Dining at The Ritz.

Morning my friends.
Have you had a super weekend?
I've had a really busy one.
On Friday I was in London with my husband and son for another presentation at Waterman's Hall.  This was for winning the Doggett's Coat and Badge race last year - you can read all about it on this post.
I wore a dress that was featured on the blog a while back and the black and white shirt dress looked good even though we'd had to travel in the rain!
Saturday was a very slow day due to mixing my drinks.  I'm the one who always preaches to the kids not to mix drinks and there I was doing the very thing I shouldn't have!  I did pay for it the next day and even went back to bed to try and get over my hangover!  Will I ever learn to say no to the last drinks? Lol.

Sunday was a different story, I woke early and popped into town to try and get something to wear yesterday.  I did come home with two dresses, you can see I picked this pretty cornflower blue Spring dress to wear even though it also rained yesterday too!  I'll be featuring the second on the blog later in the week so I hope you'll stop by to see it.

With lots of charming Spring tea dresses, brightly coloured trousers and some tempting jumpers I was spoilt for choice.

So let me tell you more about my Sunday.  Way back in 2019 I bought a voucher for David to have dinner at the Ritz for his Christmas present.  My sister also bought the same for her husband and we planned our evening for a few months later - alas we all know how the story went and with some two more cancelled dates yesterday finally arrived and without any hitches we made our way to London and enjoyed a wonderful evening at the delightful 5 star restaurant.

Sorry I'm going to tease you now, here's what we savoured.  This was accompanied by an amazing glass of champagne, my absolute favourite, I'd already had a couple of glasses of Prosecco, but there really is no comparison between the two is there.

I started with Cornish Cod with Mussel, Grape and Sea Fennel.

Followed by Cutlet and Filet of Lamb Roscoff Onion and Mint.

For dessert I picked Seville Orange Souffle with Grand Marnier Vanilla.

Followed by these delicious after dinner sweets, all tasted divine and I couldn't begin to tell you what they were but obviously one was a macaroon.

My outfit was a bit last minute as I only bought it in the morning.  The last time I popped into my local M & S I was very disappointed at what was on offer, there were no Spring items, but the story was rather different on Sunday morning.  With lots of charming Spring tea dresses, brightly coloured trousers and some tempting jumpers I was spoilt for choice.

I knew I wanted to wear my long cream boots, they are perfect for Spring and although the weather wasn't playing ball, they certainly lifted my look from dreary to dreamy.  I don't often buy anything in this shade of blue, but I felt it looked nice on and dare I say quite suited me AND it really brightened my mood.

As it was cold, you can't see but I had warm leggings and a T shirt underneath, which certainly did keep me cosy as it was very wet and quite windy getting to and from the station and the restaurant.

The classic tea dress is still as popular as ever.  It's an appealing length too, as the midaxi is flattering on nearly everyone.  M & S really do get extra points for this dress because they offer it in short, medium and long - there's a size for everyone.
I topped the outfit off with a very old trench coat.  I bought this back in the 80's (you can tell by the raglan sleeve detail) and it's served me extremely well over the years.  It's a great length and covers most of my dresses - giving a look a very elegant vibe - do you wear trench coats, bet you don't have one as old as mine!!

  2. I love this cornflower blue dress - it's so spring-like! Your dinner at the Ritz clearly lived up to expectations and looked totally delicious. The trench may be old, but your styling with that elegantly draped scarf looks terribly chic and just right for the occasion.
