Evening Dressing at Fishmongers Hall.

Morning my lovely friends.
Hope all is well with you.
Another busy weekend for me.
Friday evening the usual ballroom dancing which had me spinning round the floor learning the Viennese Waltz!  It was a one off taster lesson where we learnt some 12 steps they were all quite basic and easy, but put together with fast music made it a whole lot harder!  I have to say I loved it too, and have another classic under my belt.
Saturday I popped into town to grab a couple of bits and came home with another pair of River Island jeans.  Do you recall that David bought me a pair recently and I was so impressed with the quality I had to have another pair in a different style.  Do watch out for my straight leg jeans, they're going to be getting quite a lot of wear I think!
Saturday night was spent at a friends celebrating her 60th.  It was good to get together with our friends, have a drink, chat, bite to eat and we even managed some dancing and singing!  The typical Sunday morning followed, you know the one where you wished you'd said "no" to the last glass of fizz! Lol.
As you can imagine Sunday was a slow day, with a roast for family & not a lot else being done.  We also welcomed our new addition!  Max had his first Berry Roast, even if it was 'second hand' from Mummy. 💕

Today's post is all about my visit to Fishmongers Hall in London a couple of weeks ago.
My son, who won The Doggetts Coat and Badge Race, was presented with suit, watch and trophy.  You may have already seen my post on IG where I shared what I wore and a bit about the evening.

I left getting a long evening dress to the last minute as usual.  With nothing in the local shops I resorted to my pet hate ... online shopping!  I tracked down four dresses and settled on this flattering sequined beauty from Boohoo via Debenhams.  I was excited at the price of £50 and couldn't wait to get it and try it on.  When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the quality.  Sequins covered the fit and flared sleeveless dress.  It had wide vest style straps and a complimentary 'V' neckline it only had one little problem .... it was see through!!! Yep, I know some young chicks would simply look divine in this sort of dress showing off their svelte figures but not for me a fifty seven year old.  So after the initial show-the-kids with a bright bikini under it  ...  🤣 I opted for a full slip beneath it.  I do need to get a full length version, but feel the look it portrayed was elegant and stylish ... what do you think?

I thought I'd show you the other outfits, most of them would have been suitable as they fitted well and looked pretty good, but my heart was set as soon as I put it on.

This sparkly creation is from Goddiva and hubby picked it.  It's a beautiful maxi and really is stunning.  However I felt it was a bit too OTT for my event and it was a bit too long for me, I couldn't see any way of shortening it without spoiling the look, so it has to be returned.  With a stunning array of sequined maxi's and midi's I'd thoroughly recommend having a look on their website as the prices are fab too.

Pleats are a big favourite of mine, so this was a possible option.  The Coast dress was a pleated maxi & fitted perfectly and I found the little lace top a delightful addition which gave the dress a nicely polished finish.  My only gripe was the colour, I'm not really a navy person and felt an evening dress needed to be either coloured, sparkly or just black.

I felt amazing in this dress from Lipsy as it was very fitted.  I was pleased it showed the few pounds I'd recently lost in a positive way.  The only snitch was a bulky pocket of material that just didn't lay right - it popped out every time I tried to flatten it.  Alas that one was returned too!  I was really impressed with the price of this lace topped dress and had the side not been awkwardly out-of-place it would have been a big contender.

So more about the evening.
We were greeted in the stunning entrance and shown to our private table to enjoy a superb three course meal with wine served at every course.  I thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal, and admit that Keto slipped that night as I ate bread, pasta and pastry (maybe it was just as well I didn't wear the skin tight dress after all!)  James had already received his Doggetts Coat and had changed into it.  His Pinchbeck watch was presented to him so there were plenty of photos being taken, one cheeky photo of his sister wearing the coat too! 😉

Finally we were ushered into the balcony area which overlooked the huge banqueting hall to witness him being presented to the court.  It was very moving to watch, and made me so proud of all the hard work and determination James has shown over the past few years - overcoming a personal tragedy and losing over 6 stone in weight!  A truly wonderful event which was fabulous to have been included in. So getting all dolled up was the icing on the cake!

Many thanks for joining me, so glad you were around.
Have a super week, and I’ll see you on Thursday for the #chicandstylish #LINKUP
Cheerio for now. X
