Style Not Age have it Buttoned Up!

Morning my friends.
How are you?

Another weekend that flew by.  Out dancing on Friday night and we finished learning the Quickstep.  It was very fast too and I'm pleased I managed to get all the steps in the right order at the right time - phew!  I'm going to invest in some new dancing shoes in the next week or so, as the pair I've got were quite a cheap and aren't offering any kind of support around my foot, then I'm suffering with sore feet in the following days.

Saturday evening I went out to a friends house.  David and I went for dinner with some other friends and it was good to catch up and chat over home cooked burgers and a few glasses of fizz.  I have to say Sunday was slow, even after a lay-in I felt quite jaded and welcomed the fact that I'd already finished the bulk of today's blog post.
I hope you had a fun weekend and enjoyed some nice weather wherever you are in the world.  I've been thinking about spring styles and have a couple of new pieces to share with you soon. Sad to say I've not been in town so haven't seen any new styles 'up close and personal', but I'm planning on a trip soon and hope the stores will be bursting with new ideas, colours and fashions - have you bought anything new recently?

Today, being the last Monday of the month welcome's the Style Not Age collective.  In case you don't know what we're all about, me and four friends tackle a prompt set by one of us each month and produce unique looks promoting our own individual flair & style.

This month our instigator was Gail, she picked Buttoned Up & I have to admit it had me stumped!
I didn't get this one under my belt until late last week when I finally decided on these cotton trousers!

So let me tell you a bit more about my outfit based around the prompt Buttoned Up.
I've got plenty of shirts in my wardrobe and for that matter loads of jackets too, but I wanted something to stand out a bit more.  I have a gorgeous pair of white culottes that have striking tortoise shell buttons down the front and contemplated wearing them, but felt it's still a tad too cold to be wearing something so Summery.
You eagle eyed followers will remember me sharing these trousers on Instagram before, I wore them to the opening of The Cotswold Company and teamed them with a khaki shirt, faux leather jacket and suede boots.  I'm not sure why they haven't been on the blog before so today they're making their debut and I hope you like them my friends.

They're a soft cotton fabric that has a thin pin stripe running through it.  Depending on the person viewing they're either a grey or khaki and can be worn with both shades, here I've opted for my chunky grey roll neck jumper.  It's a cropped style and works really well with the detail on the top of my trousers, you can clearly see the button fastening making them spot on for the challenge.  They have a half elastic waistband giving them maximum comfort. and a wide leg fashion which looks great over trainers and also boots.  Sandals would be a great choice, when the weather improves, for a relaxed casual beach vibe.

I mentioned above that trainers would be a great look and that's what I chose to wear with this look.  These are white with a fancy padded pattern over them.  White trainers are simply everywhere and are many people's wardrobe staple and I hold my hands up to having about three pairs of white ones and about four other coloured pairs.  Are you part of the white-trainer-brigade?

Anna - Anna's Island Style picked this pretty blouse complete with customised applique addition that compliments the assorted buttons beautifully.

Emma - Style Splash opted for a stunning pink trousers suit with a darling button blouse to complete the look.  You really have this one buttoned up Emma!

Hilda went for this lovely pale blue edged jacket with dear little buttons that look very pretty and feminine.  She's paired it over dark denim jeans for a nice relaxed looked, another one to copy I think! See the full story on Hilda's blog  Over The Hilda.

Gail - Is This Mutton also shopped her wardrobe and found this fancy jumper with striking buttons on the shoulder.  I'm also loving the black and white with orange, one combination I can't wait to try!

Thanks so much for joining us today, we come together on the last Monday of each month and you can view some previous tasks we've tackled here, here and here.

See you on Thursday for the first post of March and I can sense Spring will be in the air.
Catch you then and do have a super weekend my friends.
Cheerio for now. X

  3. I love this outfit, Jacqui! It's funny how what seems one color in one light is a completely different color in other light! I'm slowly coming round to the white trainers. They just seem so "clunky" to me! But, I just need to get used to them!
