Mustard and Grey - with a bit of Silver.

Morning fellow bloggers.

It seems our weather here in the UK has got warmer, however wetter which I'm disliking too!   The wet weather really interferes with looking sleek and stylish, have me negotiating puddles in heels and dodging the drips, even with an umbrella can be chaotic!
Having plenty of ideas of wearing fun colourful outfits in the winter as I do in the summer, but in fact I nearly always resort to wearing my jeans and boots to complete my jobs!

So today I've decided to venture out of jeans and into a brighter styled outfit.
I keep seeing grey and mustard/yellow everywhere, you know how it is when you see something and like it, you then see it everywhere!
This mustard jumper worn over a long line T shirt in the matching colour makes the look more streamlined.  You can catch when I've worn this before here. Mixing this with my grey trousers, these are basic straight leg, fitting on the waist for a more comfortable feel, I've worn these on numerous occasions one of which you can see here. The fur gilet/vest makes an appearance again, it's just so versatile and goes with so many other colours, see what I've also worn it with here
Picking this grey and silver scarf which I feel lifts the outfit even more, bringing a brighter more positive feel to today's look, I started with the scarf around my neck more, but it was quite bunched up so left it to hang lower down.

Just happened to cast my inquisitive eye over Clarks online shop, falling head over heels (excuse the pun) in love with some super gorgeous shoes from Clarks.  So far I've got three pairs in my basket, but I don't think I'll be clicking the button just yet - well there maybe more to add - lol then I'll make my final choice.
Here's what's in so far ......

....... what would you pick?

Grace Mia Dusky Pink Ballet Pump
£60

Eliberry Isla
Ducky Pink Leather
£50

Bronze Metallic Eva Grace
£70

Dusky Pink Leather
Grace Eva for £70

Do you like the new styles? Ballerina styles, court shoes or pumps with a smaller heel and a wonderful cushion insole for non-stop comfort, befitting so many looks what more could you ask for.

Off to Tap class later on - I've got the opportunity to perform in a show in the summer, but I've not made my decision whether to commit to it!  Why does decision making become so much hard when we get older? or is it just me?

Bye for today X

Sharing my knitted dress today.

Hello you lovely fellow bloggers, how are you on this wonderful Monday?

Today I'm sharing that gorgeous grey knitted dress I purchased in the sales a couple of weeks ago.  You can see when and where I first wore it here and here.
Roman Originals have a fabulous selection of dresses, coats, separates and knitwear that are both flattering, comfortable, very stylish and on trend.

The beauty of this knitted dress is that if, like me you feel the cold (most of the time) a little Cami T shirt or even a long sleeve example can be worn underneath without being seen.
The thick black opaque tights are fabulous to cover not-so-great legs.  They can also give the illusion of height when wore with matching coloured footwear - black on black = longer looking legs!

Layered with a fur vest ...  this one I've owned for years and came from M and Co.  Fur vests/gilets are so in fashion now,  I would recommend anyone purchase one for the upcoming season because they bring extra depth to almost all outfits.  I've found this pretty pastel pink example from Roman originals here for only £20! I'm tempted to click and buy myself!

Black dress coat from Roman Originals, previous season,  a rather traditional, classic style that will not date and always looks presentable!

Upon seeing this photo in full, I'm so pleased I'm visiting the hairdressers on Friday - definitely 'due' for some covering up on my 'hightlights' lol.
Throwing on my grey wrap adds more layers to keep me snug and warm, but easy to peel off just in case I get too hot!

Also just noticed it's bin day tomorrow!

Today I've opted to wear these cute black suede tassel boots that I purchased from T K Maxx.  I love having a good old browse in this store, for some I know it's a bit like a jumble sale inside, but I always find so many bargains, especially shoes, boots, bags ..... and you could too!

Matching with the tassel theme I'm wearing a black tassel necklace that I've had in my collection for years, in fact I think I bought to wear for my nans funeral back in 2000.  Buying classic styles always stay in fashion, worth spending a little more for the wear you'll get out of it.

Such is life, but must go now to do some chores!
Until the next time it's been fun. X

Tan Jeans with Pink Jumper!

Hello and what a glorious day it's been today - cold, but bright and sunny.  How's your day been?
Mine,  rather a change from last Saturday when I was throwing myself down a mountain at full speed in a snow storm, and today relaxing at home, with the hardest task deciding to have tea or coffee with my breakfast!

Negotiating what beverage to have in this attire, jeans and jumper as usual, with nothing new except the boots, I love these boots.  First wear and they are so comfortable, slip on like Cinderellas glass slipper, with the added benefit of being a great match for lots of outfits. I'll be wearing these with so many different jeans and jumpers, I hope you wont get bored of them, I'm sure I wont!

Getting their first airing this year, my Matalan tan jeans, fitting high on the waist, great for pulling everything 'in'!  Over these I've chosen a pale pink H and M crossover fine knit jumper.  I've put this over a plain pink vest top, and then matched in two scarves twisted together - one plain, the other floral cotton in beautiful spring inspiring colours, the likes of pink, yellow, mauve and green.  A real pick-me-up to brighten my outfit.
Who else is pining for Spring?  I've not been into the stores since Christmas, and I cannot wait to see what styles and colours are filtering in.

The first time I've worn these gorgeous boots, but I'm having to pick and choose exactly when I do - being suede I don't want to ruin them in wet weather.
The slip on boots, have a medium height heel that makes them a joy to wear, and with the block heel, they are sturdy too! These coming from one of my favourite shops - T K Maxx. However I know Debenhams have some super examples too.

Wrapping two scarves together - one plain, one patterned or floral makes for an interesting 'one off' scarf, that you can personalise yourself!  Both of mine I've had on my scarf rack for ages, and scarfs can be a cheap or expensive item to jazz up any ensemble.

I've something very exciting in the pipe line and can't wait to share it with you.
Oh and I'll be visiting the stores for ideas, inspiration and some purchases before long, lets hope this cold weather with shove off and we can really start to think of Spring and brightening up the wardrobe.

So long for today, catch up with you soon. X

Back home - looking forward to sharing my latest fashion ideas for ladies over 50.

Hi to you all, hope you are all in good health and enjoying January!

I've just got back from a relaxing ski holiday in the French Alps.  Yes, you've guessed I'm joking lol.
A very hard week indeed, with early mornings, late nights, red runs, bad visibility, snow with one thing in common ... unfit me!  I need a week away resting!

We took the plunge back in 2001, our first of many holidays, driving to the Alps with a car full of kids (five) and bags filled with clothes, ski suits and a picnic for en route spilling from every nook and cranny in the car.  Arriving was quite a sight with a stream of hotel staff, the kids and me all trailing our belongings into the hotel.  We saved throughout the year for this exciting new adventure, but hadn't expected to then pay nearly the same amount again for ski school and equipment!
The weeks ski school held us in good stead, as by the end of the first week we could all ski down a blue run, fair to say some better than others!  For the next two to three years we continued to put the kids through ski school, so we could practise getting ourselves down the mountain in a prettier fashion.
I maintain it was one of the best things we could have done for the children, as they are all fabulous skiers (one snowboarder) and can tackle all the runs with some 'off-piste' playtime as well.
Hubby and I tend to throw a few more beverage stops into our day, but still keep up most of the time!
Skiing really is fun, albeit a strenuous adventure holiday, but we laugh all the time at the thrills and spills of the day, this carries on through-out the evening re-living all the days fun and amusement, occasionally at my expense!

Wearing my ski jacket to and from the airport, gave me extra space in the suitcase for more choice of clothes - well even on a skiing holiday a girl needs a choice of outfits!  Wearing for the second time my Dare2b padded ski jacket, along with next cigarette jeans, Matalan blouse and black jumper finished off with Clarks boots.  To be fair I only wore these black boots to the airport, and opted for comfort in my Ugg boots most of the time!

First wear of this super Roman Originals knitted dress I bough in the sales see my last post here, I'm really happy with this choice and I'm so glad I was persuaded to buy it.  Just added a pair of black opaque tights and my grey Red Herring boots, these are gorgeous and a winner Christmas present from hubby, although I expect he had a little help from my daughters.!  Didn't feel too overdressed for the apres-ski, but was glad there were plenty of seats to rest my weary legs - lol.

We managed to somehow win the quiz one evening, and I felt truly blessed to have the kids let me use the prize - a ski massage was probably needed by me the most ha ha!  Chilling in my Tommy Hilfiger lounge suit and my Uggs, such a great choice to go to breakfast in, before layering up in my ski suit for the day.

Meal out mid-week, so I though this pretty Debenhams Collection blouse I picked up in the sales would be a great pick, I love the pale pink and grey colourings.  Watch out within the next week for me to show this in better detail.  Debenhams have a 70% off Blue Cross Sale on now, still time to pick up this cute blouse.

Fun in the snow, waiting for everyone to depart for a day on the slopes.  We stayed in La Tania, Courchevel, at a Hotel called La Montana, right on the side of the slopes, ski in, ski out, always the best option rather than a long walk to and from the gondolas.

Not the most comfortable boot to wear or the most stylish, but I think my white Salomon ski boots, look the part for my black, white and pink outfit!  You'll see I'm wearing a ski helmet, I've worn one ever since Michael Schumacher had his unfortunate skiing accident, I've got away without having any issues for a few years and felt this was a sign to say "You need to wear one now"!  I've stayed safe so far.

Hubby and me in our OK magazine shoot!!! (I wish)

Knee Deep!
After a day snowing we had a pit stop.
It's okay, don't worry we managed to find our way to the bar for a Hot Chocolate with Brandy - well you have to keep your insides warm don't you!

Have you guessed what I'll be doing all week, yes the 'Mummabstylish' Laundrette will be in full swing. X

Watch out later in the week for a special blog post that I can't wait to show you.

Bye for today and glad to be back.

Finally been buying in the sales.

Hello all, how's your 2017 going?  To plan I hope.

Today I finally got the chance to visit the sales!  Out with middle daughter who was feeling rather poorly, we visited our local outlet venue where I managed to find a gorgeous knitted dress, and she managed to persuade me to purchase it!  (Like I needed help - lol!)
Have you been into Roman Originals?  Well worth a look for classic, stylish, elegant outfits suitable for days out, weddings or even just shopping with lunch!  I wandered around taking in the sales bargains along with the new season styles and colours.
Styles very limited so far, but similar to the previous seasons with frills and pleats.  Beautiful corals and lime greens making me think of blue skies, flowers, sunshine and spring.  Fingers crossed we wont be having any awful weather, hoping warmer days will be upon us before too long.
Back to my new dress.  I've wanted a knitted dress for ages, but have never found the right one.  Finding one that had the right fit, length and pattern has proven rather difficult, however today I succeeded and with a little nudge from my daughter it was wrapped and in my bag before I had time to re-think!

So what do you think about this monochrome stripe knitted dress?  A mixture of two tones of grey with a thin stripe of white and black, fits perfectly without being too tight.  A finish just above the knee will make this dress only suitable for me to wear with leggings or tights, but that's great for me during the colder months.  With this dress on offer with 40% off, my bargain of the day had to be this for only £20!

Watch the blog in the next week to see how I've styled it, how it looks and if you like it?  Roman Originals have up to 50% off their sale items, and I'm finding it hard to resist clicking the button to buy more bargains!

Today I also visited Bonmarche, finding this stunning navy blue silky blouse in the sale, and for only £18 it definitely had to come home with me.  With a pretty frill detail down the front from the v neck line, making this blouse a flattering staple for my wardrobe that will see me through to the spring and early summer.

How pretty is this vertical frill?  This is such a feminine blouse that can be teamed with so much, not forgetting how many colours it can be mixed with it!  I can't wait to get to work finding them, I think for the price I've got a bargain here!  What would you team this blouse with?  I'd love to hear and maybe try some of your ideas out.

Catch up with you in the next few days, let me know how your sales shopping is going - I'd love to hear what your bargains are.

So long. X
