Happy New year!
Welcome to my over fifty fashion blog.
If you follow me on IG you may have seen Mummab is on cloud nine, you see my daughter gave birth to my grandson on New Year's Eve - a beautiful baby boy. He came three days early and really lifted my spirits after losing my beloved Mother-in-law back in August.
So into 2019 with one new arrival under my belt I'm patiently waiting for another due in April, then onto May when my second eldest daughter gets married, I'm going to be one busy lady for sure.
I hope you caught my recent post sharing what the ladies from Style not Age presented. Our tag 'Sequin in the New Year' was a winner, I love all the outfits and would wear any of them in a heartbeat as sequins never really go out of fashion. Having seen Kellyann from This Blonde's Shopping Bag wearing them with jeans that's just what I intend to do on a future night out! 😊
I'm sure you have all been busy over the past few weeks just like me and my goddaughter, so unfortunately I've not got any suitable outfit shots to share with you, so I was thinking what about re-visiting my most favoured blog posts of the year?
Without further ado here they are:
When I finally found this Michaela Louisa two piece on ebay I was itching to wear it to my nieces' wedding. I paired it with silver sandals and a sparkly clutch bag, and after loosing a few inches a couple of months into my diet I felt a million dollars - especially having my make-up professionally applied!
I tend to think I look better in a dressier outfit, but finding out this choice made the grade somewhat surprised me! A white shirt always looks great and paired over jeans you really can't go wrong. All that was needed to complete my look which was based on my Eva Trends shirt, was a neck scarf, belt and lightweight jacket - shopping ready.
I knew a pleated skirt would get it's fair share of likes, but thought it might be my cream/gold version. But no the blue pleated flouncy from Primark won hands down! I actually styled it three ways - but here's the winner worn with a mustard lace top.
Animal prints just had to be one of the top picks - and I'm so pleased it was this one. I picked up a real bargain when I bought this in T K Maxx, having worn it so many times, both casual and more formally - it's one of those adaptable dresses. Here I've chosen pale pink accessories.
I'm so pleased this outfit made the cut. The colour combination of cobalt and mustard made a real impact on me last year and I wore it many times in different guises. I stole this look from Emma - Style Splash and rather pleased I did - what do you think?
You can tell mustard was a sensation last year as it was everywhere, giving everyone the ability to buy plenty in this shade to match into their wardrobes. I found this beauty just waiting to be snapped up in Florence and Fred. My only doubt now is that It might be a tad to large, but I'll cross that bridge when I wear it again!
Finally the last look, which is just me, just what I like to wear, feel comfortable in for everyday style.
Stripes also worked well for me last year, buying a few pieces to keep me on the straight and narrow.
I picked up this stripy shirt in the Primark sale for small change & the cropped white jeans from New Look got their fair share of use over the summer months making them an invaluable asset!
So would you have picked these as some of your favourites from last year?
I'll leave you with my best loved outfit, obviously a dress & it has to be red! I feel amazing in this dress, loving the colour, the frill and more importantly the length. I'm finding a whole new world out there with short dresses in and they've got my name all over them!
