Style not Age - Spring Green's from Next!

Welcome everyone - new & old I'm pleased you are all here.
Today being the last Monday of the month means it's the turn of the Style not Age ladies to take center stage.  This month's choice worked out to be mine.  I wanted a title that portrayed the new season so decided on this ....
Spring Green's
Now the title was set I started looking in the shops for something that I could use for the challenge as well as wear throughout Spring and Summer too!  Could I find anything in the shops? In a word NO - feeling fed up I trotted into Next and there it was staring at me - this pretty green dress with a flower pattern over it.  I picked up a 12 and a 14 and made a beeline for the changing room.  The 12 fitted superbly and I loved it the minute I slipped it over my head.  I didn't hesitate on putting the 14 back whilst heading for the till.  I knew I'd got plenty of boots & shoes that would complete my look, so after buying some cheap earrings in Primark my job was done!

The dainty floral dress features a gypsy style frilly hem, and flattering side drawstring waist detail - means you can pull to whatever fit you like.  I've opted for a more fitted appearance, but it looked fab left looser for a smock effect.  Both will be great for a summer beach holiday or over a swimsuit.  Available in sizes 6 - 22 with tall and petite options too.  Priced at £42 which is fab for such a usable dress.

Some might say boring beige accessories, but I feel happier letting the dress shine through and all my additions, except my bold and bright earrings, can blend in the background.

See it's got deliciously feminine covered buttons to fasten up to the neck or leave open as far down as you dare! So much potential, you can throw a thin jumper over it or maybe add a matching green roll neck to it - see when I did this with my fetching mustard dress earlier this month.

The sleeves also fasten with cute covered buttons & finish just below the elbow - which are very comfortable to wear. There's nothing worse than sleeves finishing in the wrong place - no worries of that happening here!

Here's that drawstring detail that I tied into a bow.  It's a sensible idea for a varied fit.

I've been in a tizzy to use youngest daughter's cream bag, this is another from T K Maxx and I think she must take after me by having a liking for their bags  - she often comes home with a beauty that I can always put to good use! 😉

Now the only thing I didn't like about the dress is the lack of lining length, it finishes where the frill starts making it rather transparent.  I popped on a half slip which finished at the same place, but did make it less see through.

Any number of shoes or boots would have made the outfit sing, but these suede tassel boots (I love these)  were just begging to be worn - making my look very boho chic don't you think?

Hilda has taken full advantage of of her pretty spring surroundings with these daffodils in her picture where her light, bright green Zara coat fits in beautifully - lifting her black and white outfit with the pop that screams SPRING.  Be sure to pop over to her blog for further details.

Anna is sharing her usual exuberant style in this fabulous green outfit accentuated by the smattering of blues.  You look a picture of happiness my friend, your early trip to Cape Town must have been a real pick-me-up. X  Why not check out her outfit plus her recent adventure on the blog Anna's Island Styles.

Emma is sharing a real transitional piece with her apple green Laura Ashley coat over PU jeans, completing her Spring feel with mustard yellow court shoes.  More from Emma over on her blog Style Splash.

I feel Spring has sprung for the Style not Age collective, let's hope mother nature returns the compliment and lets the fine weather stay!

Many thanks to Esther Ruby for my photos today - great job. X  We always have a fun & laughs when we go out 'shooting' & no different when we took these, heading out to Margate to take advantage of the sunshine, but by half way we were engulfed with misty weather!  We decided to head back home and managed to get a few shots in different places albeit surrounded by families out for half term enjoying the weather too!  We got a few stares, but that's all part and parcel of the blogging world isn't it!
See you on Thursday for the #chicandstylish #linkup.
Bye, bye. X

  2. Jacqui that dress is just stunning and I love how you put the fringed boots with it. It will certainly get plenty of outings and can take you right through until Autumn. The earrings are winners too. I must look out for them in Primark.

  3. I love green and I love floral prints, so I think you chose the perfect dress, Jacqui. I do hear you on the lack of lining length, though. Half slip to the rescue ;-) And even though I usually fully embrace colour, I think you did well keeping your accessories beige. It works really well with the dress! xxx

  5. What a great find - it's so feminine and summer and I love that you paired it with ankle boots! I went to a party and saw a lady in an emerald green dress and knew I was going to have to find something in emerald green, so this post has been very inspirational. And I just love Anna's skirt and sock boots!

  6. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this challenge Jacqui. When you made the suggestion I remember thinking that it would all hinge on the weather and didn't that just work out fine? Your dress is so pretty and you made the right decision with the choice of colour for your accessories too. I love those boots of yours as they defy the boring beige label don't they? Great challenge, thanks!
