Not much to report since last week really. Saturday I popped to my local T K Maxx for a browse, but couldn't find ANYTHING I liked - yes hard to believe. I searched all the departments and came up with zilch - not even a bag caught my eye! Maybe it's because I had money to spend - does that ever happen to you. Money in your pocket = can't find a thing, no money = plenty I see, plenty I want and more! Sunday afternoon I was invited to a Baby Shower. Have you ever been to one?
I might feature it in more detail in a future post, but here's what I wore to an event I'm proud to say two of my daughters planned, bought for, made for & organised. It was a brilliant success with mum-to-be and guests thoroughly enjoying themselves.
With brilliant sunshine and a slightly warmer day I decided to wear this mustard dress. I wore it back in September when It proved the most perfect colour for Autumn, but I vowed to wear it in a more suitable way for Winter. How did I achieve this? Well I popped a mustard roll neck under it and chose to wear long black boots. Sorry the photo isn't very clear, but hope you can see exactly what I wore yesterday. The black faux leather jacket finished off the outfit in an edgy way, but I was still a little chilly when coming home, the darkness had also bought colder weather with it, so a thicker warmer coat would have been a better option!
Blogging never fails to surprise me! With up's and down's every week I never know what's going to happen. The variety of blogging aspects keeps it fresh too, from taking photos, researching information, compiling the blog, visiting other blogging friends and scrolling social media all this keeps my enthusiasm high - I could literally blog all day in some form or another.
Getting to know other bloggers is one of the best surprises I've found - I hadn't expected to make friends from a hobby like this - but what a wonderful result!
Receiving a surprise award from Emma at Style Splash was just the encouragement I needed after feeling so uncertain about my blog, it's lovely to get acknowledgements sometimes - even something like this means so much to me. Thanks Emma for your support.
So here goes with the questions and my answers.
1. What prompted you to start blogging?
Having never having to work since I had my first child (except helping my husband in his business) I looked after my five children all through them growing up. Finding myself in my late 40's with free time I needed something to fill my life. I didn't want to be held down by a job and still wanted to be available to hubby and the family in case they needed me. I also hated the fact that my memory had gotten so bad I kept forgetting basic things I'd been asked to do! So I decided to write a blog, my love of fashion could be released in a beneficial way & it might improve my brains retention of
2. Blogging is very time-consuming. How do you manage your time?
Basically I blog if and when I want to! If the family need me for something, if I have a gym or dance class or I need to help hubby with his work I can leave blogging. Likewise I can blog early morning or late at night - whenever it suits me!
3. Have you ever considered giving it up?
Blimey yes ever day - lol. I often feel like why am I doing this - I'm no good and definitely not as good as 'so-and-so'!!! I recently mention this very thing in a blog post, I'm sure everyone feels like this at times. Fortunately it doesn't last - so I've no intention of giving up just yet.
4. How do you stay motivated?
I take a step back, re-read other blogs and take a look at my blog posts. I re-evaluate what I've done and how far I've come since starting the blog. Reading comments from other bloggers help in a big way. Reading that I've helped or inspired others also keeps me on track too.
5. Do you have specific goals you'd like to achieve?
Absolutely - I just want to carry on blogging every week, and hopefully grow my following, and without doubt want to meet IRL my blogging friends and also meet new bloggers. I'd also love to venture into vlogging, but that seems all too daunting for now but watch this space as they say!
The rules for the award are as follows:

DeleteJacqui,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You deserve an award. I have the same ups and downs with this blogging thing as you do. I keep thinking I'll give it up but just can't quite do it! It's so fun to connect with all the lovely ladies--like you--who are having the same struggles and lots of successes. It's hard not to compare ourselves--I do that all the time, and it's such a downer.
You look wonderful, as always, and the yellow dress (my favorite color!) and outfit are perfect for this award.
Keep on blogging.
xx Darlene

ReplyDeleteThank you for the nomination Jacqui. Only catching up with my friends in the last few days. I will get right on it. Loving the yellow dress. Have you had your colours done by the way?
ReplyDeleteIt was another joy to see your post. It is such an important topic and ignored by so many, even professionals. I am sharing Nexter Org news this blog with you for more news.
