Style not Age .... Inspiration from the Sky & Sea,

Hello my lovely friends.
Welcome to the blog on this gorgeous Bank Holiday Monday.

I'm shocked that it will be June tomorrow, time seems to be flying by and that's even with hardly any socializing and holidaying to fill my days!!
By contrast the weekend has been lovely and I've been having fun going out for a couple of special events.  Friday I went swimming with my daughter and her kids, she'd hired a private pool for an hour and it was lovely to see the kids having fun and gaining confidence in the water - by the end of the session the two older kids were getting about quite well, my grandson prefers to be under the water rather than on it!  The youngest who's 2 was jumping in to me - which he loved and I looked a pretty picture too. (There I was thinking I wouldn't get my hair wet) Ha!
Friday evening the second session learning the waltz, I mastered the fairly easy routine and loved whirling around on my own in my floaty dress. X

Saturday a 30th BBQ and fortunately the weather played ball and was quite warm, yes that strange yellow object in the sky even made an appearance!!! Breaking news "the sun came out".
Typically burgers and sausages were served with salads, potato salad, coleslaw and various other delicious meats.  I took some king prawns that I marinated in chillies & garlic, they were on skewers and cooked in seconds on the BBQ.   Another stunning cake from my daughter Little Berry Bakes - The Batman themed drip cake looked very deceiving as it was decorated in black and yellow with rocky road on the top, what a surprise to find it was delicately flavoured with lemon!

Sunday we met up with friends in a local pub, roast lunch was amazing.  It felt wonderful to actually hug friends and sit enjoying their company - here's to many more.  I had roast beef with trimmings, so nice to have a roast I haven't had to cooked!  Finished off the fabulous meal with gypsy tart and a few glasses of Prosecco, I was completely stuffed. 💓
And just like that it's Monday - do love a long weekend though, wish we could have one every week!
Not sure what the plans are today, but it will probably involve the sofa, relaxing and a takeaway.

Back to the blog title.  My four blogger friends and I tackle a new challenge each month and Hilda from the Style Not Age collective came up with the fab prompt of ....

Inspiration from the Sky and Sea.

With so much scope I figured this wouldn't be too much of a big issue, and to be fair I came up with the outfit a while ago.  I tweaked the skirt as the tulle option just didn't look right and I've been itching to wear the Zara blouse for ages - but I waited as I knew it would be spot on for the challenge.

At Home with Anna - Anna's Island Style - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning everyone.
Thanks for stopping by.

How's things going for you?
A better day weather wise for me today, no rain!!! Yep how good is that.  I went to town and didn't get wet today, unlike my visit on Monday.
I came home to cut the grass.  I can confirm it's worn me out!  We have a huge front garden and back, I only did the front and the side verge - all this rain and a little sunshine makes everything grow!!

I stopped by Matalan on Tuesday to look for a pair of mules, didn't have the ones I wanted so will have to order them online, I did find a super pair of flat mules - you may have seen them on my Instagram Stories, but if not they'll be on here soon I'm sure.  I also found a really pretty necklace in the sale, just had to buy it as it's so sparkly - I do love to wear a bit of bling!

So enough about me, shall we see who's in the spotlight for my new monthly series ...
At Home With ....

She's a blogging queen who I love and adore & I'm sure you admire her too.  Her unique style is something to behold and I love to see what she creates every week - sometimes summoning up the courage to copy her looks!

... she's told me before sometimes she just throws clothes on the bed together and see what jumps out at her - I've tried this on a number of occasions and once or twice have come up with interesting looks, so I know it works I just don't always have the guts to do it! Lol

Tunic Top with Leather Look Jeans & Blazer.

Morning all!
Good to have you here, appreciate you taking time out of your day to spend with me!
Been a lovely weekend for me.  I have seen all the family including my mum who popped in for a cuppa and piece of my birthday cake.  It's been so nice to enjoy some special time with them all, with a few cuddles to savour.
Friday I went ballroom dancing.  It was the first session back since the beginning of lock-down and even though I danced alone and couldn't be partnered it was brilliant.  It was so nice to twist and turn and feel carefree for a change.  We followed all the rules and I felt totally safe learning a little waltz routine.  We have 3/4's of an hour learning the steps and a further 15 minutes practicing them.
Saturday I took my grandaughter shopping, we only went into a couple of shops - namely Primark, H&M and Marks & Spencer.  She came home with five dresses - the style she likes to wear are sleeveless summer dresses with patterns on - even in Winter ... lol.  My little beauty will look perfect in is this one from H&M.  How sweet is this with cute rabbits on it?
Saturday night if you saw my IG stories I went to my daughter's.  Her hubby cooked us a typical dish from The Alps and it's the nearest I'm getting to being away skiing this year, how sad is that! 😞  We watched the Eurovision Song Contest - bloody annoyed that we got the usual nil points - seriously why do we bother to enter - not sure if voting is tactical or not because I think James Newman's song was brilliant & very catchy - do let me know if you like it my friends. x
Sunday was a family day too.  Got to see my grandson and grand-daughter with mummy and daddy, they popped by to see us all so my other daughters also joined us too - nice to have nearly all the family together.  No roast to worry about either so a takeaway curry was the order of the day - delicious as always.
How did your weekend go?

Pleats & Flats with a Denim Jacket - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my lovely friends.
How are you all doing?
Things have calmed down a little after my run of birthdays and I've been enjoying musing over my  birthday presents with a little peace.
With the rain taking center stage over the past weeks all I've wanted to wear is jeans and boots. I long for the weather to improve so I can wear some of my summer outfits and sandals.  I got some cute cream jeans and a pretty white blouse for my birthday along with a really welcomed white jean jacket (I've been wanting one for ages) - this will be one of the first outfits I put on when the sun decides to make an appearance for longer than an hour or so! Ha ha!

Last year I was due to go to Budapest to see the Hungarian F1 race.  Yep you know the answer to that one, so we've managed to extend our deposit and are trying to book for the latest possible date next year.  I've mixed feelings about the whole thing - part of me is really excited to think we might be able to get away next year or maybe this one, but on the other hand I'm half expecting everything to be back in lock-down!!  I do hope this is just me worrying.  Have you booked to go abroad yet?

Let me tell you about today's OOTD.  I took advantage of better temperatures the other week and wore this skirt and jacket combo.

Hope you are all safe and well.
Been a crazy birthday weekend for me, well actually It's been a crazy week really.
I had a wonderful day on Saturday and felt truly loved and cherished by everyone.  I had some amazing presents and as always was very spoiled.  Did you see my IG stories?  I had a wonderful dinner from a local restaurant ... Wheelers Oyster Bar that certainly didn't disappoint.  We had a big selection, including Lobster Lasagna, Prawn and Crab tart, Scallops, Crab cakes, Mezze and other delicious fish dishes. This was topped off with a big cake made fresh by Little Berry Bakes - that was stunning too!

If you've seen my Instagram post's recently you may have clocked that I won a Giveway.  I was delighted to win a stylish lounge suit from the super collection of workout & lounge wear.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

At home with .....Nancy - Nancy's Fashion Style - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning all.
Hope you are all okay.

I'm sharing another fabulous blogger with you today.  You can find out more about Nancy - Nancy's Fashion Style further down.  She's an exciting blogger from Netherlands and blogs about her passion for fashion & style.  It's always nice to hear more about our blogging friends so hope you'll enjoy her post.

First I'll tell you a little about my week.  I'm getting really excited at the opening of my gym classes next week along with my dance lessons later on in May.  I've still be doing the couch to 5K app and have been working my way through the runs, re-visiting some if I've had a few days off.  I feel much better for going, but it's hard work and I'm not particularly fast! However I keep telling myself I'm over-taking the people still on the sofa (sorry if that's you)!
I've been looking for a new suite this week, mine is looking very sad and in need of being replaced.  I've seen a few that I like, but will need to take hubby and hope we can come to some sort of agreement.  We usually have very similar opinions, but will have to see if he likes any of my choices!

It's my birthday on Saturday and like last year I've chosen to have my local favourite Wheelers Oyster Bar supply the dinner - the menu sounds amazing if you'd like to take a look at this renowned fish restaurant, it will make your mouth water for sure.  It'll be a busy weekend with two birthday's to follow mine so there'll be plenty of fizz & cake consumed I fear hope. 😜

Well enough about my birthday let's get involved with finding out about Nancy. X

Neutral Tan with Pop's of Pink.

Hello my friends.
What you doing today?
I'm counting down to the run of three birthdays starting with mine on the 15th.  My gran-daughters is the following day and I remember when she was born so clearly.  I'd made a mild hot curry for my birthday meal which my daughter had, bye the next evening she had mild back-ache which the midwife said was nothing!  Some two or so hours later my little princess arrived, at home in the bedroom - how many people can say they were born at home eh!  As you can imagine she has a list of presents she'd like, one in particular (we're not sure where she got it from) a 'ginger cat' - according to mum and dad she's definitely not getting that one!

With the weather still so changeable (one day last week we had sun, rain, hail, wind, thunder & lightning) my outfits can't really be confined to one style.  Jeans, have been my 'go to' style, with jumpers and boots, but I've also been sporting wide legs trousers and a nice dress here and there.
I've not worn these culottes this year which is such a shame because they are the perfect Spring piece.  I wore them plenty last year including paired with navy, looking floral with sunflowers and matched with my biscuit trench coat.

Do You Wear Shacket's - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning all.
Hope you are well.
Another month of birthdays for Mummabstylish with mine, grand-daughters, sons and son-in-law quite close together so another expensive month for me!
The weather is still playing havoc with my daily outfits, falling back on my jeans, boots and jumpers and I can't wait to wear some pretty 'Spring' dresses soon - I've bought two new ones this week and can't wait to share them with you.  I also had a browse in H & M and Zara yesterday - just love all the styles going on, but they do seem to be very similar to lots of bits I already have in my collection!  I was walking around thinking 'I've got similar to that' and 'this will look great with those in my wardrobe'!!  Anyone else think the same?

I want to ask you a question.
Do you like Shackets?
They are the cross between a shirt and a jacket.  I've been seeing them for ages but didn't think they were really me.  You see I've been having dilemma's!  Is my style a little too classic?  Should I try to entertain more fashion into my looks?  I decided to give it a go ...  let me know what you think of my turn-around on the shacket style.

April Review.

Good morning my friends.
Happy Bank Holiday May Day to you.
How are you all?
Can't quite believe we are actually in May 2021 - crazy eh!
April was a busy month for me, with 5 immediate family birthdays to celebrate.  It was also full of anticipation for another easing of lock-down - come May 17th (with fingers crossed we'll be able to go into a restaurant & pub to eat and drink - hurrah!!!)
Haven't done much over the weekend, quiet Saturday and roast dinner yesterday and who knows what today will bring.  If the weather is nice we may go out to eat, but will play that one by ear - who wants to sit and eat outside in the cold?

As it's the beginning of May I'd like to share what I got up to in April, do scroll down for all the outfits I wore.

Starting with this stylish look.  Faux leather culottes in soft brown.  It's a versatile look and I like how easy and relaxed it feels on.  Comfortable & dressy.
