Hi there - hope August is going well for you.
We've been busy in the garden, trying to clear the weeds that have appeared.
It's hard work, especially with the hot weather we've been experiencing in the UK over the past few weeks, but better than working in the rain! It's starting to look tidier already. Hubby and I have finally agreed to get started on a little decking area outside the kitchen, it will tidy up an otherwise messy area and I can't wait to get going on it. I'm picturing me entertaining friends and family here, so with that in mind here's just what I'd wear for my first get together.
Having a 'bit of a thing' for lace I couldn't resist this lace overdress I saw on my previous holiday to Ibiza, so it just had to return home with me. I needed a dress or petticoat (is that an old word) to wear underneath. Finding just what I needed in M & S - this pack of two is only £20. With one black and one nude I've got another outfit in mind for the latter one. 😉
Wearing quite the opposite from the lace dress I wore for my Amazing Lace challenge when I chose black accessories. No not this time, I wanted to celebrate the weather, picking bright colourful accessories to really show off this dress. What better sandals than my rainbow shoes? You might remember them - I paired them with my orange culottes and also my white jeans.
How about this fabulous blue necklace? I found this hanging in my middle daughters' wardrobe and just had to try it out - reckon it looks good with my lace dress & happy that the turquoise cluster necklace and splash of bling has added a cheery feel.
This could also look super cool over a swimsuit too, to keep the sun off whilst having a light lunch.
Such sheer fabric leave me feeling very cool, but still looking sophisticated and chic.
The black slip completes the outfit beautifully, I've also worn it with my floral sleeveless over-shirt too! Do think about adding a slip to a see-through flimsy outfit as it can give a second lease of life? I love the feeling of barely there fabric - especially in holiday hot weather. Just as well I picked this little beauty up as it's proving to be a winner back home in our tropical heatwave!
Thanks for stopping by today - let me know you're views on lace - are you a lace wearer or is it an item you'd avoid?
Bye for today. X

Who's the sophisticated lady! Great dress, great outfit, great pics. The necklace is so pretty too.
ReplyDeleteI've been buying those silky jersey Marks petticoats (does the word age us?!!) for years. Love em. Over the years they've done different lengths and the white is nice too. Top tip, I pack one in my suitcase even if I don't pack a dress. It's a great nightie, is fine for villa wake up coffee with friends and if you buy a nice lacy dress on holiday, you can start wearing it immediately!
Hugs,x.
Great idea Mary, I will do this future, and hopefully make another outfit shine. Thanks for stopping by my friend. x
