Style Not Age - Jackets for July!

Hi there my lovely friends.
So pleased you could join me today.

I've had a fantastic weekend, which started on Friday when I had a trip to the seaside with friends.  My Abu Dhabi ladies decided to catch up for an afternoon of fun and laughs, reminiscing about our previous holidays and the possibility of planning another when we can get away safely - who knows when that will be!  We're all wanting to get away as soon as we can and feel, like everyone, that we took going away for granted!
We took the train to Broadstairs and found our way (via a gorgeous boutique - and yes I did buy a dress!) to the little Italian restaurant which overlooked the beach.  After a delicious meal and a couple of bottles of Prosecco we moved onto an outdoor bar for cocktails and more laughs and chatter.  It was so nice to actually feel free and normal.  I hadn't realised just how different and restrained I'd felt.  We had a couple of Porn Star Martinis (my favourite) and felt even more relaxed with the great company and enchanting surroundings. We made our way back to the station and then back home, all feeling happy and content with the meet-up and looking forward to doing it again. X

Saturday was a spent in the garden cutting yet more hedges ... seriously who needs the amount of garden and hedges we have!  😖
If you're lucky enough to have grand-kids you'll know how fun it is to have them for a sleepover.  It was my daughter's wedding anniversary so whilst they celebrated with a night out having dinner - we had McD's and a house full of children (3 to sleep and 1 more for dinner)  It was bedlam, but they all had fun bounching around playing with toys, hide-and-seek and generally being loud!  I got them settled at a reasonable hour making way for a film and a glass of chilled rose - well maybe more than one glass was consumed - ha ha!

Okay I'm going to pull myself away from the weekend frolics and talk about the July Style not Age challenge which was set by me!

Jackets for July.

I felt this title would give a wide scope for everyone, and with the weather being so changeable it would be the perfect prompt to cover every eventuality.  I had a few ideas for today's outfit, but settled on this new number from Bonmarche.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

I have numerous jackets to my name, but am always on the lookout for more.  When Bonmarche asked me to pick a few items from their new range I immediately knew I wanted this linen jacket* to be included.  What better shade to chose than white!  I was even more impressed with it when it arrived, it's a fantastic - true to size fit and excellent finish.
Even though its a linen blend it's not easily creased when worn.  I hate to wear an item that creases as you look at it!  The lined blazer is machine washable and the comfortable jacket will compliment just about any buffet dress or jean/shirt ensemble you can throw at it.  I've got endless ideas of what to style it with, so I do hope you don't get too bored my friends!!

The weather played an import part in my choice, I've been wearing lots of dresses recently as it's been so hot, but picked my wide leg trousers to come out to play along with this flattering bargain blouse from H & M.  The 'Wedgewood' pattern stood out to me, it's been a style I've always liked and on the blouse it looks so dainty and quite eye-catching.  I slipped on white braided mules that are easy to wear and picked my bold blue clutch to tie in with my blouse.

We took the train to Broadstairs and found our way (via a gorgeous boutique - and yes I did buy a dress!)

Now it's my girls turn.

First up let's see what Anna chose. White jeans and graphic T combo are brought together with magnificent flare with a green jean jacket - perfect!   See more from Anna on her blog - Anna's Island Style.

Emma - Style Splash opted for this mix of animal designs topped off with a delightful coral jacket bringing everything together with easy and style.

Hilda picked this patterned beauty to compliment her jeans and white t-shirt combo.  Catch all the details and more from Hilda on her blog - Over the Hilda.

Finally here's what Gail - Is This Mutton? decided to wear for the jacket challenge. A stunning mauve  biker jacket over white trousers and luscious lime green top, what a winning look Gail.

Many thanks for joining us today - hope we've given you some inspiration and new ideas.

  1. This was such a lovely challenge Jacqui! No scratching of heads and delving deep into the recesses of my wardrobe needed. Your white linen jacket will be a great choice for so many outfits for you this summer. Lucky you!

  2. You've chosen so well with that jacket, I bought a white boucle jacket in 2017 and still wear it to death every summer! Thanks for a great challenge x

  3. The pop of blue with the clutch is so pretty. A white jacket was a great choice! I was hoping to wear my white denim jacket with a sleeveless dress at church yesterday but it was too hot so I ended up using a scarf. In a couple months, we will be able to wear a layer maybe in the evening?

  4. A super choice Jacqui and I think we all enjoyed it. I love everyone's outfits and particularly like a linen jacket that does not crease. Nice blouse too and great idea to put a deeper blue clutch with it.

  8. What a fabulous outfit, Jacqui. I really like the soft color palette and your white linen blazer is gorgeous. I am intrigued by these porn star martinis! I am not of a drinker, but I think I may need to give this cocktail a try! Thanks for linking with me.

  10. What a great theme to chose for this collaboration post. Many people probably don't give thought to jackets in summer but I think they are still quite useful and shouldn't be an afterthought in one's outfit. You made an excellent choice with this white linen blazer and your styling of it is marvelous.
