Hello my lovely friends.
Welcome to the blog on this gorgeous Bank Holiday Monday.
I'm shocked that it will be June tomorrow, time seems to be flying by and that's even with hardly any socializing and holidaying to fill my days!!
By contrast the weekend has been lovely and I've been having fun going out for a couple of special events. Friday I went swimming with my daughter and her kids, she'd hired a private pool for an hour and it was lovely to see the kids having fun and gaining confidence in the water - by the end of the session the two older kids were getting about quite well, my grandson prefers to be under the water rather than on it! The youngest who's 2 was jumping in to me - which he loved and I looked a pretty picture too. (There I was thinking I wouldn't get my hair wet) Ha!
Friday evening the second session learning the waltz, I mastered the fairly easy routine and loved whirling around on my own in my floaty dress. X
Saturday a 30th BBQ and fortunately the weather played ball and was quite warm, yes that strange yellow object in the sky even made an appearance!!! Breaking news "the sun came out".
Typically burgers and sausages were served with salads, potato salad, coleslaw and various other delicious meats. I took some king prawns that I marinated in chillies & garlic, they were on skewers and cooked in seconds on the BBQ. Another stunning cake from my daughter Little Berry Bakes - The Batman themed drip cake looked very deceiving as it was decorated in black and yellow with rocky road on the top, what a surprise to find it was delicately flavoured with lemon!
Sunday we met up with friends in a local pub, roast lunch was amazing. It felt wonderful to actually hug friends and sit enjoying their company - here's to many more. I had roast beef with trimmings, so nice to have a roast I haven't had to cooked! Finished off the fabulous meal with gypsy tart and a few glasses of Prosecco, I was completely stuffed. 💓
And just like that it's Monday - do love a long weekend though, wish we could have one every week!
Not sure what the plans are today, but it will probably involve the sofa, relaxing and a takeaway.
Back to the blog title. My four blogger friends and I tackle a new challenge each month and Hilda from the Style Not Age collective came up with the fab prompt of ....
With so much scope I figured this wouldn't be too much of a big issue, and to be fair I came up with the outfit a while ago. I tweaked the skirt as the tulle option just didn't look right and I've been itching to wear the Zara blouse for ages - but I waited as I knew it would be spot on for the challenge.
With skies mostly grey over recent weeks, I fancied wearing something happier, brighter like pale blue and white. So I picked shades of blue to complete the look. I'd probably feel more at home in jeans and the layered tops - white jeans would be my first choice really, the pale shades remind me of blue skies with billowing white fluffy clouds.
I teamed a light denim shirt over the top, leaving to hang open. If I get too hot I can take a layer off and it still looks okay.
I've been liking trainers with dresses recently, so decided to try with a fitted skirt, wished I'd worn sandals now as I feel the look is a bit dumpy - will have to remember that next time.

The white trainers were a giveaway win which I'm delighted with. Comfort box gets a big tick as does the fashionable box too - have a look at the other colours the Hotter Switch comes in, Oh and they're available in half sizes which gets a big thumbs up from me. 👍

Hilda set today's challenge so let's see how her take turned out. She's picked a stunning sky blue kimono with sunny yellow and orange flowers spread across it. You surely have been inspired by the sky Hilda and will maybe entice the sun to stay a little longer!

Want to see more? Here's how Anna's outfit evolved. The aqua jeans resemble the sea where Anna lives and the pale blue and white shirt reflects the sky, it's a brilliant outfit to stroll the beautiful beach on Tresco too. You can read all the backstory over on the blog Anna's Island Style.
Emma's up next, she's wearing a vintage dress that replicates light on the water for Emma's dress, and what a beauty it is. Here's a link to find out all about her look - Style Splash.
Finally let's take a look at Gail - Is This Mutton. Her inspiration from the sky and sea are the shades of green and blue with the brilliant addition of sequined bag (why didn't I think of sequins?) 🤔
Thank you all so much for joining me today, I'm so happy you made your way here and look forward to welcoming you again.
Catch you on Thursday for a brand new #Chicandstylish #LINKUP.
Cheerio for today, have a super BHM everyone. X
Well done with your baby blue outfit which really does remind me of blue sky and white clouds or even white surf on the sea. These challenges are sometimes easier than others and I think I was very lucky to have a ready made backdrop for this one!
ReplyDeleteHurrah for another successful feature xxx
Isn't it lovely to be able to meet up with friends and family again? With the weather being so nice it finally feels like we're coming out of the pandemic...I just hope a third wave doesn't scupper it! Lovely outfit, the pale blue and white look fab together!
