Sorry for being a bit late today, I seem to have lost a day and though it was Wednesday! How the hell did I miss a day?
Been in the dressing room having another look at my clothes combinations recently. Came up with some beautiful combinations and can't wait to share them with you. I also finally found and purchased some tan wide leg trousers! So I bought two pairs! Well one in short the other in regular. I might keep both to wear with different heel heights, thought that seemed a great idea & they were a good price so will have to see.
Whilst sorting through my clothes I came upon this combination - a blouse with a vest over my pleated skirt. Isn't it nice when you put something on and see how fine it is when you look at the photos! That's just what happened to me. Having seen so many wearing these knitted vest's I realised I had one in my collection already, I can't tell you how many times it's yo-yo'd from wardrobe to charity pile, but for the time being it's going to stay. I also managed to track down this one from Zara on Ebay - so excited to wear it and as always layers are going to be your friend in the transition period and cooler days in Summer.
Before we head to the #Linkup let me share this super stylish outfit with you. x
What are your thoughts on the #Spencer vest?
Now you know how much I like a pleated skirt, they're just so feminine and always look elegant and stylish however they're worn. You can add heels, boots or flat trainers and they still look amazing. They also don't date, so if you every add one to your collection, guaranteed you'll get plenty of wear from them. Mine is from Tu clothing and the pretty patchwork pattern has so many options - you might have seen it paired with mustard yellow on IG recently. Topped with a plain white blouse tucked it in looks super sweet like that, but I wanted to wow and keep warm so reached for this vest to see how it would look. This I wore with a belt to cinch in a little, then bagged over the top - better to try and give some definition to a rounded tummy - lol.
Hey presto! Don't you think it finishes off my dainty look perfectly?
I picked the vest up in Matalan some years ago, I've worn it a handful of times, but never felt it looked right, fast forward to looking at IG last week and found a delightful lady wearing said '#spencer' vest. Puzzled with the word Spencer I looked it up, it's a Lady Diana style copy - {never knew that} and it's great to keep warm and look good. Needless to say I can't find the lady know - urgh hate it when that happens!
I managed to find the exact vest she has been styling though - so I'm looking forward to getting more use from both these vests in the coming months - weather obliging obviously!!!
To complete the outfit I donned my tan lotus boots that have a great heel height for everyday wear. They are a super length too, fitting just over half way up my calf. Good to wear with a long skirt like mine.
Finishing touch a string of beads, nice shiny shaped beads hung twice round my neck. I'm loving this look and will be sure to try it again!

Yep me too, looking forward to styling my new one. x
DeleteOh my gosh, once you explained the Spencer vest, I immediately recalled how Lady Diana used to wear sweater vests like this. She was such a style icon! I really like this outfit. The pleated skirt is so pretty and the layered vest adds such a cool vibe to it. I think I have a few vests like this in my resale bin because I never quite figured out how to style them properly. But I may have to try again and belt it the way you did. I think may solve my styling issue!

Yes I didn't know, I wonder if it's true! Someone said it might be referring to Michael Crawford (Frank Spencer - 1970's TV show) so not sure about it. Thanks for leaving such lovely comments, I'll look forward to seeing yours. Jacqui x
DeleteI think the belt is a great addition and you look so put together! Thanks for the link up! BTW, all day yesterday I thought it was Thursday - we must all be losing our minds!!!
