Cream Pleats and Paisley- #Chicandstylish #LINKUP
Hello my friends.
Thanks for staying with me during these unprecedented times. I really appreciate your support.
My days have been full of quizzes over the past few weeks and some have been driving me mad! My mum has set some brainteasers of cryptic clues of surrounding towns, and the kids have set general knowledge puzzles to stretch our brains too!
My running is going well and I'm now up to just over 3k - it's a work-in-progress but I'm aiming to increase that to running 5k with ease in the coming months.
Today is my eldest daughters' birthday - it's actually really nice to have her with me on her special day as she's been married a few years. It's been awkward to get things I need like cards, wrapping paper and gifts, but I managed to buy her something online and have also given her some money to get what she wants. I normally try and buy the whole months cards in one shop, but as that's obviously closed I've resorted to the supermarket - not much choice and hugely expensive - the big supermarket chains have the upper hand here don't they? I'm not sure how long before companies will be in uproar. I was surprised to find all sections of Tesco open and they were happy to sell anything to me - even something from the clothing department (which I must add I often buy from) but it's hugely unfair that other clothing stores are unable to open - even under the "2 metre rule"!
What are your thoughts on this?
So onto today's outfit ..... Another from my closet that you've seen before in a different guise.
The pleated skirt which came from M & S a while ago is a firm favourite for warmer days - it's neutral beige with a gold sheen running over it. I've worn it a multitude of ways, and as it's a basic colour there's so many options for it. Today I've picked out the gold/beige in the paisley design of my silky blouse. Again you've seen this on the blog paired with my palazzo trousers and aztec jacket.
Let's give you a quick run down of the outfit. I've layered the blouse over a plain tee shirt for warmth - it's still chilly outside even in the sunshine. This blouse has been a firm friend over the past years and always looks as good as when I first bought it from H & M. The paisley pattern is often in fashion so a purchase of this design will see you right for years. Mine is a stunning navy blue with light blue, cream and gold running over it. It also looks great with jeans too.
Pleated skirts never go out of fashion do they? I have quite a few & feel very sophisticated when I wear any of them. You can see mine with tassel boots and a cute short sleeved blouse & in a Style Steal with a white jumper and baseball flats.
I felt like dressing up today, so have opted for gorgeous pearls - I fancied wearing a few so picked three longs stands with a choker style at my neck - it's all about adding interest to an outfit don't you think! check out this beauty on Amazon for a snip of a price.
Now about these court shoes - Can you believe I've had them for years - probably nearly 5 and have never worn them! They are very comfortable, look great and have a suitable-for-anything height heel. I don't even have an excuse for not wearing them, just not fancied them at the time! I intend to change that this year - watch this space! These are really similar if you'd like some (not to leave in your wardrobe - lol)

Jacqui, I love this paisley blouse! Such a pretty color and one of my favorite prints. It pairs beautifully with that gorgeous pleated skirt, too. I am glad that you have your daughter at home with you during this time!

It is isn't it Pamela - I can't wait to be out of lock-down and back to normal wearing spring/summer clothes. xx
DeleteA lovely outfit Jacqui and I agree pleated skirts are always in style, I wore one for my very quiet wedding 23 years ago! Enjoy the birthday celebrations with your daughter, I am sure she won't mind that it was difficult to get much sorted out. I am having a quieter day today and catching up with some admin stuff! Love Michelle xx

Thanks so much for your support, I'm running again tomorrow! x
DeleteHi Jacqui
ReplyDeleteIt does seem the big boxed stores can sell just about anything. As long as they are selling groceries, they are open. Great job on the running! I used to run some before EDS and now just walk when I get outside. You have a great goal though! Love the light pleated skirt with the paisley print! Very pretty!

I love the combination of the beige abd and navy. Very elegant.
ReplyDeleteI now have one pleated skirt in my closet but haven't really worn pleated skirts since I was a child. I love your layering of pearls. Pearls are such a classic and dress up any outfit and look great with every time of outfit. Been doing a lot of shopping online so have now decided to give it a break for a while. I have multiple packages coming this coming week and need to have some self control!

Love your skirt :)
ReplyDeleteIt's good to get out of the loungewear isn't it. I relished the idea of not having to get dressed at the beginning of the lockdown but the novelty has worn off now! A great look Jacqui and I love the pearls xx
ReplyDeleteAnother great classic outfit, Jacqui! I love your pearls! I wore mine a lot when I was working full-time, and you've inspired me to pull them out again!
ReplyDeleteIt is unfair with who is making lots of money right now and who is totally closed up. We'll all have to do our part to support small businesses when this is over. I just hope they can make it back!
xx Darlene
That blouse is beautiful! I love the print!
ReplyDeleteHey thank you so much for featuring me!That's so nice of you- I'm happy you like my style! And look at you in these perfect neutrals- I love the way you paired this blouse with this pretty beige skirt. Very chic!
ReplyDeleteOur government announced that the rules will be until the end of May and yet we suddenly see restaurants and ice shops open up over sudden! Crazy! I love your classic elegant look, pleated skirts are such fun to wear!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty look, Jacqui. I think I need to get a pleated skirt for spring/summer. I agree businesses should be able to start carefully opening. The lockdown is unsustainable, so many people are losing their jobs.
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely to see someone dressed up when everyone else is in sweatsuits! Such an elegant look!

Happy birthday to your daughter! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great look, I like the printed blouse with the pleated skirt :) It must be hard having a clothing store right now, I know they can still sell online but I haven't been shopping or felt the urge to go shopping for fashion things at all - not even bags! It's a very strange world we are in.
Hope that you are having a lovely weekend :)
Away From Blue
Jacqui, what a pretty outfit. I love that top and as you say it will go with so many things, casual or dressy. Great outfit. Things here in the US are still mainly closed down. As you said, if you want to shop you either have to do it online or at the grocery stores. We do have a number of groceries stores that also have clothes, toys, etc. We will all be happy when/if things can get back to a more normal way of life. Stay safe. - Amy

Such an elegant outfit Jacqui! I'm glad I'm not the only one who keeps shoes in the box unworn for years! The supermarkets have really got us by the short and curlies when it comes to "non-essential" items haven't they? Other than shopping online there's not much choice, and all of the usual promotions have stopped so a lot of things are more expensive. I can get quite stubborn and refuse to buy things if I think shops are taking the mickey...like my nearest Tesco Express which is always lots more expensive than the bigger stores. I think we're beginning to realise that we can do without lots of things!
