A Pink Teddy Blake - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning everyone,
Thanks for joining me today.
Do add to the #Linkup below, be great to see what you've been wearing lately.

Well I'm well and truly in the thick of birthday celebrations with Hubby's yesterday and my son-in-laws today!  Not a big celebration, just pizza and a couple of drinks so no sore heads today - always a silver lining!
Ballet starts again today and I hope to find out my results from the recent exam I took - I'll let you know how I get one.  It's also my son-in-law's birthday today, so will be seeing him later after a visit to The Cotswold Company as I've been invited to their opening launch party - will try popping something up on IG for you to see.

I said on Monday I would share a recent gift with you. Seems by birthday came when this beauty arrived - it's a stunner!  Well just see for yourself who wouldn't want this stunning Teddy Blake bag?

Style not Age - This Old Thing!

Hello and welcome to the blog.
How's you week gone?

They seem to be flying by for me, I only seem to blink and it's Monday again!
Had another super family filled weekend.  It's was my eldest's birthday on St Georges Day (Saturday) and she had a little gathering of about 50 people.  It was lovely to all be together which has been much miss I can tell you. It ended up quite a late night for me, but totally worth it although we missed a lift home and had to walk (took twice as long as we were both a bit tipsy .. ha ha).
Have you managed a large family event yet?

As you can imagine Sunday was a slow day and I decided to not cook a big dinner.  Yes you guessed what we ate ... an Indian - my absolute favourite, followed by chocolate - I just had to finish the rest of my Easter Egg, I just need them gone!
I had little Max to look after but he was, as usual, as good as gold.

So do you remember me telling you I was going on a one-2-one photography course?  It was for three hours on Friday in Canterbury.  I didn't know what to expect, but took along my camera - making sure I remembered my SD card and that the battery was full.  The course started at 10 am and I met up with the lovely Tania by The Marlowe Theater.  We went back to her flat where she explained all sorts of details about exposure compensation, focus, camera settings and things like making the background blurry.  I can honestly say I couldn't remember everything that Tania told me, but she has since sent a brief summary of what she taught me along with general notes for the one day digital course. I will be doing lots of studying over the next few weeks.  I set the camera up for hubby to take photos (I'm sharing those on Thursday) and today's were the second lot he took - still not 100% but I feel it's a work in progress and as they say Rome wasn't built in a day was it?  I've just been working on one setting so far and feel it will be better to start on one thing and really learn that before trying anything else - any pointers greatly appreciated. X

Anyway back to the blog, it's the last Monday of the month which means it's time for me and the ladies from Style Not Age to share our takes on the prompt that Gail presented us with ....

...This Old thing!

I'm Ditsy over Florals - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hello and welcome to Mummabstylish.
So happy you've found my blog today.

I'm an over fifty fashion blogger and love sharing my styles and a little of my lifestyle.  I'm a busy mum of 5 grown up kids who have blessed me with 7 grand-kids ... so far.
It's a hectic house as I have two still at home and the others are only a short journey away.  They are always popping by or needing help so there's always something going on.  Just yesterday I looked after two of them whilst daddy caught up on sleep (he works shift patterns) and the night before I had little Max whilst mummy and daddy went out for dinner.  They certainly do keep me on my toes - quite literally!
Tell me are you hand's-on grand-parents or still parents - it's hard work and I take my hat of to you!

I'm also a very excited Mummabstylish.  Reason being I've treated myself to a one-to-one photography course.  It's just for a few hours on Friday (tomorrow) but I hope to have mastered how to take (or set up the camera) photos of me for the blog - wish me luck!

I'm so thankful to have wonderful children who are fully supportive of me and my blog.  They help me in any way they can.  Hubby also helps me with ideas for blogs and also taking photos.  So once I've had my lesson on Friday I hope I've got a better idea of what I'm doing, fingers crossed for better photos.
My youngest daughter helped take these photos today, hasn't she caught the skirt brilliantly!

Easter Egg Hunt!

Happy Easter Monday everyone.
How's your weekend gone so far?

I've had a brilliant time.  Dancing on Friday when we finished off the Tango!  I thoroughly enjoyed it and had the pleasure of dancing at the end for the tuition video - I'll have to check with the teacher to see if I can share it on here!
Saturday was grass cutting and getting the garden ready for the Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday morning.
We had a yummy takeout curry whilst watching Joker staring Joaquin Phoenix.  What a dark and mysterious film but I have to say I was gripped throughout the dramatic psychological thriller and found the performance by JP amazing - if you've not seen it I'd 100% recommend it!

More about this outfit on Thursday, but today I'd like to share yesterday's Easter Egg Hunt. 🥚

Matalan Florals - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there,
How you all doing?

It's the Easter holidays and we have a family dinner planned for Sunday after the usual Easter Egg Hunt.  Hope it's warm and sunny for the kids as we have a big garden (you recall I'm always moaning about cutting the grass) so there's plenty of hiding places.  Do you do anything special for Easter?

Talking of the garden, I need to get my pots planted for the Summer, I adore seeing the flowers bloom and my all time favourite has to be an agapanthus.  The lilac flower balls are a sight to see and I can't wait to spot the stems growing day by day.  I've also got a beautiful peony that finally bloomed last year after nothing at all since it was planted!  I have a couple of rose bushes, all gifts and all have pretty stunning buds later in the season.  My love for flowers continues into what I wear.  I'm a big fan of flowery dresses and this year there's an abundance of floral accessories like shoes, bags and hair accessories.  I might try out the latter, but I'm not a big fan of flowers on the other pieces - maybe a blouse is more my thing as are dresses.  Would you wear floral shoes?

Today I'm sharing the prettiest dress with you.  There's a riotous scattering of pink, yellow and blue petals over this smock dress, which gives scope for lots of accents - I hope you like mine?

Spring Greens from Cotton Traders.

Morning everyone.
How are you all today?

I've had another super weekend, with lots accomplished.
Saturday was one of those days when loads got done and Sunday wasn't too bad either.  Hubby and I cut both front and back grass and did plenty of clearing and sorting.  We also got a few jobs done in the house with my daughter helping sort some of the crap we had stored.  Are we the only house who has tons of 'stuff' all over the place?  There's lots to go to the charity shop, some bags to go to the tip and a few bits that have just been 'moved' lol!

Another amazing dinner on Sunday with roast lamb being served for 7.  I do enjoy having the family round for dinner, we always have plenty to laugh about and I end up eating way to much!

I've wanted to add more brighter colours to my outfits, and one colour that's missing is green.  It's not a shade I choose to wear, but think it might suit my colouring ... I have hazel eyes so when I do pick it I often get nice compliments.  When I was invited to style some Cotton Traders items I immediately added this stunning green cardigan to my list.  Have you noticed it's all about cardigans recently?  Plenty of ladies styling them back-to-front or doing buttons up different ways, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give that a try.
But today I'll share the basic way to wear it.

Styling my Salamander Shirt with Vivaia Mules - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
Hope you are well.

Apologies for being so late today, the wind played havoc with my photos and it's put me all behind, that and the fact I've been suffering with a cough, cold and sore throat this week - not Covid as I had that about three weeks ago and sailed through it!  The gran-kids have all had coughs & colds so it was inevitable that I would catch something.  It's been awful though and I can't remember the last time I felt so ill with a cold, it's also turned into Laryngitis, so I've a squeaky, nearly non-existent voice (which caused a funny 'problem' when collecting an in-store delivery) & is driving me mad - I hate being unwell!

So my funny story started when I went to collect an item I'd bought on-line from New Look.  I hadn't received the confirmation email to say it was in, but because I'd gone over to collect another item from the toy shop nearby I thought I'd see if it was there.  With a squeaky voice and a perspex partition I asked for the item, showing my phone which had the reference number on and gave my name - the girl said she'd just seen the package, found it and gave it to me.  Off I went with this bag, that did seem rather bigger than I had anticipated, but figured maybe I'd had something else in the basket which I'd paid for too!  I got home and finally got round to opening the parcel, it wasn't a pair of trousers I'd ordered, but a few other bits, that were definitely for a younger - slimmer person.  I looked at the name, which coincidentally had my niece's maiden name on it but thought she'd use her married name so didn't think it would be her's.
I rang the store to explain and was told that the parcel did belong to my family member and she would arrange collection from me!  My parcel hadn't arrived and is there now - I'm not making another trip over there yet, I'll go when I'm feeling a bit better.
Moral of the story ... check the name on the bag when you get it - mistakes happen, check the correct reference number and name of the person you're giving the bag to. Lol

Mummabstylish is now starting the birthday season, with two this week already, I'm trying to stay one step ahead by getting cards and sorting gifts out, but I'm sure that won't last and I'll be buying last minute like normal ... ha ha ha.

March Review.

Morning my lovely friends.
How are you all?
Cold, that's my word of the week!  I've been absolutely freezing, how about you?  I was saying to my daughter I expect weather like this in Jan and Feb, but after having a few lovely sunny days this cold snap was the last thing I wanted or expected!  The wind has been blowing such chilly weather all I really want to do is hole up inside watching TV and eating crap!!!  Let's hope a warmer climate it on it's way, but as it's the Easter holidays, I'm sure that wont happen!

So as it's be start of a new month, shall we see what the March looked like for Mummabstylish?
March Review.

Back in the beginning of March I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another grandchild. Our beautiful little Kimberley was born nearly two weeks late!  All safe and sound now and I've had plenty of cuddles.
I was also styling some gorgeous outfits and here's the first beauty of the bunch.
A dark floral dress caught my eye on the Dorothy Perkins website. I clicked the button and it arrived after a couple of days, here's how I styled it and all the details about it - love the bright Spring vibes it gives off and with the vest it's made more suitable for Winter weather.
