Such sad news this week, my heart goes out to the people of Ukraine, and I hope there will be a safe and speedy conclusion to what's happening. 💙💛
Have you had a good week? I'm STILL anticipating the arrival of my grandchild. My daughter, as you can imagine, is pulling her hair out. Baby should be here by next week though, so I'll let you know my friends. X
Well the end of February did have some lovely weather and it almost felt Spring like here, alas that didn't last and we've experience drizzle since the beginning of March. I know we've not had much rain over the past few months, but it was just starting to feel like Spring was in the air ... lol!
Florals are always in fashion, and what about dark florals? Well they are too. I have plenty of flowery garments in my wardrobe and love pairing them with all sorts. However the dress I'm sharing with you today has such a big flowery print over it, I'm only thinking of styling it with plain accessories. I want the pattern to shine through so it can be appreciated for what it is ... big and bold, lilac and orange, moody but still sexy.
Found this beautiful dress in Dorothy Perkins whilst looking for shoes! Well you know how it is, us ladies just go off on a tangent don't we? So along with this blooming dress came another silky dream and a skirt with a side split, alas no shoes, but I'm still looking. 😆 I'll share them both with you in the next week or so, but they're both going to be excellent 'essentials' for my wardrobe .. (well aren't they all essentials to be fair) lol.
You can't see the top of this dress as I've winterised it with my vest top, however it has a square neckline with a shirred back detail therefore keeping it nice and fitted. It's also got these charming sleeves. Sleeve details are going to be a big thing this year, so my dress will be perfect for the Spring and Summer months when I'll get the full benefit of them. It also has an off-the-shoulder function, but I'll have to share that with you another time.
We're heading into the time of year when we need trans-seasonal items, and the vest top fits the bill with ease. I've got a handful to my name, and have added them to all sorts of outfits like my beige version over this dress, my navy over pleated skirt style & this cable knit with jeans look.
I must tell you that I'm pleasantly surprised at how nice these colours look, lilac isn't a shade I ever wear, and to be fair I don't have much of this orange in my wardrobe either. What do you think, should I embrace the tones or steer clear?
As I said previously I opted to wear black additions with my much loved slouch boots and new recently gifted black Alma bag - you can read more about that on Monday's post when I styled it for the Style Not Age Challenge.

Thank you so much Mireille. x
DeleteLilac and orange are not colors that I'd typically put together. But they certainly work well in this dress. The black vest sets off the pattern nicely.
