How are you all?
Been a strange couple of weeks since Christmas, it's always an odd time of the year without having a lock-down on ours hands! I hate this time of the year and usually have a skiing holiday to look forward to, alas this year our plans are in the hands of Covid. So I've something up my sleeve to pass the time and get excited about - my new dressing room.
Since blogging I've seen many a stunning room full of clothes, shoes, bags and jewellery and have a big one planned for our new build. I don't know when that will happen so decided once my daughter and her family moved out to turn the spare room into my own little space and fill it with my outfits.
I started by clearing the room and taking up the carpet, this made way for re-painting the walls and woodwork - nice clean and bright white. It's not in the best condition, but hubby filled the holes and sanded down the wood work revealing a fair space to work with.
Once finished it was ready for the new carpet to be fitted, I went for a nice silvery grey - it's a fashionable colour and looks very stylish. I matched curtains made of faux velvet and satin - they went up on the pole that I re-used and look really fancy.
You may remember I'd been after some Ikea wardrobes and units, but they were out of stock for ages, eventually they became available so I bought them before anyone else could! These arrived just before Christmas and fortunately hubby and son managed to get them up before we were hit by Christmas & Coronavirus.
Pride of place for this is cut glass pot, it belonged to my mum-in-law and used to be full of mints, I'm thinking of trinkets, hair clips or earrings or perhaps I'll put mints in there too!
I've been dying to get them filled up and there's still a few bits to finish, but I've been setting things out over the past couple of days re-arranging things every so often but am getting there. I'm excited to share the (nearly) finished room with you now, although I'm sure I'll still be changing things around for while yet!
What do you think of my new Christmas present? I spotted this Vintage Clothes Stand on Amazon and just had to have it - dropping lots of BIG hints which where thankfully were heard! ✓
Another fabulous addition is my new light - a pre-loved addition that is a real statement piece and will be a super back-drop for my photos. It's a modern copy of a boat searchlight, complete with shutter slats - these change the mode and dim the light perfectly. Let's pray taking my own shots will be hassle free.
I've been living in jeans and lounge suits recently so it was nice to slip into something dressy. The blouse I'm wearing is from a selection at The Bias Cut, in fact I was lucky enough to win a giveaway and picked this classic snake print shirt complete with delicate ruffles, long sleeves and dainty black buttons. Ultra feminine with palazzo pants and brocade boots. I also won an interesting book ... I Am Beauty by Riku Campo, it's all about skincare and beauty and has come at just the right time as I seriously started to think about my skin care routine recently, this book will be really useful! 😉
After receiving some wonderful feedback when I shared my pattern mix outfit, I plan to try out more clashing in the coming months - is there anything else you'd like to see?
