White Horse Energy - BBQ Time.

Morning everyone, how was your weekend?
Mine was fabulous.

All the family round for dinner yesterday as Hubby and I prepared Beef Wellington with Dauphinoise Potatoes and a mixture of veg followed by fresh fruit with marshmallows and dipping chocolate.
I love to have all the family round, but it isn't always possible as some have families of their own to think about.
I also had a family gathering last week and enjoyed a BBQ in the garden with some of the kids, I'm trying to make the most of any snippet of warm weather as I'm afraid Autumn will be upon us soon and we'll be thinking of getting all snuggly indoors with the heating on!

Where do you get your BBQ supplies from?  Have you heard of White Horse Energy?
I've been excited to receive a box of EcoBlaze Charcoal Briquettes* and EcoBlaze Natural Firelighters.* from them and am thrilled with the results.

White Horse Energy supplies wood pellets, kiln dried firewood and wood briquettes nationwide, with blisteringly quick delivery times and a commitment to exemplifying all that customer service should be.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

Picking the day for our BBQ proved quite tricky.  The weather in the UK doesn't lend itself to having BBQ's often and we tend to play-it-by-ear to be honest!  Last week turned out okay really, hubby checked the weather for last Thursday the weekend before, and hey presto the weather was kind to us.
Setting everything up late afternoon we were all set to go.  We wanted to eat early as the grand-kids were also joining us so the BBQ was started.

Hubby layered the EcoBlaze Firelighters and Charcoal Briquettes across the bottom of the tray, he lit them and impressively they were blazing immediately.  We were pleased not to need fire lighter gel like we usually do.  They turned the usual hue of white before taking on the burning glow of red, which was about half an hour later.   Hurrah it was now ready to start cooking!  We could feel the heat from the container and minded the children to stay away from it. This is always the job for the men in our house, the girls fetching and carrying meat and veg to cook, laying the table and setting everything out.

I hope you like this piece I found, it clearly states the RULES of BBQ-ing! 😂🍖🍗🔥🔥🔥

BBQ RULES

We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:

Routine...
(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

Here comes the important part:
(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine....
(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.

Important again:
(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine....
(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:
(10) Everyone PRAISES and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off.' And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....

We cooked the usual burgers, sausages, kofte's, chicken thighs marinated in Nando's sauce along with chicken wings in salt and chillie.  There were some pre-boiled corn-on-the-cob's which my grandson loved, as I did too.  To accompany the meat we had potato salad, coleslaw, tuna and sweetcorn pasta, green salad and a big glass of wine (for me). 😜

Some two hours later the coals were still looking like hot molten, they could still be cooked on which is brilliant - most briquettes barely last an hour!

  1. Pete loves to BBQ, probably because he eats a lot of meat. We have a big gas BBQ with a separate section for vegan burgers and sausages! Shame it hasn't been nice weather for cooking outdoors lately though. Thanks for linking up!

  2. Your maxi dress is beautiful! Looks like such a fun BBQ :) We have a gas BBQ, I can't think of anyone who uses a coal one, as we often have the BBQ on so gas seems like the best option, haha !Until the gas runs out, it's done that a couple times during cooking so we have to transfer things over to the grill inside, ha! Just doesn't taste the same as something properly BBQ'd though!

Thanks for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a lovely weekend :)
