Pleats, Reels and Running - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my friends.
How have you been?
I've been thoroughly enjoying my dressing room recently.  It's proved invaluable, I'm so pleased I did it!  Along with the Roman Originals jacket and jumper my kids got me for Christmas they also bought me a ring light on a tripod.  It's been a marvellous addition - I've even managed a couple of Reels on Instagram - did you see them?  They are quite hard to master & a learning curve, but I've had fun doing them.  I'm trying to post more often too - which has been helpful to my figures, I'm happy to have reached over 2k followers!!!  You can catch some different daily styles on there, so do pop over to join me if you have a spare couple of minutes. X
It's all becoming a bit "groundhog day" isn't it.  How are you filling your days?  I can't wait for the better weather to come so I can get in the garden and start the annual hedge cutting and general tidy up.
Plenty of walks happening, I'm lucky enough to have woodland walks 10 mins away as well as the beach the same in the other direction, so my wellies have been working hard, & I still haven't got any new ones.  Mine must be nearly 30 years old and a bit tight!!

I've also started running again.  Having not done any exercise since last Summer I'm taking it easy and using a 'Couch to 5 K' app on my phone - I've done two sessions so far, surprisingly seems it okay.  I'm usually quite an active person, but the Covid lock-down has knocked my positivity making it so much harder to get started - with so much choice I just don't know where to start!  I know I can run, but just need to get my fitness back up and let the rest fall in place.  I very much need motivation as I like being in a class with other people, there lies the problem.  Small steps will be the help I need, once running is going well, I might do online classes and maybe the gym will open in the not-too-distant-future. ✌

Another thing I've been enjoying recently .... pleated skirts!

This skirt came home with me from Abu Dhabi a few years ago, I bought it in H & M in the Mall there - wow what a shopping experience that was. I vow to one day return.  It's a timeless classic and gets my vote for a perfect all rounder.  I worn it with jumpers, tops, jackets, trainers, shoes and boots.  This flattering skirt conforms in Summer and is equally as helpful in all the other seasons - so much potential!  See when I wore it with ivory boots and a sparkly high neck.
Love the casual look today which I've re-mixed with baseball trainers and long line blazer, my pleated eye catcher is ticking all my boxes.
Today's relaxed look is worn with burgundy jumper and my charming Ted Baker bag - really what's not to love?

  4. Oh wow, good for your for getting out and running, Jacqui! I'm well impressed lol. I just do 20 mins of yoga most mornings and then a 20 minute walk with the dog. The other day I pushed a wheelbarrow full of firewood about twenty metres (up a slope) and I think I pulled a muscle in the back of my legs LOL! Clearly, I could do with increasing my exercise levels lol!
You look fabulous, by the way. Love the bag!

  6. Such a fun outfit, Jacqui! And I love how much you are enjoying your new dressing room! I totally relate to the groundhog's day feeling. I have been feeling that way since maybe April! And now it is so cold and snowy here, making it even worse because I don't even go outside. I really hope this all comes to an end soon...for all of us! Right now yoga is working for me. Maybe once the weather warms, some outdoor yoga might be fun! Hang in there, my friend, you are not alone!

  13. I am so glad you are enjoying your dressing room. I have started changing out my hangers using the excuse that my son needed some (which is true) and loving the more uniform look. Also changed where I have my scarf: maybe I will wear them more. I didn't realize your house was so close to the water too. What a great location. I am still walking with my 2 friends (one I hadn't seen in a month since she got covid on the 1st and we walked for the first time last night since then) but I want to start hiking soon when the weekends warm up a little.

  16. It does feel a bit like groundhog day! Lol! I agree, I think once we get into the Spring it'll be a breath of fresh air and gardening always makes me happy. I have been getting into running since Covid again (I've always been a runner, but now I'm more dedicated to it again) and it really does help my mind and it is great for getting up and moving when there is so little to do! I love this pleated skirt, it is so cheerful and it looks great with that burgundy top with the tie. So perfect with the sneaks, too!!

  18. Love your outfit, especially that darling round bag! I bet you are really enjoying your new wardrobe room during the colder months. I usually enjoy walking outdoors, too, but the weather is beastly right now! I still walk for my health, but can't wait until spring makes it much more enjoyable! Thanks for the link up, and have a nice weekend.

  21. I've also been giving running a thought...it's just that this freezing weather here makes it so hard to stick to that kind of commitment (or every excuse for me is a good one lol!). You look amazing as usual xx

  22. Hi Jacqui!
I will have to check out your Reels! I havent been adventurous enough to do that yet! Love the colors in the skirt and the bow blouse. That bag is so pretty too, love the tortoise handle. Good for you for running again, don't overdo! I have the habit of doing that when starting a program again, I use my home treadmill and home gym right now and look forward to swimming when Covid is over.
