Suits Me!

Hiya my friends.
How are you all?
Currently I'll be sipping cocktails by the pool laying in the sunshine topping up my tan!  I just need one good reason not to go home - lol  Please don't make me!
I've bought a couple of new pieces to take away with me, and seeing that my god-daughter is with me I'm hoping she be able to take a few shots in the idyllic surroundings so I can share them with you on the blog.

But today let's talk about reviving an extremely old outfit that's been patiently waiting at the back of my wardrobe.  Having not seen the light of day for some years now I felt it was the right time to attempt to get back into my suit.  Only trouble is it's gone the other way now and the trousers are too big for me!  I bought this trousers suit back in 2012, although after having a conversation with Esther I thought I bought it in the 90's - the memory isn't all that good then eh!

Power suits have always turned up in some form or other throughout the years, with 2012 being no different.  Only trouble for me, I didn't need a suit as I've never been manager or CEO of anything, except the Berry household - lol.  I just wanted something that would be warm enough for the given day trip - see below, and to look elegant.   I've always had a soft spot for suits, but have never really had the need for one.  All the rage at the moment are bright jackets with Capri style trousers which are not only sassy, but can be worn for a number of occasions, they don't even look out-of-place at a wedding!

Back to my suit, the trousers are wide leg which I find very flattering, these are slightly baggy on the waist and hips, but with the belt cinching it in at the top, it doesn't look too bad!  One the other hand the jacket fits a treat, creating curves in the right places.

Looking at the photos I think I should actually be going off to a business meeting and not in fact off to get my dinner ingredients - ha ha.

Not sure if you can see that the suit has a very pale blue pinstripe running through it, lifting the dull brown, I really wanted to pair a sweet little pale blue top and cute pointy toed matching blue boots, but alas they weren't to hand, so I chose a recent purchase from H & M, by way of the snakeskin tee shirt.  It only felt right to continue with that train of thought so added my Vionic court shoes and near matching over-sized clutch bag - also a snakeskin pattern.

My Josie courts look perfect under the wide legs of my pants, and just the right height for shooting about town to get my chores done!
Over-sized bags are a winner in my eyes, everything can be stuffed inside - there's room for plenty that might be needed.  Checkout this cute circle cross-body bag, maybe not as much room as mine, but twice as noticeable.

Here's a throw back of when I wore it for the first time - we traveled on the Orient Express to and from Bath and what a treat that was.  I would throughly recommend booking this for a special occasion as it was one of the most enchanting, memorable treats I've ever had.  We journeyed to and from Bath having brunch with champagne on the way out, a guided tour around Bath and the spa, followed by a return journey back to Victoria devouring a stunning four course meal in style - truly a wonderful day.
Pisssst.... I've still got the crochet top and pretty necklace too!!! 😉

So pleased you could join me today - do you have anything hanging in your collection that is yonks old??  Do share with me so I know I'm not the only one!!

  3. I just bought a suit this weekend! I am thrilled that they are back in style! I tried on a bunch in candy colours, but didn't like the tight trousers that came with them - I really wanted slouchier trousers, and was so happy find pieces that I liked (will be wearing the suit on Thursday this week).

I like your styling with the snakeskin, Jacquie! It looks fabulous - I like how you posed with the blue buildings to match the pinstripe, too!

I have very little in my wardrobe before 2007 - I lost 50 lbs in 2006-2007, so I got rid of most of my "fat" clothes. I have a few vintage treasures that I've collected over the years that are old, but are not in regular clothing rotation in my closet.

Have a lovely week and enjoy the rest of your holiday!!

  4. What a fantastic suit Jacqui, it may be 7 years old (or older) but it looks very modern and stylish! Love how you styled it with the snakeskin. My oldest item is my "Rupert Bear" trousers - they're like Oxford bags, wide legged, and brown stripes. I got them in the early 1990s and still wear them. Unfortunately I didn't keep very much.
