If you missed the first two challenges you can view both May and June here. X
So to re-cap on what 5 Over 50 is.
A theme is set by one of us each month that we then set about styling in our own individual way.
Founded by Gail from Is this Mutton? I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part each month, grasping some fresh ideas along the way!
So without further waffling here's July's challenge which was set by My friend Laurie from
Vanity and Me.
50 shades of Monochromatic.
I have to admit this one had me and my girls discussing what this style challenge actually meant!
We were tooing and froing between what we thought monochromatic was, is it only one colour for the whole outfit, or both black and white! As you can see obviously I was right! sorry girls - ha!
Well you can see what my interpretation was - All Yellow and canary yellow at that!
I think I fitted in well with the field of daisy's, Esther commented she felt our 'shoot' was very Marc Jacobs! except I'm not 16! Oh and not a model (laughs hilariously).
I could have picked any colour for this challenge, and sometimes having so much choice to start off with makes picking something harder! Going through my wardrobe I spotted this birthday present from the kids - bright yellow fitted trousers from Zara - now the challenge was starting to get easier!
Visiting my local Asda store I found the perfect matches in a cami top the exact same colour along with a chiffon sleeveless floral shirt - again in the same blaring canary yellow. The shirt has clusters of flowers over it giving a bit of depth to my look.
Hurray - my outfit was born. Adding gold strappy sandals, with a perfect heel height, again from Zara. Still keeping with the one colour theme, well, yellow/gold same thing through squinty eyes and a dim light lol.
Can you spot the black bugs that were drawn to the yellow? I was covered in them, I kept brushing them off, but they kept coming!! Esther wasn't left out either, they landed on her white tee shirt too!
I've got the bug - the love bug for this outfit!
"No matter how small you are you, can still achieve big things"
This two bow detail on the side of these ankle length trousers is Cute-As-Hell!
My girls know me so well, I was thrilled when I opened the present and just as elated when I wore them for the first time. The bright canary yellow screams summer, and I felt warm and sunny when I wore them.
The only yellow bag I own ... opps sorry my daughter owns! You may have seen it before
here and here.
Trousers from Zara (reduced to £19.99)
Cami From Asda £5
Blouse from Asda £12
Sandals from Zara (past season)
Bag from Primark (Daughters)
That's enough of my choice lets see what the four other beautiful ladies have up their sleeves!

Me too Cristina, thanks for your kind words. x
DeleteLove the yellow. Those trousers were such a thoughtful gift and a great starting point for this challenge. You must put much time and thought into these monthly collaborations but I'm sure the fun is a great reward.
ReplyDeleteWeren't they just Mary. Lucky girl I am. The challenges have been really enjoyable. Thanks for stopping by. x
DeleteI love your zingy outfit and all the little details like the bows on the trews. I thought it was a field of rape but now I see it was daisies! Such a great setting.
ReplyDeleteVery bold eh? Spotted this venue on the way to another, turned out rather well I think Gail. Many thanks. x
DeleteI love your yellow outfit, Jacqui! I had a pair of yellow pants that color about 30 years ago, and seeing yours makes me want to get another pair!
ReplyDeleteI love that you showed that an all yellow outfit is very possible. The little bit of print on the sleeveless shirt gives it just enough of a break from being "too yellow" I think... Truly a great look!
