February Review - Happy Blog birthday. 5 Years!

Morning my friends.
All good here.
I can't believe this is my 5th blog anniversary!  Five years of blogging!
I'm sharing a post about my last few years in the land of blogging on Thursday and there's a Giveaway to enter which I'll also share on IG - be sure to stop by and join (UK bloggers only I'm afraid).

Like last week's late post I've also neglected to arrange the February Review!  I got caught up with family, the house and the garden I completely forgot about it - opps!
So I'm sharing it today - only a week late. Lol
February Review.

It's a bitter-sweet week for me, today I'm having to say a very sad goodbye to my darling little dog Roxy, she's just short of 16 human years which makes her a really old lady in dog years & I'm heartbroken.  I'd like to dedicate a post to her in the next couple of weeks, maybe you'd like to read about my sweet little girl. X
The sweet side of my story is the fact my new little grandchild will be making an appearance, well that's if baby decides to arrive today!  I have the great pleasure of looking after big brother and it will make the day so much happier to have him to look after him overnight and take my mind of my darling little dog. 💗  Life has a funny way of doing things like this doesn't it!  I'll keep you posted how things go.

💗  Life has a funny way of doing things like this doesn't it!

Even though it's felt like groundhog day for an age my month of February's outfit were all quite different.
I started off with the ever popular Breton strip.  I paired it with black jeans for a casual look, then added a patterned scarf to create something with more interest.  There's something about mixing stripes with patterns that just looks cool and creative.

You can read all about my extra Christmas Present.  Hubby bought me these on our second Christmas Day meal - do check out the post as to why we had two meals my friends. X

Next I decided to bit the bullet and style a new Spring dress.  I love wearing dresses as you might well know, and this pretty floral will be a fabulous addition for when the weather finally improves and we can go out bare legged (subject to self tan or sunshine of course - ha ha). I wore trainers with it last week but I know how super it will look with flat sandals or heels.  My jean jacket was the perfect cover-up, I've had SO much use from this one & have had it years.  Maybe time to search for another??

Faux leather was the prompt for February's Style not Age challenge.  You can see all the fantastic looks of my Four Friends Here.  I styled some chocolate culottes, I like the softer shade of brown which is a great alternative to black - they've worked really well with quite a few tops I already own, including a baby blue knitted top - there's so much potential.  These little beauties will get plenty of wear throughout the next season - I hope you don't get bored of them!

My final post in February featured a vest top.  Otherwise know as a tank top or (new to me) a Spencer.  I heard it's been called this for two possible reasons - the first named after Lady Di, she would often wear this style and looked so elegant and classy when she did.  Quite the opposite was the accident-prone Frank Spencer who's outfit included his trademark trench coat and Fairisle tank top!  Only people of a certain age will remember him from Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em.
I'd seen a lady on IG wearing the classic style over a few dresses, I checked where it was from and set about finding my own, in the meantime I realised I already had one.  My navy number has been around for a few years and has been in and out of the charity pile more times than I can remember.  For now it's taken it's place back in the wardrobe and is making a stand in the fashion stakes.  What are your thoughts of this cute little addition?  Early in March I wore my other new Ebay find - see what you think about this one too! 😀

Thank you all so much for joining me today, I think it will be a very strange week for me, I will be back on Thursday so see you then my friends.
Bye for today. X

  1. Oh Jacqui, I'm so very sorry about Roxy, you must be heartbroken. But it sounds like she had a good, long life, bless her. We also had a Roxy who passed away peacefully in her sleep a couple of years ago. It was such a shock.
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful month, I'm sure it'll be amazing welcoming a new baby to the family!
    Big hugs

  4. Jacqui, I am so sorry to hear about Roxy. Sending you lots of virtual hugs. But life does have a funny way, doesn't it? How exciting that you have a new grand baby arriving! I found out I was pregnant with my first child the day after our beloved cat passed away. It was one of those perfect timing things and a blessing from the universe. A big huge Happy Blog Birthday to you as well!
