we've left that one out, maybe a little too uncomfortable in our Jimmy Choo's 😅😂😂)

Launching a fantastic new venture for

My take on the theme had me at a bit of a loss when I first heard the challenge , racking my brains, searching my wardrobe, my daughters' wardrobes, and the High Street stores.
As all women do I purchased two outfits - well a girl's got to have choice and we never know how we're going to 'feel' on the day!
My first outfit I wasn't totally contented with, so went off looking again, such bother I hate shopping!!! Lol.

Wandering through New Look I spotted this jumpsuit, seeing the potential immediately I grabbed my size, paid and left - all the time conjuring up exactly how and what I'd style it with.
I said in a previous post I needed wanted another Jumpsuit, I knew I had to have this one and it's pretty obvious why I love it.

Just look at the colours - you all know how much I love pink, but with blue and orange to choose from this outfit has so much scope it's going to be easy peasy lemon squeezy to wear on so many occasions.  This also fits in with my passion for wearing just one piece garments on holidays - check out my post featuring One piece outfits.

I was so sure on the jumpsuit I didn't even look at the price,  that's knowing your own style right there.  Here's the link and I've just checked it's only £24.99.  Oh and I was right it looked, fitted and felt perfect!

I love the length - a flattering finish mid-calf, giving a very chic and stylish look. A cross-over neckline, which I confess does require a safety pin to hold in place currently. I may put a little stitch here instead, because it already has a zip back fastening - I found this after trying to get it on! (Imagine Harry Houdini in a straitjacket!!! Ha ha ha.)  It also has a long cap sleeve which is also very flattering on the arms, but keeping cool at the same time.  All in all the perfect Jumpsuit.

Obviously that's my New item, now onto the Old.
This H & M off white blazer I've owned for some years now, this came as a present from the children, most probably one of the girls as they know my style so well.  You can never go wrong with a blazer in one of the basic colours - so having an off white choice will stand you in good stead with your over fifty jacket selection.

Onto something Borrowed this stunning necklace belongs to my daughter.  She bought it from a cute little boutique, down our quirky High Street.   The colour and boldness of the design made this my favoured pick although I do have plenty of others that would work equally well.

Something Blue my clutch bag, from my bag collection and picking out the blue in my jumpsuit.  A vast array of colours could go very well with this outfit, including black, white, pink or amber.
I chose my favourite white wedge peep toe sandals which I've worn on several occasions recently including here and here! Coming from Dorothy Perkins, however these are no longer available as they were bought last year, which is such a shame because I wanted the tan option too!
They have some super styles in store and on line, why not take a peek?

Little tip!  With the season of outdoor events, such as weddings, christenings and parties I find it's crucial to avoid the heel-sinking-in-the-grass situation... so by wearing wedges or possibly block heels you can alleviate that problem.

An idea was conceived, created, moulded, produced and accomplished for you all to enjoy.
So, five fabulous ladies over fifty have joined forces in this challenge and their ideas are quite honestly; appealing, quite different, really alluring and truly imaginative - and yes, all from ladies over 50? - you bet and you're gonna love 'em!

Follow the links above to view these amazing blogs, you'll gain inspiration from them all, and guess what?  We're doing the same next month, and we'd love you to stop by on 1st June to view us again in a different guise!

Now remember ladies in our own words - "Age is just a number",   Laurie "We're not ready to hang up our high heels just yet",    Gail "We're sassy over forty",   Anna - "Bin the beige", and
Ashley - "Get passionate about interiors and everything handmade"

Start visiting the blogs now ladies -  you don't want to miss a thing.

Big hugs and many thanks to Esther Ruby for taking some fabulous shots!  Loved catching up with my best friend (her mum) too. x

Back on Thursday, hope you enjoy the shorter week again. X

  7. What a great post Jacqui! I'm a big fan of jumpsuits too, but don't have one that's short like this - food for thought there. I think your chunky necklace is perfect to keep the look on trend. Maybe your daughter will let you keep it?

    Have a fab week.
