Thanks for stopping by today.
How's your week going? I've got everything crossed that we come out of lock-down next week and have a bit more freedom. I want to get my shopping sorted as I hate buying online (remember I told you that before lol).
Mummab's household is looking rather festive with the installation of my Christmas tree and some outside lights. I'm gradually adding to it and love how warm and inviting everything looks. Have you put any decorations us yet? I haven't bought any more ornaments this year (although it's still early - but don't tell the kids) but I have purchased some new lights. My tree has been covered with three sets over the years, but with a set failing last year and the numerous plugs needed I thought I should be a new set. Lidl have opened a new store down the road and I found 1000 lights for only £24 - bargain. They have a few different settings and are a homely warm white which looks fabulous amid my gold and copper baubles. You can't purchase Lidl online, but here's some from Amazon that are very similar.
Now shall we take a look at my latest attempt at pattern mixing? This is very adventurous for me as I don't feel this is my "thing" - but it doesn't look too bad does it, my friends!
Last minute before walking out the door to take photos with Esther I decided to have another look at pattern mixing. Some bloggers do it so well and make it seem really easy so here's my latest offering. I'm taking baby steps at this stage and hopefully I'm getting it right. Do let me know what you think!
So here's a little bit about this look today.
I wanted to style this black and white shirt dress for winter. I popped on a pair of wide legs and looked for a top. I had in mind a plain black roll neck, but couldn't find it! So this silky patterned version came to hand and I basically went for it! I simply held the garments together in front of the mirror, nodded a silent affirmation and left. It's actually an interesting combination especially finished off with the chic black hat too.
I find wide leg palazzo trousers are really flattering. They create an illusion of longer legs especially if you wear corresponding footwear. I'm wearing black ankle boots that have a good heel height. Flats don't really work with longer trousers - although I have worn trainers with them which looked cool and I'd happily don again!
So you might not remember seeing my shirt dress before but it has been on the blog back in August last year. Whilst shopping for holiday clothes for hubby (sorry - do you remember what a holiday is?? lol) I just had to have a look in Roman Originals to see if anything needed to be included in my packing - fortunately for me this little beauty was crying out to be taken. It's a good length - just below the knee, and has slight cap sleeves and a cute little collar.
I excited to say it's still available for a stunning sale price of £24 - grab it now!
There's also 20% off when you spend over £50 use code HURRY at checkout - offer valid until 30th November.
The slinky roll neck is from a selection in H & M. I bought this last year and just love how smooth it feels against my skin, so much so I've picked one up in leopard print too! This one caught my eye too!
I'll be sharing the boots on the blog next week, the imi-suede boots have a striking ankle detail that you'll love - don't forget to stop back my lovelies. 💓

It's party time. #Chicandstylish #LINKUP is live now!
Last week I had over fifty entries to Chic & Stylish and here's the favourite from Lizzie - Lizzie in Lace who's showing us her dark floral outfit proving flowers work in cooler weather as much as they do in Summer.
Now let's start linking up.
Here are some guidelines.
Link up your fashion and beauty posts, other topics allowed.
We all like to get compliments, so please leave a nice comment when visiting a blog or two.
Also link back to Mummabstylish blog post.
You could also share the love on social media.
Esther Ruby took these photos for me and we had fun dodging the puddles and each other (social distancing of course).
Thanks for dropping in today. Catch you on Monday for November's Style not Age featuring a bit of Sparkle!!!
Bye for now. X
I don't do pattern mixing much Jacqui. It's being short that puts me off of trying. I'm loving the hat. I'm thinking that could be what I buy during black Friday. Love a Fedora but will it love me? I'm hoping to get my tree up soon! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try more in 2021! Oh and I want more hats too. x

Many thanks Mica, kind words. x
DeleteIt looks striking and I love it! I really like when people do pattern mixing with the same colors: I have tried that yet so I need to look at my closet and see if I can come up with something. I have started decorating a little and will add more gradually over the next 10 days. Not sure when I will put the main tree up but probably after the 1st week of December.

So pleased it work Mireille, kind words too. x
DeleteJacqui, I think you did a marvelous job with this print mix! I love mixing prints but when I first started doing it I stuck with black and white as well because it is easier. Now that you are a print mixing pro, you can start adding in a third color and a third print. For example, I think snakeskin shoes would look really cool with this outfit (even red snakeskin) or something like that! Keep playing around with it because I think you've got it!

ReplyDeleteArrh, thank you so much. Just learning the art! x
DeleteI absolutely love this outfit Jacqui! The two prints work so well together, and the hat is the perfect finishing touch! We're on the same wavelength because I've just done some outfit photos mixing two different black and white prints. I haven't got my Christmas decorations up yet...I've got to tidy up all the lego and make a space for the tree yet!
