Out and About with Style not Age

Morning my lovelies.
Well how did it go?
Well I hadn't REALLY anticipated the Christmas I've just had!  I got a present that most definitely wasn't on my list - yes Covid! In fact half the house had it & the other two are now showing signs. For me it's been like a bad cold, coughing and tight chest & feeling very tired. I'm starting to feel better each day and feel I'm over the worst, but it's been a worrying time for me and the family.

I do hope you managed to have an enjoyable time over Christmas despite bloody Covid!
I think there's many preparations for a second Christmas one day when this is all over - let's pray it's not too far away. Anyone had the vaccine yet?  Looking at the calculator I won't be due until May/June time, so that's going to be a long and boring wait eh!
But let's not dwell on that, shall we talk about the last of 2020 Style not Age challenge?
It was left to Hilda to come up with a topic and she's left it wide open with the prompt of ....

'Out and About'

If only I'd been able to get out and about recently but all my plans were scuppered.  I didn't manage to finish my Christmas shopping so I did a lot of online shopping and everything else I just had to give up.  We had a fair festive period and can't wait to see the rest of the family for a proper Berry Christmas. X
Today's prompt has been a helpful one for me as I haven't been able to meet up with Esther Ruby to take any photos, and this outfit was already photo'd and in the bag!

Cool and Casual in the Boyd High Top Trainer from Van-Dal.

Morning all.
Well that's us in Tier 4, didn't realise it went up that high!!!  So I'm feeling well and truly fed up now, how about you?  I was planning on getting my last minute presents ( I know I had planned to have everything done) today, but Covid and Mr Johnson had other ideas.  So I've been doing what I hate....online shopping.  It's just not the same as seeing something in the shops and just buying is it!  So by the end of today what I haven't got quite frankly is tough!
I've been doing so much running around lately these new trainers have been a god-send.  So pleased when Van-Dal Shoes and I collaborated again with this trendy pair of trainers. The Boyd high-top trainer in black and leopard print are so easy to walk in, don't rub or give any pain and look bang on trend. I absolutely adored wearing these white sandals way back in the hot weather and these are no different. X
Don't you just love the Boyd* high-top trainer in black and leopard print or you might prefer the conker & animal print version!

What I'm Wearing Christmas Day - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my lovely friends.
Hope you are all doing well, staying safe and are most definitely still sane!
What have you been up to?  I've had a busy week and am looking forward to a post-Christmas rest - it'll be nice to enjoy some down-time and lazy TV days - how about you?

Last Tuesday I managed to use my Mother's Day voucher in my local beauty salon.  The kids had bought it so I could have a facial.  I'd decided to embrace a new beauty routine this year, involving facials and home beauty treatments so the gift voucher would start the process.  Unfortunately Covid struck so I haven't been able to use it.  However I did start my own skin care regime after being introduced to Neal's Yard Remedies & am impressed with the results.
Yesterday I actually went into town shopping - relieved to say I'm nearly done.  My daughter is coming for dinner in exchange for wrapping my pressies, which is going to be so helpful.  I also looked after my grandson for a few hours which was a joy!  It involved crawling on the floor barking like a dog and rolling cars to and from him - ha ha ha.
I managed to track down the magazine I'd been after - Yours Magazine is specifically aimed at my age group and I've enjoyed reading it from front to back.  It just so happens I got myself featured again, yes  You can read all about what I'll be wearing on Christmas Day along with another couple of bloggers choices.

Tan Boots from Lotus Shoes.

Morning my lovelies.
How you all doing?
Are you ready?  Well that's the big question on everyone's lips, but we still have a few days don't we, so no need to worry. 😁
You know the story, you've heard it all before but I HAD planned to have everything done by now - BUT I am nearly there - honestly.
You may remember I've been doing up the spare room!  All the decorating is finished, curtains are up, carpet is down and I've a statement piece waiting to share with you all ..... AND I've managed to order the Ikea wardrobe and Billy Bookcase I've been after.  It's being delivered on 22nd, and I'm anticipating they might be built, in place and filled by Christmas. 🤞
Which is just as well because my footwear collection is getting bigger by the week.  I'm sharing another pair of boots from Lotus Shoes with you today - a fabulous little bootie with a serving of leopard print on the side.

Hotter shoes - Brierley Boots - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hello and welcome to my over fifty fashion blog.
I'm pleased you stopped by today as I've an exciting pair of boots to share with you.
Firstly a little about my week.  It's been a mixture so far with a day out shopping with two of my girls.  I got a hand-full of presents which are now waiting to be wrapped.  This year I'm taking on the feeling of buying with out worrying.  Every year I ponder each and every present, wasting time as I do.  I'm just over half way and am feeling very positive about the whole experience.  I think Covid has done this & probably better for it!
Tuesday evening I had a "Zoom" get-together with the girls I used to work with - now I have to say "used to work with them" if not my hubby laughs when I say "the work girls" as I've not worked with them for over 30 years! 😂 DISCLAIMER:  I don't go to work, but I do work - he he.
Seven of us managed to get onto zoom and have a great evening, albeit rather annoying we had sessions of 40mins and kept having to re-connect.  We had a little quiz that I even managed to come joint first!  How that happened I'll never know!
Today I'm staying in, well there' not much else to do, it's going to be a blogging day as I want to get things in place for the next few weeks.  It normally starts going quiet this time of the year doesn't it, so will be nice to take advantage of the down-time from blogging.
Okay about this outfit.  I worked with Hotter shoes earlier this year, and you can see the two sandals that clicked for me here & here.  I've worn them both quite a lot over the summer months and inspired my sister to buy a pair too!

November Review.

Morning all.
Well what have you been up to?
I'm so excited as hubby and I have been decorating the spare room.  I've wanted a walk-in dressing room and have a stunning one planned on our new build but simply can't wait for that to happen.  So once the children moved out we've been hard at work painting and decorating arranging carpets, wardrobes, curtains and the ever popular Billy Bookcase from Ikea (so popular apparently one is sold every 5 seconds 🤯)  Once it's all finished I'll share some piccys with you as I've got a real statement piece that I'm thrilled with. x

I didn't post much in November but what I did share I'm condensing for you in today's post -

Lotus Shoes - The Whitney Boot with Dress & Teddy Coat.

Morning my lovely friends.
Wow!  December already, where has the year gone.
I know it's been wrapped up and hidden away waiting to be unleashed free from the virus, when will that happen who knows.
I know you all feel the same but I REALLY want this year to be over, not only have we dealt with isolating, staying at home and not seeing our family and friends our family has had a few blows that have left us sad, upset and needing big hugs all the time.  I do hope we can kick goodbye to 2020 and welcome a new and promising 2021.

So let's cheer ourselves up with an idea for a Christmas gift.  I'm always up for a pair of boots and these from Lotus Shoes are right up my street.  Black imi-suede always looks impressive so with the addition of a gold chain and buckle bringing them on trend these are the boots you simply must have!

Style Not Age - A Touch of Sparkle.

Hi there my friends.
Hope you're all well.
Turn's out I was right, my area will now be going into Tier 3!  I guessed this would happen as the figures are so high, I also know people who've had the dreaded virus so It's only a matter of time before someone close gets it - I just hope it won't be too severe. 🙏🙏
I'll be concentrating on my Xmas present buying from now on as I had expected to be finished by now! After taking a few weeks off of blogging and doing anything other than essentials its put me somewhat on the back foot!

Being the last Monday of the month it's time to take a look at the gang from Style not Age.
We looked to Anna for November's title and she didn't fail us with her festive and up-lifting choice

My first proper go at pattern mixing! - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my lovely friends.
Thanks for stopping by today.
How's your week going?  I've got everything crossed that we come out of lock-down next week and have a bit more freedom.  I want to get my shopping sorted as I hate buying online (remember I told you that before lol).
Mummab's household is looking rather festive with the installation of my Christmas tree and some outside lights.  I'm gradually adding to it and love how warm and inviting everything looks.  Have you put any decorations us yet?  I haven't bought any more ornaments this year (although it's still early - but don't tell the kids) but I have purchased some new lights.  My tree has been covered with three sets over the years, but with a set failing last year and the numerous plugs needed I thought I should be a new set.  Lidl have opened a new store down the road and I found 1000 lights for only £24 - bargain.  They have a few different settings and are a homely warm white which looks fabulous amid my gold and copper baubles. You can't purchase Lidl online, but here's some from Amazon that are very similar.

Now shall we take a look at my latest attempt at pattern mixing?  This is very adventurous for me as I don't feel this is my "thing" - but it doesn't look too bad does it, my friends!

The Rudi Mask Collection.

Morning my friends.
Hope you are all okay.
Hello from a very quiet house today - yes my daughter and her family have moved out!  I'm not going to lie I'm looking forward to having more time to blog, but hand on my heart I loved having them here and will miss them so much.  I'm so lucky to have had them here with me when so many families couldn't hug and kiss their loved ones.  I don't think I quite realised just how hard it is for people unable to have contact with their extended family - we all thrive on human contact don't we!
With three vaccines available in the not-so-distant-future I'm going to be first in line & pray we can get back to normal.  It's not even the holiday's, eating out or going to the pub that I'm missing (although I wouldn't say no) it's the contact with friends and family that I'm missing the most.  Will you be having the jab?  I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. X

Masks are an everyday accessory for us all now aren't they.  They come in all sorts of designs, patterns and colours.  We've started to use them as an extension to our outfits and if like me you've been trying to match them to your outfit, this post might be right up your street.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

They are an exclusive range of Italian, handmade masks which offer peace of mind and comfort as you go about the 'new normal' way of life.

October Review.

Morning everyone.
The beginning of another strange week for us in the UK.  We are going into lock-down as of Thursday.  This is for a month or possibly longer!  I think the aim is to get over the spike and return figures to a better level in order to have some sort of normal Christmas.  Like everyone else I have mixed emotions about the whole thing, but hope and pray it will be a positive outcome.
You will have read I had a busy week with plenty of birthdays to celebrate. On Friday my middle daughter turned 30!  She had a quiet meal with her hubby on Friday evening which she loved.  Saturday was another day of surprises with cocktails at a local bar with me and four others.  It was a ploy by her husband to get her out the house so he could decorate and prepare food (most done by my other daughter - Little Berry Bakes)  She came home to an intimate little family gathering with drinks and snacks and a celebration cake.
Graze boards seem to be very popular these days and that's just what Sophie did - she spent most of the morning cooking, baking and arranging everything on the board - it looked amazing as you can see below!
Sunday was a slow day as you can imagine.  I'm actually looking forward to a restful week, although lock-down is taking it to the extreme isn't it!!!
So as it's the beginning of November today I'm sharing my October Review.  You can catch all the posts you might have missed here. X

Great to have you join me today.  Do stop by tomorrow as there will be a ONE OFF BLOG POST for the #7DaySkirtChallenge with Gail - Is This Mutton?  Do pop by and join in - it's a skirts only linkup though!

Birthday & Busy Week - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my friends.
Hope you are well.
I've had a busy week with a few birthdays to celebrate.
On Saturday I actually went out, out!  My friends birthday on Monday meant 6 friends met in a local restaurant for a slap up Italian meal on Saturday night.  We all had a wonderful evening and all agreed it was much needed. It's was really nice to get dolled up in a pretty dress for a change.  I wore this cute red dress with some black ankle boots (will share on the blog soon).
I was left a little dumb founded with the wearing of masks.  I had to wear one whilst entering and walking to the table and also if needing the loo.  But whilst sitting at the table and people around me sitting at their tables not wearing anything - obviously! Why do we need them whilst walking around! There were also thin perspex sheets hanging between tables in some areas, and not in others.  I'm bemused to think the virus couldn't spread anyway.  I suppose restaurants have to be seen to be doing something don't they!
Yesterday was my mum's birthday & as she's not been going out my sister and I decided to take an Afternoon Tea to her.  I took scones, jam and cream, a cake my daughter (Little Berry Bakes) made, caramelised onion quiche and prosecco and my sister bought some quality sandwiches.  We set the table just like we'd be in a fancy restaurant and enjoyed a few cups of tea whilst devouring the tasty fare.
Today I'll be having my fringe trimmed, fringe-gate is the on going saga of my fringe. I don't mean to be awkward but each visit I seem to what something different, it's too full, too thin, too long or too short, I want it curved, straight or feathered!!! My hairdresser just does what I ask and never asks any questions - lol.  This afternoon I'm seeing my friend for a drink and chat - she's my Neal's Yard specialist, so I might come home with something on my wish list! 😉
Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday, it's a big one so I'll tell you all about it next week.

Style not Age - Gothic Romance.

Hi there everyone - thanks for joining me today.
Can we really be in the last week of October already?  With Halloween next weekend it won't be long and I'll be putting my Christmas decorations up!  Yes really Hubby and I have decided we are going to start the festivities early in order to bring on Christmas, some fun times and the end to a very bad year!
You might remember last week I told you I've started buying some gifts already & with another shopping trip under my belt I've managed to cross off quite a few from my list - hopefully I'll get everything done and dusted before there's any sign of queues outside shops or items out of stock!
I had another wonderful weekend with the family.  If you saw my IG stories you'll have seen I went pumpkin picking with my grand-kids.  Something I've never done, and if the weather's that bad again it might be my last - lol.  We had rain all morning, and the field was full of sticky mud with plenty of puddles to splash about in - fortunately I wore my wellies - I've had them for years and really need to get a new pair.  Maybe I'll invest in this pair from Joules, they could last me another 30 years!  I came home with about 8 pumpkins of different sizes, the kids just kept adding to the basket.  Some have been carved and are outside already.  I'm going to carve mine when I have a spare five minutes and maybe make a soup or something with the insides.

Okay let's get back to the task in hand.
As it's the last Monday of the month it's the turn of the ladies from Style not Age to complete their latest challenge.  This month has been set by Emma and her choice of Gothic Romance proved a rather hard topic!  As I had no idea I went online for a bit of inspiration. This is what I came up with!

Neutrals with a Hobbs Jacket - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
What you up to?
Keep your ears covered if you don't want to hear about the 'C' word - no not Covid the other one!
Christmas is literally just around the corner and I've started to buy some presents!  With half price toy sales going on all over the show I thought it would be a good time to start.  I have bought four already and am planning more shopping trips in the coming days to make sure I have the majority bought by the end of November - let's see how that pans out!
If you'd joined me over the past couple of weeks you'll have seen I've been embracing the neutral-shades-bus.  I'm still not convinced they are really 'me' but for the time being I'm going with it.
I know they've been on repeat since I got them, but quite honestly these trousers are just perfect for the seasons changing temperatures.
Last week I teamed a navy blouse over them and before that they pulled together my lightweight trench and new floral top

Today I've picked my gorgeous Chanel style jacket which has biscuit flecks as well as pale coral tones too.  I wore a matching blush top that has to be a mainstay of my wardrobe ( - along with the other shades I own - cream, black and bright yellow), I wish I'd bought more colours as they have so much to offer.

Grey and Green Together - Yes It Works.

Morning my friends.
How are you all?
What a super weekend I've had, well it started on Friday.
My son finally got to marry his sweetheart in an intimate gathering of 15.  Fifteen not by choice, but  due to Covid, we made the best of the day and literally had an amazing time.  I will be posting all about it soon, so do stop back to see it.
As you can imagine Saturday and Sunday have been very slow.  I had breakfast at the venue on Saturday morning and came home to relax and replay the previous day in my head.  It was truly a magical occasion with everything perfect, or as perfect as it could have been considering the circumstances.
So before I run away with my dreaming let me tell you about my latest look for my grey trousers.  A favourite for this time of the year.  I'm after a pair in seasonal tan as I've so much to go with them - I have just found and bagged these from New Look - so will see what they are like.

Navy and Biscuit Neutrals - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there.
How you doing?
Well my dress is ready as are my shoes, bag and fascinator - my nails are being painted today and I'm just waiting for the big day to arrive, my son gets married tomorrow!  It's been long awaited since being postponed in June and although it's been reduced to only 15 family members I've got my fingers crossed they'll have a wonderful day.   I'll be sharing my outfit on the blog soon, so hope you'll stop back to check it out.

I'm sharing another neutral outfit on the blog today. You've seen all these pieces in the past, but not together.  When I got my culottes I knew they'd have plenty of options & I really love biscuit and navy together.  You can see two previous looks here with a sunflower top & here with my new top from H & M.

My New Neutrals.

Morning my friends.
Hope you are all well.
I'd like to start today off with a big Happy Birthday to Esther Ruby! 🎈
With my busy household at the moment I've yet to changeover my summer wardrobe for more warmer attire. I am planning to do it sometime .... err ... very soon!  I need to get things sorted as I have clothes and footwear absolutely everywhere!  The trouble with having all the seasons clothing around and nowhere to put it means I can't really see anything to be able to match, plan and keep track of.  Watch this space for the mammoth task being completed. 😏
I need to be making room for new pieces like the sweet mint green and biscuit top I wore with neutral culottes and lightweight trench coat last week, and this long line cardigan I picked up in the Marks and Spencer sale along with a caramel snake print shirt from H & M!

Relaxing in Playtex - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
How are you all.
On Tuesday I ventured out to get my wedding outfit ......happy to say I found something and having already some suitable shoes, bag & fascinator hat I'm all set.  It's going to be a strange wedding for sure, with only 15, yes 15 people allowed to attend.  I'm absolutely gutted for my son and his future wife.  They've spent the past couple of years planning, buying, dreaming and looking forward to getting married, already having had to postpone it in June.  All the rules the government have set down seem very unfair to some, for example we can attend the hen afternoon tea the week before at the same venue with over twenty people - very unjust!  They could have postponed again for a date next year, but quite frankly they just want to get married now, so fifteen close family will be there to witness their marriage and enjoy a meal and few drinks.  I'll keep you posted about my outfit and how the day goes (it's not until a couple of weeks though).

A while ago I was asked to style some pretty lingerie, I toyed with the idea wondering if I should or shouldn't commit, I did - and you can catch the Playtex underwear set here. I figured it was just like being on the beach in a bikini.   When Playtex asked me if I'd like to review another set I happily said yes knowing if I'd done it once I could do it again.  Now lock-down hasn't been very kind to me, I've eaten what I wanted to and drunk a glass or two more often than I care to admit!  So for this post the photos aren't quite as revealing as the previous post - but you'll get the gist of just how lovely the set is.

September Review.

Good morning everyone.
What you all up to?
Grand-kids are back and it's like they've never been away.  The house is coming on though, so with talk of the kitchen being fitted along with carpets being ordered I don't think it will be long and I'll be bidding them farewell. 😢
Another month has flown by and the thought of Christmas and festivities has been entering my head.  I've made some lists and plan to get all my presents bought and wrapped way before there's any fear of long queues for me to worry about - that's the plan anyway!
So as we've entered October it's time to step back in time for the September Review.
Another mixed bag last month dominated by my white culotte trousers.  They're so adaptable for different occasions and can be dressed up or down as the mood takes me.  It seems they're nearly as flexible as my jeans although no denim was posted on the blog last month, guaranteed I lived in them.  I'm after another pair for winter but have yet to find the right ones, I'll keep you posted guys.

Neutrals for Autumn - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
How are you all?
Been a funny old week for me.  My daughter and family, who are living with me, have gone off for a few days away!  It's been very odd to say the least!  Extremely quiet, dare I say tidy and rather boring!  No impromptu cuddles, toys on the floor, kids programs on the telly or a big den in the front room! 😄
They are back on Friday and I'm sure once they're home it will be like they've never left, it will get me used to them eventually moving on to their new property though.  Not looking forward to that one bit!

It has given me the opportunity to get back into blogging though and I've planned quite a few posts in advance - so that's going to be very helpful & I'll have more precious time to make memories with the grand-kids eh!
I've only bought a couple of Autumnal bits so far, and this little top from H & M is one of them.  I spotted it and felt it would adapt many clothes already in my wardrobe and get them ready for our new season.

Style not Age ... All Dressed up with nowhere to go!

Good morning my friends.
Glad you stopped by, you're just in time to see the latest from the ladies of the Style not Age collective.
It's fallen into my hands this month and I immediately knew what the title would be since we are all still in semi lock-down with a maximum of 6 people at a gathering! 😠  I was supposed to be out at my sister-in-law's on Saturday night, which would have been right up my street to get dressed up for a few drinks, some yummy snacks, laughter & dancing to the Juke Box, but Mr Johnson and Covid had other ideas.  I worry that all this will have a detrimental affect on our mindset if it carries on! I dread to think of the figures of suicides, abuse, mental issues and the like.  There's nothing to look forward to, no nights out with lots of friends, no parties and no holidays (without the fear of self isolation).  We need to have more than this in our lives - or else what's the point?  Sorry to be so negative, it just gets to me sometimes!
Despite the inability to go out I had a very productive weekend at my daughter's new property, well I say me I mean my family.  We managed to lay turf in the garden (just in time for wet weather which is helpful) and the boys fitted bi-fold doors on my daughter's new extension.  It looks amazing now and is really coming together, seems it won't be long until they move on. 😢  You'll know when it happens and I'll need all your support my friends. x

So the prompt of All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go is quite apt don't you think, let's just pretend to be going somewhere posh and exciting eh!

White culottes again! - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my lovely friends.
Hope you are well.
Monday's blog post was a bit of a non-starter!  Apologies for that.  I've been feeling a bit lethargic and lazy of late and I'm afraid the blog has suffered.  I've been doubting my self again and wondering what I'm doing in the big wide world of blogging.  I'm trying to tell myself that I'm doing it for me, and not for gaining followers, likes and nice comments, but we all want to be liked and accepted don't we?  Do you feel like this and how do you cope?
It was a busy weekend with a roast dinner and all the trimmings - I might add it was Turkey that was bought and frozen last Christmas to have at Easter, we decided to bring it out for Sunday and there's plenty of meat left to be eaten so will probably freeze it for another meal.  Good weather, family and a little drink is just what the doctor ordered eh!
It's still warm though, so my transitional pieces are doing a bit of a yo-yoing act - one minute they're on, the next .... yes you know it.  I've bought a couple of new pieces that I can't wait to show you.  They are most suitable for cooler days and I think towards the end of the week that's what we may have.  Do stop by to see them in the next few weeks.
Today I'm sharing another look for my white culottes - catch when I wore them with a cold shoulder top, dressed up for a party & with a rust jumper for fall.

#Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my lovely friends.
How you doing today?
We've had changeable weather again in the UK.  Starting the week off with hot days I've had to pull some more appropriate clothes to wear, but yesterday it turned cooler and i almost needed a cardigan!
Is it too soon to write a Christmas list?  Just asking for a friend - lol
No in all seriousness I've started to write my list and a list of who to buy for.  It's going to be a little different this year, I'll be trying to get lots online alleviating the need to 'go' shopping.  Don't get me  wrong I love search the shops and come home with goodies packed into bags ready to be wrapped but with this virus to contend with I'll probably give it a miss!
So I'll be sharing me list very soon in the hope it will give my family some ideas! 😉 Do join the linkup my friends, what have you been wearing, eating and doing?

My New Skincare Routine with Neal's Yard.

Good morning and how are we all doing today?
I'm okay and settling into September nicely, the return to school for my grand-kids has gone without any major glitches which is a big relief.  My ballet class last Thursday went well and all the proper protocol was followed and we all felt happy & safe.
There were only 5 in the class along with the teacher so we had plenty of room to get the legs and arms working after the long break.  Routines slowly returned to the fading memory and it was nice to be 'normal' for a little while.  We even managed to chat which made it even more like old times.  I'm still not sure about returning to ballroom lessons, there doesn't seem to be much point as I'd be dancing on my own without the help of our teacher or his wife, let's hope things change soon eh?
How are you getting on with returning to your hobbies?

Today I'm out with Esther taking photos, finger crossed the weather stays fine.  Here in the UK each day seems to be different, so deciding what to wear can be a real conundrum can't it!
Today's post is a little different for me, I'm talking about skincare and beauty routines.  Now I'm definitely not a professional and have no previous experience but wanted to share what works for me!

This post is not sponsored or gifted - I paid for all the items myself.

Summer Skirt Styled for Autumn - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
How are you?
I'm excited and nervous to say I'm hopefully in a ballet class as we speak! Yikkes.  I'll keep you informed as to how it goes.  I've had the assessment pack so know exactly what I should be doing and the class has been split into two so's the right amount of bodies are in the room.  My body and mind is ready for it now and I can't wait for this little bit of normality to resume.

With temperature dropping it's been nice to wear season appropriate clothes hasn't it? I've worn jackets on a few occasions as well as long sleeved tops - jumpers are still a bit too warm for me, but today's outfit will be a pleasure to wear when it does turn!

August Review.

Hi there everyone.
Shocking to think it's September already, I'm still back in March preparing to go skiing for the weekend!  So much has gone on since then, but so little seems to have happened!
My daughter and her family are still with us although I don't think it will be for very much longer and I'm dreading the day they pack everything up and move into the new home. 😢

Normality is slowly starting to return here, I've had word that my ballet classes will be starting again, as have the ballroom lessons, but I don't know when I'll be back. Possibly next week to ballet.  The gym is open but with limited classes and numbers so not sure if I'll return yet.  The running is still my only form of physical workout - unless you call helping look after 3 under 6's exercise ha ha!  I've reached 5k now and am trying to build on that with my pace and times - but have to say I'm impressed with how far I've come.  Maybe I'll enter the Race for Life again - when it's not virtual.

Wasn't August a funny month?  We usually have a nice little weekend away to enjoy and many fun family events to attend - alas we couldn't do anything like that so have had fun with BBQ's in our garden for the family, lunch with friends and an evening with our besties. I'm wondering if September will bring us more normality after the schools have returned & more people can get back to work.
So let's get this August Review going.
I started the month with a lovely boho dress in a striking rust shade and imagined wearing it to a festival, it'll get more wear in Autumn when I can chuck on a chunky warm jumper and hide long  boots underneath.

White Culottes for Autumn - #Chiandstylish #LINKUP

Hiya ... 👋👋
How you all doing?
I feel a change is coming in the Mummab household, my grand-kids are back to school and pre-school today and fear it wont be long until my daughter & family are reaping the benefits of family help and settling into their new home.  I won't lie I'm not looking forward to it & will be sad to see my 'big girl' move out for the second time! Saving grace they are literally 5 mins down the road, I'll be getting pay-back for all the time they've spent at mine - lol!

Last month I showed you an impressive pair of white cropped culottes.  Thinking they'd be suitable for wearing in the new season I set about styling them for when the temperatures drop, fortunately the weather was agreeable - so the jumper and boots were a welcomed addition when we took these photos!
Layering is key when weather is so changeable, little tee shirts under a blouse with a jacket or cardigan over the top caters for all temperatures.  I didn't need a cami under this, but come chilly days a nude shade will work a treat.  I've also got in mind a couple of jackets that will keep me warm too!  Monday's aztec number will be a cute little option.

Style not Age - What I would wear on the Frow.

Hello everyone.
Thanks for visiting me today.
Just in time for August's Style not Age challenge.
I'm snatching a few minutes to get on top of my blogging, it's hard to find the time with the house full with grandkids to play with, love and cuddle but I know they won't be here for much longer as their renovation and extension is nearly ready.  I'm so excited for them to have a new place - they have their own bedrooms, a playroom, huge garden and a wonderful living area.  It's so big I'm sure they will all have their own space with no rows or upsets - I think you can work out for yourselves if that will happen or not! Lol
So back to the matter in hand - August edition of Style not Age.
Anna, Hilda, Emma & I have been hard at work preparing for the challenge set by Gail.
Do hope you think we are all ready for the Front Row in our styling for ....

What I would Wear on the Frow.

Another look for my White Culottes - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my lovely friends.
How are you all?
Well didn't Storm Francis cause a few problems!  Debris everywhere including my new gazebo that somersaulted over my 8ft high hedge ending up in the side road next to me 🤯 Just so lucky it didn't hit any people or cars!! My shoot was also disturbed with us having to take photos in the wind and rain!  Esther managed to make the best of a bad job and produced some great shots for the Style not Age challenge that I'm hoping you'll join me for next Monday.
Another blow this week was my fridge freezer packing up - it's not working properly so I've ended up calling out a repair chap who can hopefully fix it!  Most of the frozen food has been wasted, but on the plus side I've wanted to empty it for a while so now it's been done for me.  I'm praying the technician will get it up and running tomorrow or I'll be needing a new one!

Do you remember seeing my new white culottes?  Well I happy to share another version with you today - a version to wear out in the evening.

Styling my Karen Millen Dupes.

Morning all, hope you've had a good weekend.
I've had a super one.  I had a catch up with my best friend on Friday and was surprised when she arrived with a big plate of tomato & mozzarella sprinkled with olive oil, salt & pepper - what a treat!  Chuffed she'd read my blog on Thursday about her tasty homegrown tomatoes. X

Yesterday we had all the family gathered for a big Sunday roast, we cooked leg of lamb with roast potatoes and all manor of vegetables.  My daughter supplied the desserts - mouth watering Biscoff cheesecake and Nutella brownies - yum, yum!  We also made room for cheese and biscuits - I literally couldn't move all evening and vowed to cut down through-out the week - let's see how that pans out - lol!

Styling a Cut-Out Blouse - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my friends.
Thanks for stopping by today.
What are your plans for the weekend?
Nothing much lined up for Mummabstylish this weekend, it's quite daunting to think of nothing happening at the weekend paired with horrible wet weather isn't it!  Bring back the sunshine please 🥺

Before the summer runs out I thought I'd better share this cute little cotton cut-out top with you.  I'd seen another blogger wearing an eye catching beauty and wanted to find my own - alas I couldn't find the right top (it was sold out) and found this pretty white cotton top was a good substitute.

Check Mate!

Morning all!
Wow isn't August flying by!
It's really showing signs of Autumn do you think?  With temperatures dropping considerably I'm wondering if Summer is now over!  It's just as well I didn't end up buying very many new Summery pieces, maybe I will try to concentrate on transitional bits instead.
I'm a big fan of wearing dresses and I recently shared two with you that I bought in the Next sale, remember my patchwork shirt dress and this boho beauty.  This post features the last in a trio of bewitching beauties.

Checkered patterns never really leave the arena do they, they are always mingling in the background and every so often make it to the top of the fashion stakes just like this little stunner.

Block White and Mint Green Duster - #Chicanstylish #LINKUP

Morning all!
What you up to?
I've had a busy few days with a trip to the beach, a cuppa and catch-up with my best friends and a meeting (today) with my lovely friend who's going to run through a few Neal's Yard essentials with me - you can see my favourite pieces on last week's blog when I shared some exquisite smelling hand sanitizer and rose facial oil.

Even though the weather has been scorching lately today I've decided to think ahead to cooler transitional days and wearing layers - you might have seen a snippet of this outfit that was featured in Platinum Magazine
Do you wear white jeans in every season, yes me too and I reckon they work really well on colder days when the weather is dry.  Here's the type of outfit that will work a treat in Autumn.

My Next Maxi is Perfect for Holidays!

Good morning my friends.
How's your week gone?
Have you had hot weather?  We've had beautiful sunny hot days recently, you know the ones with really blue skies and no clouds, so much so I've invested in a fan!  It's been on most nights and almost feels like I've been abroad. Although the room service isn't much to talk about! Ha ha ha.
You may recall I recently bought some dresses from Next online - this rust maxi was one of them!  I wanted some summer dresses as I love wearing them when it's hot as they're so much easier to style and oh-so-comfy to wear.  When I manage to get away for a break I'll be continuing to take one pieces with me for that very reason!  I can just picture myself in this one strolling pretty towns and village boutiques, dining alfresco somewhere hot and exotic!  Oh I can dream can't I!

Neal's Yard Remedies - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there - hope you are well!
What has the week pushed your way?

Last month I was lucky enough to spend a wonderful afternoon with a few lovely friends for a girlfriends birthday.  Even though it was her special day she prepared a lovely selection of sandwiches, cakes and freshly baked homemade scones with CLOTTED CREAM & JAM!!! Yummy. Standard table accessory being cups of tea & glasses of fizz plus a bottle of essential hand sanitizer.  We all used the bottle at one stage or another throughout the afternoon but another friend whipped out a cute little spray bottle that smelt out of this world!  I asked what it was and she told me all about the product from Neal's Yard that contained lemon grass & witch hazel - it smelt heavenly.  I fell for it and immediately bought some for myself to spray and sniff whenever I needed or felt like it!

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

How cute is this dress I donned for the gathering? Do Stop by on Monday to see all the details about this maxi dress. It's one of the three I bought from Next last month - got to be a winner for my Summer/Autumn collection.  Read about another Next shirt dress I wore for the Style not Age Challenge last month.

July Review.

Morning my lovely friends.
How's was your weekend?

Can you believe it's August and we've still got the 'C' word hanging over us - like a big ugly headache that won't go away.  I'm keeping myself to myself and haven't ventured into any bars or restaurants - I don't want the hassle that might go with it. I don't want a two week lock-down as a result.  I know some places are and some aren't taking details, but it'd be just my luck to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.  I've shopped in town a couple of times, but honestly felt quite anxious when I did so won't be doing that too often.  Are you going out yet or happy to stay safe indoors?
One thing I am happy, really happy about.  I was lucky enough to be featured in Platinum Magazine.  I'm so impressed with the features and there's so much to read - hope you'll pick up a copy.

Looking Hot in Hotter Shoes! - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my lovely friends.
What's going on in your neck of the woods?
We're still having changeable weather here in the UK, it's so annoying having to dress differently each day - sometimes the same day when the weather suddenly decides to switch temperatures!

We celebrated my youngest daughter's birthday on Tuesday, having afternoon tea in the garden which was prepared by my other daughters (I made some half decent cupcakes along with a birthday cake which went down well). We also had take-out pizzas delivered that evening and had a fun night with the family sharing stories and having a few laughs & drinks along the way.

Style not Age - My Signature Colour

Morning my friends.
How are you all doing?
Another month has rolled by - days and weeks seem to melt into one mundane blur don't they! Well some of the time anyway.  Although it does mean it's time for me and the girls of Style not Age group to get together again - this month our challenge has been set by Hilda.  She's had our best interest at heart and went with the open title of ....
My Signature Colour.
Well now what's my signature shade ...hmmm let's see.  I've been deliberating this since Hilda sent over the email. I love wearing all sorts of colours and there aren't many I don't call upon. So I came to the conclusion I don't really have a signature colour! I adore wearing any tone of blue and I like to wear red, I also enjoy wearing pink as that is my favourite colour but I wouldn't say any were MY signature, therefore I picked a dress with both blue and pink in it.

Stone Culottes & Sunflowers - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hello there my friends.
How are you all?
I've had a good week so far with two runs under my belt nearing my 5k target each time.  Mind you I'm a picture when I've finished!  I'd love to be one of those ladies who run their circuit and don't break out in a bead of sweat!  Me - I look like I've run through torrential rain and need a shower and hair wash when I'm finished, but to be fair it's good I run first thing then come home, shower and change into more stylish attire.  Anyone else have that problem or can you stay in gym gear for the remained of the day?
I had my hair trimmed last week and it's now settled into a happy, less stressed style - my hair seems to get 'scared' whenever I have it trimmed it doesn't lay right and I never like the way my stylish blow-dries it either. 😟 I like to style it 'my' way and put a little 'oomph' into it - do you have that issue?

One thing I don't have an issue with is wearing culottes.  Today I'm sharing another pair from Bonmarche and like last week's animal design these stone version are really going to work hard in my wardrobe throughout the Summer and into Autumn too!

White Jeans.

Morning my friends.
How are you doing today?
What a changeable weekend it's been, scorching hot on Saturday and totally the opposite on Sunday with cold, very wet and dreary weather - guess which day we decided to have the BBQ on?  Yep you're right, on Sunday!  We sat under the gazebo whilst hubby and son cooked under the parasol, bloody annoying when we'd finished cooking and eating it cleared up making way for clearer skies!

Well after the last few days I'm almost feeling like a new woman, hair cut on Thursday, a much needed visit to the salon on Friday followed by a manicure and pedicure at the weekend - freshly painted nails in a bright cerise pink has made me very happy. 💕 This might give you a big clue as to what colour I might just wear for next weeks Style not Age post ... My Signature Colour! Lol.

I've been seeing many of you wearing white jeans recently, so with the mixture of temperature we've been having in the UK I decided to wear mine.  I've got a few pairs to my name and of recent years have taken to wearing them in the winter on dry - cooler days when they can look really stylish paired with all white, tan or black - the list is endless!  With temperatures dipping last week I took full advantage & wore my white straight legs with this striking blouse I pinched from my daughter. 😀.

Don't forget to enter the GIVEAWAY that went live last Thursday - there's a pretty polka dot dress up for grabs!!!

Bonmarche GIVEAWAY - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my friends.
How are you all today?
I'm feeling chilly today, seems mother nature has insisted on making this Coronavirus situation as difficult as possible - I mean who want's to sit outside when it's freezing cold?  I need to invest in a Firepit I think. 😄
Last month I featured this gorgeous dress from Bonmarche - I ended up with two dresses, so have decided to share one with you my lovely friends. Do join the GIVEAWAY below for your chance to win this lightweight linen beauty.  It's a size 12 tunic style dress with plenty of room so probably would fit a size 14 - both UK sizes or maybe you could gift it to a friend!

Fiji Wedges - The Perfect Summer Sandal from Hotter.

Morning my lovely friends.
How are you all?
Have you ventured out into any pubs or restaurants yet?  I haven't.  I've been shopping in our local town, early in the morning to miss the crowds and not at the weekend - there's way too many people about and if I don't need to be there I'm better off avoiding it.
Saturday evening we got together with two other couples and had a lovely 'socially distanced' evening with them.  Enjoying home cooked pizza, nibbles and a few beverages it almost felt 'normal'.  Nice to spend an evening with friends and we worked out that we'd not been together since the end of February, we're hoping to do the same in a few weeks time - have you manged to see friends-at-a-distance too?
David and I celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary yesterday, we were at home with the family and didn't venture to our usual anniversary venue.  Reads is my FAVOURITE restaurant, and you can read about my evening there last year here when I wore a dress that I'd worn ten years earlier!  Just reading the post makes me want to go dine there even more, I'm longing for the day when it will be safe to visit. I can't wait for this silly virus to 'jog on and do one'.  We had a roast dinner in the garden on my new garden furniture, I've been wanting some rattan furniture for ages and am finally proud to say I own a super corner sofa set and a table and chairs for 8 people - it's the little things in life that make me happy! 😁

Last Thursday you may have seen me wearing these gorgeous sandals from Hotter Shoes.  I mentioned I'd share all the details about these heavenly wedges, so here's everything you need to know to bag your own - they're like walking on cushions of air! ☁️

Black & White Bonmarche with a Red Top - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my lovely friends.
How you doing?
Our windy weather has made way for rain - it's been a very grey here with only a glimpse of sunshine today!  I've been in charge of the grand-kids over the past couple of days as Mummy & Daddy have been busy building their new home.  It's been such a fun time and I know I'll look back on our times together with love and affection once the house is finished and lock-down is over.  I wonder what they will remember when they are older? 🤔  My princess is back at school & my prince is at pre-school, one loves it the other doesn't - they are like chalk and cheese.  I definitely think getting kids back to normality and school is better for their mind-set & don't we all need a bit of normality!

My new dresses from Next have arrived - although I've not had a chance to try them on yet!  I like to set aside a little time so I can try on, mix with shoes, jewellery and jackets, you know work out a few looks for the future, I can't wait for that to happen.
What have you been wearing lately?  Still wearing your comfy casuals or are you dressing to impress - even if it's only the cashier - lol.  I trying not to wear my denim too much & my newly acquired culottes from Bonmarche are doing a good job.  I'm smitten with these wide leg crops having grabbed them plenty of times lately as they are so comfortable. In fact I'm wearing them now!

June Review.

Morning all.
How you all been?
Hasn't it been windy in the UK!  My new gazebo looked like it might end up in my neighbours garden on many a big gust!  I'm wishing for better weather soon and hope some warm sunny - no-wind days are on the agenda.
Did June fly by for you too! I not sure why because I've not done anything - I feel like I'm just existing now, wishing the days to go by, longing for weekends & dreaming of past holidays, and hoping for more in the future. With the highlight of every day what I'm going to eat!

June started with a borrowed dress, really pleased I could squeeze into my daughters giraffe dress that looked fabulous with my statement necklace and snakeprint court shoes.

JJ's House, Pleats & Lace - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my friends.
What's keeping you sane?
I'm getting my zest back for blogging, my enthusiasm always ebbs when I don't have any photos to use, but having met up with my god-daughter for a socially distanced shoot recently I've an abundance of photos to share with you and my juices are flowing.
Back in June my son was due to get married, but with the current situation this bloody Coronavirus had other plans so the wedding has been postponed - fingers crossed it will go ahead!  I've now to find a suitable dress for the in-between season of October.

Are you familiar with JJ's House  I've shared a couple of collaborations with them in the past which you can see here - in a bright pink two piece and here - sharing this elegant velvet dress.
