Toasty fingers with Turtle Doves - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
Well hasn't it been cold and wet?
It seems we have one dry day and one wet - I'm thankful that my area hasn't been struck by floods - how awful for the people suffering, my thoughts go out to them!

Are you like me and suffer from cold hands as soon as the weather changes?  It seems there's a switch inside me, going from warm hands in the summer months to frosty fingers once the weather changes!  Just like that my hands are icy cold most of the time.  Well recently something caught my eye when scrolling through Facebook.  The lady was showing off Cashmere gloves!  I was intrigued as you will be too, so do checkout the post for all the details!

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

Turtle Doves are handy gloves and cosy wrist-warmers that are made from recycled jumpers.  The theory got me thinking I just needed to try them out - you can read my conclusion further on, but first quoting from Turtle Doves* I'll let them explain all .....

We are often told that our finger-less gloves and wrist warmers really help people who suffer with cold hands, and at the same time lots of people ask us how is it possible to have warmer hands when your fingers aren't covered?  Well here's what we know....
It is well known that in hot weather running cold water over your wrists helps to cool you down.  Well the reverse is true too, if you keep your wrists warm then the blood in your hands stays warmer.
Whether you choose to stay cosier with our finger-less gloves, wrist warmers or a homemade version (the end of an old pair of wool socks will do the job nicely) keeping those wrists covered is what will help.  We are also told that it's keeping the wrists covered all day that makes the most difference.  If you cover yours wrists when you are still warm from bed and keep the cosy all day you'll feel more benefit than wearing gloves, which are often on and off all the time.  If you suffer badly with cold hands then wrist warmers and gloves worn together can be a good idea, it's best not to think of it as an either/or situation.
The same is true of your neck and your ankles, and of course your head too.  Wherever the blood is closer to the surface of the skin it has the chance to cool so protecting those areas is key.

Let's put it to the test.  Not long after I received mine my fingers and hands were freezing - they turn blue sometimes - so I pulled the soft turquoise cashmere warmers on ... they immediately felt snuggly and soft.  I was pleased to find it wasn't long before my hands and fingers felt warm, toasty hot actually.  I kept them on for quite a long time & as they were just around my wrist I carried on working in them.  So after that there's been numerous occasions to try them again.  Really happy to find they warmed my hands every time I donned them - what a brilliant idea.
It's so nice to have the option to wear them two ways, just around the wrist under or over a blouse or jumper, alternatively pop your thumb through to pull the glove further down the hand like finger-less gloves.

There's an array of colours, so why not choose a few pairs in different shades to match all your outfits, I fancy a cream pair that would be really versatile as would a black pair.  Well worth the starting price of £26.  You can see I've styled my turquoise pair with mustard.  Hubby bought me the fur hooded puffer jacket for Christmas last year, and I'm really starting to reap the benefits of it with this awfully cold weather.

Fingers free to use the phone, now that's handy!

It's not only gloves that Turtle Doves specialize in, they have a huge section for women featuring neck-warmers, headbands, jumpers, jacket and wraps among plenty of other goodies - don't worry the guys aren't forgotten, there's plenty to please them too, maybe a nice little Christmas present is waiting to be found!  Pop over for a chance to see this literally 'heartwarming' brand.

  1. I was interested to read the hypothesis about how fingerless gloves work. I’ve been seeing a lot of crochet patterns for them. This post has inspired me to get more focused on making some. I’m glad they are working so well for you!

  7. Jacqui, I love your yellow jacket! Such a great color on you and so fun for Fall! My hands are always cold, too. I was gifted a pair of cashmere writing gloves last winter and I seriously wear them every day. I often even go to bed wearing them. I need another pair because they are getting quite worn! Thanks for sharing these fun turtle dove ones!
