Hi there.
How're you bloggers doing?
I'm sure you're a little confused by my title "Opal Fruits, Polos & a bottle of Coke"- let me explain ...
With Halloween fast approaching the witching hour will soon be upon us. Plenty of you will be scurrying around frantically getting bits and pieces together for the all important Halloween outfit. I'm actually getting involved after way too many years of abstinence, no not because I haven't wanted to get dressed up, actually never having a party to go to! Esther Ruby changed that for me when she came up with the plan of having her party with a Halloween theme. I jumped at the chance of dressing up, eager to have some scary make-up added to an equally scary outfit. Okay I'm not looking that scary, but you get the gist!
Morticia and Gomez Addams. |
Things don't scare me like they used to ...
... I remember when I was younger plenty of things scared me! Flying spiders aka crane flies, thunder and lightening & watching scary films, I'm not talking IT, Friday the 13th or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - No, no, no I'm talking proper old school Hammer Horror!! Scary stuff when you're about nine!!!
Imagine being left alone with my older sister and cousin whilst my aunt and uncle went to the pub, watching Peter Cushing and Vincent Price in the guises of Frankenstien or Dracular, so scared I hid behind a cushion! Secretly relieved when my aunt and uncle returned home, although I never showed that I was scared, I felt like one of the big girls. Happy to have the usual treats of Opal Fruits (now called Starburst), a packet of Polos and a bottle of coke (glass not plastic). Eating both together - what a strange combination, why did I do that? Funny how some things stick in your mind like that.
We also stayed in the garden in a tent one night, but after hearing a scream we all charged indoors and refused to return! That was the one and only camping experience we tried - obviously both my sister and cousin were secretly frightened too - lol.
So back to my outfit, couldn't think of many scary characters so I settled with Morticia from The Addams Family, an easy one for me as I've already got long dark hair. Ordered the dress from
Ebay, which I had to make some minor adjustments on the neckline. I applied some white foundation, red lips and dark eye make-up finishing with my Hair extensions, finally I was good to go!
Here's a few of the other scary party goers - I hope you're suitable impressed by their efforts, I certainly was. It really made the evening hilarious at times, especially trying to guess who was behind some of the disguises!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Hope you'll be back again soon.
Bye for now. X
