How was your weekend?
I'm on the run-up to my holiday, this week I'll be getting all of my toiletries bought, my nails done, eyelashes sorted and generally properly sorting my case. I have a couple of bits to buy at the airport, but basically I'm done.
Father's Day yesterday was lovely, we went out for breakfast to a local cafe, I don't usually have breakfast, but decided to have poached egg on sourdough with smashed avocado and smoked salmon - It was delicious, but really filled me up. I did managed to enjoy the Tapas meal the kids arranged for David at my daughters house. I'll be smelling all garlicky this morning in my gym classes, but the food they all prepared was worth it, shall I tempt you? Okay I will! We ate garlic king prawns, meatballs, cous cous, roasted chicken, merguez sausages, chorizo & peppers in tomato sauce & potato bravas - sounds amazing doesn't it! We had a super afternoon with beers and sangria to wash down the tapas dishes. Did you have a celebration for Father's Day, hope you special men were spoilt X
Alas I don't have my dad around, neither does David but we did raise a glass to them as we always do.
Today I thought I'd share my look from yesterday with you, it's another peek at my orange espadrilles.
Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
I based my outfit around the sandals, as I sometimes do. I don't have much in this shade but what I do have is this fabulous dress. It's been on the blog before and it's a colour that makes me happy when I wear it.
It makes me think of the stunning sunsets I've seen over the years, both locally and abroad. I recall going to Ibiza some years ago and watching the sunset in San Antonio at Cafe Mambo. I'd heard so much about this venue and have to admit to being a little underwhelmed when I arrived. I think I'd made it up into some amazing place and when it was what I imagined I felt quite sad. It was very busy & rather over-crowded and was full of bars & restaurants along the strip.
We watched the sunset and it was beautiful with soft, relaxing music being played and all the crowd marvelling at the sight of the sun setting into the sea in the distance. I was almost shocked when the sun finally sunk and everyone clapped ... it wasn't anything new and would happen again and again and again!! We have beautiful sunsets in Whitstable too, we just don't always have the right weather to see it!
Anyway back to my orange ensemble.
I bought the dress last year in the Wallis sale, I've worn it a few times and it's one of those dresses that look charming on & feels great to wear. It has a flattering draw string waist and the midi style is really quite appealing. I popped this cute crochet jumper from Cotton Traders* over the top. To add a bit more shape over the dress I tied an elastic band over bangle creating a gathered effect on the front. Do let me know if you'd like help this how to do it, I found it on Tik Tok.
This dinky little bag was a birthday present from David and my Steve Madden arm candy maybe small, but it's saying a lot don't you think! I like the girly handle and it has another long half chain to make it into a cross-body too.
I kept jewellery to a minimum - wearing only my gold watch and my favourite pearl earrings.
I've nearly always got a pair of sunnies on and today I picked these Ralph Lauren gold frames to keep the theme going.
Have a super week and I'll see you on Thursday.
Bye bye. X
Good Morning Jacqui! It sounds like you had a wonderful celebration! I love Tapas! We went to a brunch with the whole family and had a good time at a baseball game in Charlotte. I made a home made Sangria too! I have been loving orange lately too and have my toes and fingernails done in 2 diff orane shades. Does remind you of the sun! Love your dress with the white crochet top and those fab espadrilles.

DeleteGorgeous look, Jacqui!!! I can't wait to see all of the photos and hear about your mega vacation! I don't think I've ever built an outfit around my shoes...they always seem like afterthoughts to me...I should work harder at that!
ReplyDeleteWe had a quiet Father's Day here...burgers on the grill with our youngest. Nice and quiet and peaceful...exactly what I needed!
