Looking back on August with love. X

Hello lovely readers.
September already!  How on earth did that happen so quickly - I wish I could rewind to earlier  months for more than one reason.

In August you might recall I went off the radar for a while, my reason - a very big one!  I'm sad to say I lost my much loved mother-in-law.  Although it was somewhat expected it still came as a big shock - we think our parents will be here forever don't we?
I'm so lucky to have had my MIL because she was so much more than that - she was my friend.  Since she lost her husband she spent so much time with my hubby, me and our family - something I will forever be thankful for.  She came on holidays with us, spent most Sunday's with us and came out with us both as a family & when we went out with friends.
I remember one time in particular when we took my daughters' to a gymnastics competition.  We stayed overnight in a hotel with a restaurant next door, we'd had a couple of drinks with our meal and made our way back to the room, getting into the lift for the next floor, once we had stepped out we realised we hadn't actually gone anywhere, we were still on the same floor - fits of laughter ensued and we finally found our room, having another funny story to recall every once in a while. 😊
She was lovely to me, the children and our extended family too.  Her loss will leave a huge hole in our family, and I know it will never be the same again.  I just wanted to share my lovely second mum with you - may she rest in peace. 💗

With September firmly planted on our doorsteps, I wanted to share some of my outfits from sunny August.  It's nice to wander back through the blog sometimes to view what I wore, feeling both proud and bewildered at what I see - we are always our own worst critics aren't we?
I have to say my first offering ended up even better than I imagined it would be.  I bought this lace over-dress in Ibiza and spent ages finding the petticoat I wore under it.  But when I saw the end result I was so pleased.  I accessorised bright rainbow ankle shoes and picked out this pretty bold blue necklace, these really made the outfit pop!  Both belong to my daughters', but the shoes I ended up keeping!

Another favourite from last month will prove a great choice for Autumn and I can't wait to wear them again.  I picked up these striped ankle trousers in H & M & didn't realise how versatile they would be.  I'll be happily wearing them with boots and a warm jumper right through until the Winter months probably!  Here I opted for a vivid yellow silky top that brightens up the whole look.  I chose my white denim jacket, but this would look equally fabulous with a white shirt and my red pea coat.  Ohh I can't wait to try it.

Finally we all know layers are the thing that gets us through Autumn - with changeable weather confusing our body thermostat - not to mention the bloomin' 'M' word - I'm like a windmill taking off and putting garments on!  My cami top and over shirt will work a treat, with room for a jumper or gilet over the top I'm set for any weather or hot flush! 😂  Catch the full post here.

Thanks for joining me today, see you bright and early on Thursday - I'm going to share a pink cardigan with you - probably will match my cheeks with these hot flushes!!!

Bye for now, X

  5. There are a lot of cliches about mothers-in-law and our relationships with them but I was very fond of both of mine so my deepest sympathy to you. You've found a great spot on the beach at the best time of day I would guess (early evening>) - the lighting is superb! Love your August outfits.
