How's it going?
My daughter's birthday today, so we will be celebrating with a few drinks tonight, with a fish and chip dinner as well. Happy Birthday Sophie - Little Berry Bakes.
Popped into town yesterday to pick up a few bits, the sales are on in some of the stores, but I still didn't manage to find anything that excited me enough to bring it home! I also didn't buy anything on my recent trip to Greece, to be fair there wasn't that many shops where we went and the ones they had were mostly tourist shops selling leather goods, hats and local jewellery. Not that I need anything you understand but it's nice to bring something fancy home to remind me of my stay.
You may know how well my husband does at getting me presents for birthdays and Christmas. Well today I thought I'd show what he got me for my birthday back in May. It's taken until this holiday to wear it, however there is a good reason why!
I wouldn't usually choose white to wear as my skin is usually as white as the item, however with two holidays, a sunbed and a good sun cream I got a really good tan to show it off. I simply love anything lace and I think my hubby knows it. So when he produced this beauty for my birthday I fell for it straight away. It's a fabulous length which finishes midway between knee and ankle and has appealing 3/4 sleeves that have the same fluted finish as the hem. I found the deep V neck lovely too.
It has a flattering panel inside the bodice which left the shoulders and arms on show as did the lace on the waist band.
I couldn't wait to try it on, but once I had I realised the half slip attached to the skirt could have left me in a rather embarrassing situation - you see it finished just below my rear, and should I have bent over ... well I'll leave that to your imagination ... lol.
Read on to find out what I did .....
I can confirm I was as hot as I look in these photos. That was me all week, hair up and hardly any makeup on! Thank goodness for eyelash extensions and semi-permanent makeup! I use this hair piece every once in a while, it's one of those elastic scrunchies with hair attached, I just cover it over my messy bun. Do you wear anything like this?
Now back to my 'slip' issue.
I put on my slip, {I know they are old fashioned now, but I hate to see a dress that shows lumps and bumps and outlines of underwear, and also when you get a hungry bottom, if you know what I mean 🤣} but that made the original darker and didn't look right. I eventually found some fabric to add to the bottom of what was already there. I cut to the right length and got my little sewing machine out to join the two pieces together. Hey Presto ... It did the job and evaded my possible 'flashing' situation.
I kept the look simple with white knotted mules and a little black clutch bag. I could have worn a necklace and had just the right one in mind, but left it off to reveal my tan - well they do say less is more!
