Styling floral trousers with an off white top.

Hi there, how's your week been?
I have to say that for the past week, at about 9pm I've been at a bit of a loose end!  The reason being a TV programme has come to an end, yes I'm sad to say my favourite 'must watch' has finished.  
What you ask could it be?  Love Island!  For those who are unfamiliar with this have-to-watch Telly programme it's about mixing a group of young people - hoping for them to find love!  Watching their antics and listening to their talking had me and the girls either in fits of laughter or in tears!  Anyhow it's definitely one for the female sex - hubby absolutely hated it and is glad it's finally over!  Back to the football then I suppose!!!

Again for me my weekend was a busy one!
Youngest daughter's birthday on Friday, so having family and friends around was the first get-together of the weekend.  Drink and nibbles were served to our guests - followed by birthday cake.
Saturday morning had me err .... let's just say recovering from the drinks & late night!
I Livened up in time to attend a hen night in our local Cantonese restaurant, a venue that has live music along with a buffet meal with entertainment included.
The cabaret singer had a few of us busting some moves on the dance floor, enjoying sounds of the 80's, 90's and more.  Worrying I'd not be able to move in the morning, but I was fine I must be fitter than I think - lol.
Sunday roast was on the menu yesterday, the first for a long time.  We've either been, out, away, eating take out food or cooking on a BBQ.  Everyone savouring chicken with vegetable and roasted potatoes - it's been too long roast dinner you've been missed!

Sharing my outfit choice today.  You may have seen these floral trousers a month or so ago.  Styled then with a plain green tee shirt.  A plain off white pretty blouse this time around.  Having bought this in Matalan sale (which is currently now on)  & wanting a neutral top I spotted this.  Seeing the colour first, then the frilly sleeves I knew it would be a default item in the wardrobe.  Having worn it twice since I bought it - only a week or so ago, I've proved myself right!

Here's a closer look at the cute frilly sleeves, cap  detailing on the shoulder is very flattering, but also feminine.  Wearing the green choker again with this look.  Have you bought a choker yet - they're in lots of the stores, in many different styles and colours this three pack is very cute for only £8.99 from H & M.

Guess who's bombing my shot?  Yes it's my princess - who sometimes wants to be called 'The Queen', not sure where she's got that from, but I don't mind with the love I have for her she can be called anything - lol.

Anybody been buying for the Autumn yet?  Laurie from Vanity and Me has been sharing the AW17 Pantone forecast charts - and I'm musing over many of the colours.  There'll be a shopping expedition for MummaB very soon, I'll be needing some new choices in my collections!

Jaeger on a Thursday?

Hello from MummaB ......

Whilst it's not out of the realms of reality to have Jaeger on a Thursday, this Jaeger is a stunning top & not a drink!

Half way through summer and some days are feeling decidedly more like Winter!  We never seem to get a happy medium here in the UK, it's either stifling hot or freezing cold. Never knowing whether to wear a strappy top and cropped jeans or long trousers, cardigan & a rain mac!

When the photos were taken a few weeks ago it was a quite hot - so with our changeable weather in mind I chose to wear my years old M & S white linen trousers, M & S have similar here. 
The linen palazzo trousers are cool enough to wear in hot weather, whilst still keeping my legs warm from the inconsistent windy weather!
Debuting this gorgeous Jaeger cotton mix top, I received from my sister for my birthday prezzie.  She knows my style really well and we tend to have similar likes and dislikes - we often love what each other wears, then subsequently by something exactly the same or similar.
So getting back to the top - the white with black leaf design top is sleeveless with a double frill running down the side - which is a statement detail that I find very appealing. 
Jaeger have been around for many years and produce effortlessly stylish clothing for both women and men.  The excellent quality shines through in garments for work and play without the designer price tags.  Jaeger you really are 'the bomb'!
Black and white has always been a winning combination in my eyes and I never get tired of wearing it.

How pretty is this backdrop?  Just right for showing this monochrome outfit.

Are you a fan of linen trousers?  I've owned a few over the years and it does pay to spend a little bit more to get better quality.  Cheaper linen trousers have a tendency to stretch when being worn!  Who wants baggy, stretched clothes?
But remember linen never, ever goes out of style, so buy those trousers, dresses and shirts. You will always have something to wear in your wardrobe for any occasion. 
Linen can be dressed up or dress it down with some basic accessories, for example a stunning necklace over a dress for an evening out or a silky scarf and straw hat paired with linen trousers and flats for an afternoon shopping.

Monday - another way with gingham crops!

Hi there, hope everything is good with you and you've been treated to a good weekend!

Saturday was going to be a rather boring affair, with nothing much occurring, but as the norm with my life we decided last minute to venture into town with my daughters, SIL, my princess and prince and visit the Oyster Festival!
Really this year it was just a fun fair along with a food festival featuring Oysters! 
Princess loved all the fair ground rides, especially the big wheel Nannie took her on!  Blimey it was high and very windy at the highest point! Yikes!  Needless to say Princess really enjoyed the excitement and waved with both hands, however I held on to the security bar tightly and held princess even tighter!
I abstained on the aforementioned delicacy and chose to eat slow cooked ribs ( somewhat difficult with no cutlery & a sticky sauce!) followed by yummy Churros and a chocolate sauce dip.
Home to watch a film and chill.

Sunday had hubby and me out at a friends BBQ.  Dining on steak, jacket potatoes and salad with a few glasses of fizz.  Managing to dodge the rain in between eating and playing croquet.  Have you ever played this game?  This was the second time I have played this tactical game, although hitting the ball in the right direction was the hardest part for me!
Trying my best to gain a favourable result in the two games we played, which ended in third and fourth position - there'll be some practice needed so I'll be buying my own set for the garden!  Next time I'm going to be ready to challenge the winner - lol.
Wearing the New Look Jumpsuit I wore for the 5 Over 50 Challenge, great for striding about in the garden, swinging the mallet back and forth and also warm enough for the overcast, wet weather that descended upon us Sunday afternoon.

Getting ahead of myself now, back to last week.  The children decided they were going out for dinner last Thursday so we took up their invite to join them. 
We dined in Nandos - a reputable establishment the mainly only serves Chicken of varying degrees of spice!  Steak and vegetarian options were also on the menu.  This being my third visit I still had to have the menu explained to me by my son - ending up with a medium heat chicken burger with fries, with side dishes of coleslaw, grilled Halloumi cheese & avocado.  I enjoyed this more than the first two visits and hopefully will know my way around the menu next time (probably not).

Here's what I wore the dine in Nandos - my son thought I looked very nice, but rather overdressed for Nandos - out local restaurant caters mostly for the university students.  Anyhow, I don't 'do'
let's-just-go-out dress code, so they had to put up with me being 'over-fifty-MummaB-just-get-ready-and-go' lol.

You've seen my Dorothy Perkins Gingham cropped trousers - similar here, quite a few times in recent weeks.  Pairing them with Three different coloured tops, I thought I would seek another option.
So how do you like my choice?  Cobalt blue has to be up there with my favourite colours.  It's a very flattering tone paired with dark hair and a tan - I have a few items in my wardrobe, and I'm always scouting for more!
You may recall seeing this pretty top when I wore it over my white linen trousers.  This post I'd love you to see because of the striking Bluebells I stood amongst last May.

My youngest daughter took photos for me, we nipped outside of the pub to take them in this gateway to the church next door.  She took about 20 shots but saw when we were back inside I'd somehow managed to trap the bottom of my top in the zip of my trousers!  Back out we went to take another twenty or so shots - thankfully these were much better!

Testing a Chinup Mask!

Morning everyone.  Thanks for stopping by.

I hope you find today's blog interesting, not only that it may give you a little chuckle.

I was recently contacted by Chinup Mask, asking if I'd be interested in receiving a sample to try.
Well you can bet this over fifty blogger said yes straight away!  After all some of us need all the help we can get - lol!

Chinup Mask* is a 30 minute face mask that you can wear in the comfort of your own home, claiming to reduce the appearance of double chins, sagging jowls and the dreadful turkey neck in minutes, but lasting for days.
Chinup Mask* state and I quote
"Using 5 of the best cosmetic ingredients, 10 natural fruit extracts and our very own patent-pending Skintronics serum, Chinup Mask* is designed and produced to provide maximum lifting and smoothing effect to your chin, neck and jawline."

I had to see how this worked and couldn't wait to start the trial.
In the sample pack was an instruction leaflet, tape measure,  the sachet with the serum mask, along with the slimming band.

Asking Esther Ruby to take photographs for me, I set about gaining a better looking chin and neck.

Firstly taking measurements, this was rather difficult so I was glad Esther was there to help, we registered my measurements;
Starting from ear to ear I measured around the chin, my reading of 25cm was taken,
The second again from one ear to the other gave 21.5cm.

Now to open the sealed sachet.
My first impression was of a large baby wipe with cup-out area which went up towards the ears.
It felt squidgy and somewhat slimy, but didn't have any offensive smell which is always a good thing.
I placed the mask upon my chin and neck smoothing out the bubbles that had formed between the mask and my skin. 

Next it was time to put the band around my head and secured tightly with the Velcro fastening, two openings encircled my ears, this felt better as I could hear and it didn't feel uncomfortable.

This I left on for about 35/40 minutes, and after the initial muffled chuckles from me and the rather louder laughs from Esther had subsided I relaxed on a sunbed with my Kindle letting the serum soak into my chin and neck. 
You are recommended to use as little jaw movement as possible to obtain the best results.  Maybe the best time to use the mask would be chilling in a hot bath - what joy - that'll be me next time I use mine!

The warming sensation is totally normal - that's how you know it's working.  I thought it may have felt itchy but not at all!  If anything it was a calming feeling.

Once thirty five minutes had elapsed I removed the band and mask, gently rubbing in any of the excess serum - this soaked in quickly so there was no need to wash or wipe anything off.

Measuring again I was pleasantly surprised to read I'd reduced both measurements by 1/2 cm!!! 
My face felt and looked tighter and firmer, wow, I hadn't expected that!


I feel using the Chinup Mask frequently will give an even better outcome, & now I know exactly how easy it is to use I'll be happily trying this out again - very soon!  What do you think?


Two treatments start at £29.95 including the slimming band, with seven treatments costing £49.95.  Top up sachets are £59.95, you can also buy a replacement band for just under £8.  All this is far cheaper than going under the knife and much less invasive - I think I know what I'd prefer!

MummaB - Style Steal!

Hi there, ready to face another week?
Having had a rather different weekend from the normal, I'm looking forward to getting my week back on track - the reason being hubby has been away to Dublin, helping the Stag celebrate his last weekend of freedom as they say!  You can catch where the hens went here!
It's like having my arm cut off not having hubby at home.  The children were around some of the time, but it's just not the same as we do so much together.  Missing him - an understatement!

When looking at other fantastic blogs I follow, I noticed more and more outfits that I'd love to wear  & realised I could re-create many of them with clothes I already have in my possession, maybe having only to buy one or two extra pieces to complete a 'copy'!

I've decided that on the 3rd Thursday of each month I'll be featuring a Style Steal, copying another bloggers look.


First up has to be the delightful Catherine from Not dressed as lamb winner of the UK Blog Awards for fashion & beauty 2017.
She encourages women to wear what they want and look fabulous doing it.  Winning many accolades for her high street picks and individual style, along with blog post featuring health, beauty and fitness issues. 
Catherine's blog, is a go-to, up-to-date, informative site for the over 40's, & many people including me love to visit.

This outfit got me thinking ...
I had red linen trousers somewhere in the wardrobe along with my ever faithful cream sparkly baseball trainers I was half way there.  The ace up my sleeve this dainty lace top all the way from Spain, on my earlier visit to L'Escala.  

Having a double lace layer, see-through in places, with a discrete covered in section in just the right area.  With a pleasing scalloped edge on both the sleeve and the hem, the exquisite detailing married with the cream colour makes this beauty timeless and functional, therefore it'll be winner with so many of my outfits in the future.  Be prepared to see this darling again and again!

How about the cute flower pattern in the lace - isn't it pretty? 

I took my black Osprey cross-over bag to complete my style copy - the only thing needed was a hat, well truth be told I don't own one.  I've planned to get one, but haven't seen any I really like, so if you could use your own imagination I'll be very thankful. 😜

Esther Ruby took the photographs in a local play park.  This a short drive away and the first time I've visited for about forty years!  Needless to say it looks very different from what I remember.
This play park not only caters for young children but older youths too.  When we arrived Esther made a bee line for the zip wire she spotted - having a little ride, enjoying every minute - shame no photos!
Not to be outdone MummaB had to get in one the act having a go too, except I couldn't get off it - literally!

We set about taking photos in the park, being careful not to include any kids!
Fortunately finishing just in time, because we were swarmed by a class of school children on a day trip - obviously letting off steam in the play area.  They were everywhere and would definitely have been photobombing my shots! Ha ha.
