How are you today?
Nearly July, can you believe that!!
Scary how quickly the months go by - we'll be starting Christmas shopping before long! (Sorry)!!
Now did you see my stories and IG page? Do you remember my son was competing in the Doggetts Coat and Badge race on the River Thames? Well he won!!!! I'm ecstatic and bursting with pride. I'll be sharing a dedicated post soon, so do look out for it my friends. 🥇
Today it’s time for another challenge for Style not Age, I do hope you enjoy seeing how we tackle these challenges as much as we love doing them!
This month it's been Gail's job to find a prompt for us, she's picked a brilliant one, which is just so apt for the month of June .....
Perfect Attire for a Picnic!
I had romantic ideas of a picnic in a field complete with picnic hamper, checkered table cloth & wispy grass swaying in a light warm breeze - alas my busy week and changeable weather scuppered those plans. I resorted to taking piccys in the garden with no fun filled afternoon in sight!
My dress is from Matalan, and was the obvious choice for a lazy summer picnic. I'll be holding onto that idea for a future outing, and will be wearing this outfit when I can. 💛💛
The buffet dress I picked seemed the right choice for a summery field picnic, easy to sit about in and modesty is keep when getting up from the blanket. It's also a comfortable style to lounge around in. The tiered skirt falls from the bodice, not the most flattering style for a pear shape and I toyed with popping a belt round it. Maybe another day when I'm out to eat in a restaurant I'll try that.
I picked a straw hat and bag to complete the look today, the bag would be filled with snacks for my outdoor feast although this picnic basket would be a much better option and one I might think about getting for the Summer.
Here's a closer look at the ditzy floral pattern over my dress. The tiny flowers of pale green, pretty coral pink, black and white look at home over this summer dress. It has a nice relaxed feel with the puffy 3/4 sleeves that have an elasticated finish just below the elbow. A shoestring tie at the neck also works well for this floaty dress and might just be my favourite style of the season. See the shorted version here.
I've also teamed it with my denim jacket & tassel boots for a complete boho feel.
There isn't really a style of footwear that looks out of place with this botanical dress, so instead of my little ankle boots you've seen styled before, I picked my white Van Dal sandals. They have a great heel height for strolling the fields to find the perfect venue, even if it's in the woods, these beauties are going to be your friends. You can see them in detail here paired with cropped jeans. X

Let's see what my four friends made of the happy prompt!
Gail went for something a little different, paper bag trousers and graphic tee shirt. I love the addition of basket bag, just perfect for you picnic snacks my friend. Find out all the details over on her blog Is This Mutton.
Next up Hilda - Over the Hilda. Who's picked up the perfect outfit to picnic in! With all the clothing coming from F & F you'll be able to pick up your food and drink for your alfresco meal there too!
Shall we take a look at what Emma is bringing to the picnic table? Gingham screams summer picnics and lazy afternoons don't you think? Emma's dress ticks all the boxes for a perfect meal outside.
You can read more about her look on the blog Style Splash.
Finally Anna - Anna's Island Style has opted for a stand in scenario like me! Not because of the weather but because of spending time with special friends that's much needed at the moment, so the picnic will have to wait. Love the colourful outfit Anna has gone for today, just like her bright and cheerful personality!
Many thanks for joining me today - you can click the links to see more of the other ladies styles - do let us know what you think, we love to hear from you. X
Hope you have a super weekend, I'll catch you all here again on Monday.
Bye for now. X

So kind, Thank you so much. x
DeleteI love going on picnics but we don't do much in the summertime because it is not very pleasant with the heat and bugs. I either would wear a long dress or some comfortable pants. And yes to a hat to protect my face from the sun.

Jacqui, a picnic in a field complete with picnic hamper, checkered table cloth & wispy grass swaying in a light warm breeze sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon. And your dress is a fabulous choice on what to wear for such an occasion.

Your pretty dress would be ideal for wafting about a summer meadow Jacqui and I do hope that you get the opportunity to do some of that this month. I did enjoy the challenge even though my outfit was very last minute in coming together!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week x
Jacqui, I love this dress! The ditsy floral is so whimsical and I really like the pale colors in the print, too. It is such a pretty, soft, feminine dress. You styled it perfectly for a picnic with your straw accessories!
