Hi there dear friends.
It's all getting a bit much isn't it? I want this to be over and done with - it's beyond a joke now!!!
I didn't actually think I was high maintenance, but with lock-down still in place I'm 100% used to being well maintained! I have a list as long as my arm of things that need 'doing'. My nails are hideous! I always have gel nails done either at the salon or more recently my daughter has recently qualified so she does them. I'm proud of how my nails look and am seldom seen without beautifully manicured fingers! I've tried using Rimmel 60 seconds polish - I like the fact it's fast drying, but unfortunately hate the colours and dull flat look they leave. I bought a gorgeous cerise pink the other day - but it definitely doesn't do "what is says on the tin" it's not remotely the same colour!!! I've also picked up a Rimmel Top coat, but picked up the wrong one so need to exchange it!
My eyelashes are in need of lots, and I mean lots of attention. My daughter usually puts extensions on them, but she's not allowed out so hasn't been able to do them - shame. Waxing? Now waxing is another story, and I literally can't wait for the salon to open - now that will be an experience I can tell you! Enough said about that the better. 🤣
Now let's talk hair. That IS a more positive story, I've been watching some YouTube videos about fringe trimming, so I've cut my own!!! Yes it worked out alright and I'll be doing more in the future having also purchased some thinning scissors! What about the colour I hear you ask. I'm a slave to my roots and have them 'done' every 6 weeks - yes 6 weeks! It cost's a fortunate - so having to stay indoors with no salons opening any time soon I've resorted to buying a home colour and doing-it-myself, well I say myself my eldest did it for me on Monday night. I'm really pleased with the outcome. The shade is a brilliant match, it was fairly easy to apply and washed off easily - with a wonderful smelling conditioner leaving it shiny, smooth and super soft. Costing £7 from my local chemist, the L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss (darkest brown) application has really impressed me. So long as it lasts the 28 washes it suggests I may well be converted!!
With comfy clothing all the rage for the time being I'm delighted to feature an outfit gifted by Bonmarche. They have a vast selection of stylish, comfy, trendy as well as classic pieces which are just perfect for casual styling, but with the added advantage of being able to be dressed up a notch for fancy functions. Take a look at my choice of jeans and graphic tee which is really soft to touch and feels relaxing to wear too!
Available in sizes 10 - 28 the £18 pair of jeans comes in four leg lengths for the same price!
Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
Let's take a quick look around my outfit. I chose the Sara Straight leg jean in mid-indigo.* They fit true to size with elasticated sides which are a dream to wear. I was rather dubious about elastic waistbands and I'm still not sure about how they look but I wore a belt as I like to do & it can't be seen. Therefore the fit is spot on & I might just be swayed. Available in sizes 10 - 28 the £18 pair of jeans comes in four leg lengths for the same price - big tick from me as it's nice to have different leg lengths to suit different shoes.
Typical additions include pockets back and front on both sides, zipper fastening with top button and double stitching detail too. I'm impressed so far and will be giving more thought to trying another style - possibly the Betty Boot-cut or Susie Slim Leg.
Above you can see the figure hugging fit, which isn't too tight and hasn't gone baggy or loose anywhere either!
Happy in the sunshine in my 'Happy' T- shirt.* Here's the long sleeve top I thought would be a sensible choice for the on-going situation. As soon as I put it on I knew I was right. The grey marl T will certainly be worn plenty of times and will see me right through Spring and into Summer. As with my jeans this is true to size and I'm happily wearing a size 12 which has a soft feel with a scoop neck, 3/4 length sleeves and can be worn tucked in or left to casually hang over. Coming in at a reasonable price of £14 I'm very tempted to buy this floral logo T-shirt too!
If I feel happy in what I wear & I spread happiness in what I do!

Your hair looks fantastic! And that is a super cute casual outfit. I love elastic in the waist as long as it can be covered, because it’s really unusual to get a waist that’s just right.

Ha ha ha, I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day, about high maintenance. I've done my own nails, I have acrylic ones and they are half my own half acrylic now. But they are red! I also go to the hairdresser every 6 weeks for my roots. I hacker had a haircut in 5 months now!! The horror. Thanks for the feature, such a lovely surprise. And you look sexy in those jeans!!
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favourite features that Bonmarche provides the different leg lengths Jacqui. I like these ones that you're wearing. I rarely set foot in a beauty salon. A manicure and pedicure every six months is me done! Have you tried the Rimmel Gel polish? xx
ReplyDeleteThe curly hair scrunchie is so cute - what a great idea! My mother in law's funeral is tomorrow and it dawned on me that I will have to paint my toe nails since my shoes are open toed - oh how I wish I could get a pedicure!

Such a fun tee! I have been living in jeans and tees when I haven't been lazing around in pyjamas and loungewear, haha! I had a big meeting today over zoom so I actually dressed up for a change - jeans and a tee of course!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link up!
Hope that you are having a good week :)

Your hair looks super! That scrunchie matches perfectly and the color looks natural! Glad you found something that works. My feet are what need help and even though the nail salons have opened here (I think) I will wait till June to go. I did text my friend to see if she can cut my hair and highlight it at the end of the month, I usually go to her house.

I love your graphic tee, Jacqui! And your hair looks adorable that way. I usually color my own hair except for about once a year, I go for a professional cut and color. But now my hair is getting so long that dying it myself is becoming quite tedious. So I am definitely ready for a professional color at this point. But we do what we must!

You hair looks great, your daughter did a fabulous job with it! And yes, I totally thought the bun was your own hair!
ReplyDeleteLoving your casual look!

I love the Happy slogan! Just what we need. Your hair looks great. My hair is the only area where I'm high maintenance and I'm just going to have to put up with the roots! I couldn't lighten them myself. Enjoy the bank holiday xx
ReplyDeleteYou did such a great job with your bangs and color! Your hair is so pretty pulled up in a bun!
ReplyDeleteJill - Doused in Pink
Thanks for the party. I've had to dye my roots once and now they are in need of another touch up. I miss my salon so much,
ReplyDeletelove the love top and that belt !!

That is the perfect tee to bring some needed positivity! I think you did a great job on your hair! I can't wait to get in for a pedicure too!
ReplyDeleteSalon businesses are really going to bounce back fast! It's so great you found a DIY hair color that you're happy with. You look really comfortable--I bought one pair of elastic waist pants and I ended up not liking the brand I bought--they kept sagging down.
ReplyDeleteNice job on your fringe Jacqui! And your hair color looks great! I have been going on 8.5 weeks since my hair has been done and my stylist ordered my color to mix- it may be another 2-3 weeks. Lots of white and grey coming in! Love the wash of your jeans, looks great with the belt. Your tee is really nice too, I like the design! Did you ever try Essie Gel? That is what I am using now.

I love your "happy" outfit! It's the perfect blend of comfy and casual. I had to laugh about your reflections on being high-maintenance. Lol! I guess we all are to some degree as we try to take care of ourselves and look our best. My gel nails are now gone and I'm still working on growing them in. I did my own polish and it wasn't very pretty!! Haha! Your hair turned out beautifully and I love the scrunchy! It will be nice to have some sense of normalcy again. Take care.

Boy does this post resonate with me! My HAIR- Someone HELP please, along with nails, waxing, lashes...I get you girl! I do love that curly scrunchy- great idea actually!
ReplyDeleteLady, I cannot wait to get my hair done. I am almost 2 months overdue for a haircut and am stretching my roots out waaaaay longer than I should. That said, I think you look fab, and props to you for putting on trousers with a waistband! ;)

I adore my curly hair scrunchie, it is on repeat, especially with me at home and not wanting to use hair straighteners. Looking great
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks lovely, Jacqui. What a great t-shirt :) Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks really lovely up like this, and I love the Happy tee! I am so missing my salon visits, I am desperate for a nail appointment, polish just isn't lasting so I have given up and my pedicure needs to come off now, I have lasted it out for as long as I can! And wax ... well yes! My home hair colour efforts are okay but badly need a cut. I sound so spoilt! Love Michelle xx
ReplyDeleteThis is a great casual outfit for you Jacqui. The jeans look fab and I must admit I'm pretty partial to a bit of stretch at the moment too.
ReplyDeleteWell done with your hair colouring - it seems to have worked really well. My grey roots are starting to show, but I'm not brave enough to resort to home dyeing as yet!
Take care x
What a fabulous job your daughter did on your hair and I just love the scrunchie bun! You look gorgeous and I do think you might be able to give up the hairdresser! I've done my own cut and color for years but at some point the cut doesn't look good any more and then I go to my hairdresser to have it fixed. She loves when I do that. And that is the best T-shirt - it looks just wonderful on you, as do the jeans. What a great thing to find jeans you love and find that they come in other lengths, too!
