How are you all doing?
A happy Mummabstylish as this time of the year brings my favourite TV shows - Strictly Come Dancing has been on for a few weeks, but the best show on telly started last night and I'm going to be gripped for the next three weeks - I'm a Celebrity had me on the edge of my seat last night, I'm so looking forward to the next few weeks, glad that I'm in the comfort of my own home!!
I've had another wonderfully busy week. Afternoon tea on Thursday with a couple of good friends enjoying the delights of Sands Hotel. Saturday I had a fabulous evening at Reads with family. Hubby and I enjoyed the company of my mum and uncle along with my sister and brother-in-law. The three course meal was, as usual, superb and the setting was equally sumptuous, with staff to make the evening run as smoothly as possible. Drinks in the sitting room before savouring chicken and prune terrine, roast new season Kentish lamb with caramelised onion, duphine potato, baby spinach with a rosmary jus. I just had to save a little room for the dessert of passion fruit souffle. It's the finishing touches that make all the difference - things like hors d'oeuvre of tiny cheese on dainty toast, anchovy cheese straws, tiny cups of warming soup with mini cheese scones, homemade bread with creamy butter & to finish coffee & HOMEMADE SWEETS - as if I needed any more food!!!
Yesterday I had nearly all the family for a good old fashioned roast beef dinner with all the accompaniments, followed by apple pie and custard - the diet is well and truly out of the window! Lol.
So as you can see I've been so busy enjoying myself - there's been no time to find a suitable candidate for the Style Steal series!
Can I share a little dress with you instead?
You all (might) know I love wearing dresses, and tend to buy one of two every so often. That might be for a special occasion or just for everyday wear. If I go out for dinner I usually wear a suitable dress or even a one piece, but have to admit I've not got many jumpsuits that I can wear in these colder months. Anyway a couple of months ago I bought this navy crepe knee length version from M & S, (this one is very similar). I wanted something I could dress up for nights out or dress casually for ventures in the day.
Possibly a tad shorter that I would normally wear, but I will add tights which will change the look in an instant! I think the flippy skirt is a big plus, and the high neckline and long sleeves means I can wear a warm layer underneath as well as over the top to change the look completely and keep warmer too.
You can't really see the navy M & S courts I styled with my dress, but I wanted to show you how I wore it with when I went to a friends house party back in September. I didn't need tights, but would have opted for a natural shade with the courts.
This is the flippy hemline, It has a wide bias cut piece that gives the extra movement - it swishes and sways when I walk. I feel good in this dress, really good!
Many thanks for stopping by today, come back and join the #chicandstylish #LINKUP on Thursday.
Esther Ruby kindly took these photos - thanks so much Hun. 💋
Bye for now. X
This is a really nice style dress to dress up or down--as you said with tights, or blazer, or...
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim, I'm so pleased with it, and am looking forward to styling it for in a more casual way. Jacqui x
DeleteYou have certainly been living it up this week. My mouth is watering and still 1 1/2 hours before dinner.

DeleteYour week sounds way more glamorous than mine Jacqui! Think of me in my building site. The dress look fab xx
ReplyDeleteOh dear! But it will look good soon I'm sure. Thanks for stopping by Laurie. x
DeleteFabulous dress Jacqui, that's one that will take you to many places over the coming months. I tried on its longer sister but the style sadly does not suit my proportions, so that's all this season's dresses out of bounds for me sadly.

Away From Blue
That's a shame Mica, I do hope hope you find an alternative. x
DeleteJacqui, this dress is darling! And I love the gold baubly necklace. I might have just bought 4 new dresses today! Eek, they were on clearance and just too cute to pass up...3 are white and 1 is a red sweater dress. So I feel you on the cute dress thing! Thanks for linking up with me, my friend.

Many thanks Shelbee, I'll look forward to seeing them. x
DeleteYou are so brave to still don bare legs at this time a year in the UK. The wet cold weather is so uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteLol, I must be mad and when the weather is really cold I have to wear tights or trousers. x
