I've had a busy few days over the weekend and have thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Friday the usual dancing into the weekend finishing off the waltz I started learning the week before. As a young child I loved watching Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dancing across a huge stage with fabulous backdrops and often wished I could dance like they did. I went on to learn ballet, tap and modern dancing and loved every minute of it. I was involved in shows and taking exams, but rarely entered any competitions. Since beginning Ballroom dancing a few years ago I've wished I'd have learnt earlier than just over fifty, so I'm having to make up for it now and look forward to Friday evenings with excitement.
Saturday night hubby and I got to enjoy a long awaited Christmas present from the kids. We had a voucher to sample the tasty cuisine at The Fordwich Arms which is not too far from us. Do have a look at this post to see what we ate!
Sunday was spent in London. My husband and SIL went to watch football at Arsenal - not something my daughter and I really enjoy so we spent a few lovely hours shopping and having a snack. We did the usual Covent Garden and surrounding area, and had wanted to see a show but the times didn't fit for us. It was nice to just talk about all sorts - her baby is due in November & when she finishes work I'm sure we'll have a bit more time to catch up before baby arrives - then she won't have time to think let alone talk eh!
I opted for comfort over a dressy dress, I would have preferred to flounce around in one of my buffet dresses, but the weather hinted at rain (which we got) so my jeans and trainers were a more suitable substitute.
Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
The jeans are from a selection at Marks and Spencer, I love their jeans and have got a few pairs already. They seem to be good value for money and with quite a few different styles they always have something that's suitable. Mine are the nearest ripped jean I'd wear, I have to have something covering my legs, & open holes aren't a good look for me!
These Hotter 'Switch' trainers have been a god-send. I won them in an Instagram competition and quite frankly couldn't be without them. They look equally as nice worn with jeans like I've worn here and edgy with a pretty dress, I'm not sure hubby is a fan, but they work for me .... especially when I'm doing a bit of shopping but want to look trendy!
I teamed a pretty linen top over jeans for a relaxed and casual vibe, topped off with my white jean jacket that I didn't really need as it was quite humid - I wore it as a shield from the rain, but got way too sweaty in it! Fortunately we found a little alfresco bar to have a much appreciated glass of Prosecco!
The new range offers versatile and feminine tunic tops that are a flattering new option to go with leggings and jeans or you could top off a complimentary skirt too. The linen-look spot print top* was a joy to wear, it worked a dream with my light wash jeans and did a good job of keeping me cool. I did the 'bloggers' half tuck, but it could easily be transported into a more formal style by tucking it all into a fitted skirt! Available in S,M & L, I opted for a medium which I would say is a 12-14 UK size. With a price tag of £15 and the option of 5 other colour choices I make this a winning pick for sure!
Snacks included at our pit stop, I had an open chicken, avocado and mozzarella sandwich covered with rocket, parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar while Emily had a granola bowl - both really tasty and it was nice to shelter from the rain whilst devouring our food and talking - we can both 'talk for England' Lol!
A little Fizz in Covent Garden! Well why ever not! 😉
Football over (that's a sore point, not the score we wanted) so we decided to meet up en-route in one of my favourite restaurants. Burger & Lobster have a few places dotted around London and we made our way to one that was on our way back to the car. Have you ever been to a Burger & Lobster venue? Well if you like both lobsters and burgers then this is a place for you to try. Hubby and I shared a combo for 2, comprising of a whole lobster served with lemon & garlic butter, fries & salad, original burger and original lobster roll - both were sliced and served on individual plates - well one word comes to min .... heaven!
Back home via tube and car ... it was a long, but wonderful day. It's been a brilliant weekend, and nice to have some normality back. X
Did you spot my bag? Found a bargain in TK Maxx - will be showing you what I bought soon!
Thank you so much for joining me today, I do hope you like reading what I get up to and what I wear.
