How Do Alice + Olivia Sizes Run?

According to reviews from different shopping sites like Shopbop, certain clothing items like their dresses are typically expected to fit true to size. Other clothing items such as pants sold by Alice + Olivia have been noted to run larger than true size according to several reviews.
How to Size Alice + Olivia Dresses.
Because Alice + Olivia dresses have been reported to be true to size, you will be able to accurately use your true measurements when looking for the right size. Already own an Alice + Olivia dress but not sure of it’s size? Check out a couple steps as to how you can measure it on your own.
Chest Measurement.
To measure from the side seam to the side seam of the dress, lay the tape under the armhole. When it comes to fitting a bust or chest size garment, the tape should be placed close to the area under the garment's armhole.
This measure will ensure that the garment's size is accurately represented in the bust or chest area.
It is also important to measure from the front to the side seam of the garment to get an accurate size. Keep in mind that the tape should not be pulled too loosely or tightly. If you want to make sure that your dress fits properly, you should finally measure your torso length.
Waist Measurement.
The narrowest portion of the waist is located above the navel area. It's the area where the waist is the smallest. To make it easier to sew, lay the tape at the side and directly at the waist.
After identifying this point, lay the measuring tape on the side and across the waist of the garment. Make sure that it's parallel to the ground and that it's not pulled too loosely or tightly, this will help ensure the accurate measurement.
Hip Measurement.
To properly measure the hip, lay the tape about 7 to 9 inches below the waistline. Then, measure from the hip line to the side.
To measure your hip size correctly, wrap a tape measure around the circumference of the hip and take note of its measurements in centimeters or inches. Make sure that you measure across the full length of the hip.
Flare Measurement.
The width of your dress's bottom is referred to as flare, and it usually goes around the hem. Begin by laying flat and measuring from the side seam to the side seam of your garment. This will allow you to determine the flare's width. Make sure to keep the tape level while measuring to ensure that the number is accurate.
Strap-to-hem Measurement.
The measurement for the strap-to-hem is taken from the top portion of the shoulder to the hem of your skirt or dress. It ends at the bottom. This measurement will allow you to determine the length of your garment overall. To make an accurate measurement, drape a measuring tape over the shoulder and run it down to where you want it to end. Make sure that both the tape and fabric are clean and wrinkle-free before taking this measurement.
Waist-to-hem Measurement.
The measurement of the waist-to-hem of a dress is the length from its top waistband to its bottom hem. To measure this, lay a tape measure across the seam of your garment and measure straight down until you can see the end of your dress or skirt's hem. This will allow you to determine the length of the garment from one point to another.

How to Size Alice + Olivia Jeans.
As noted in several reviews of Alice + Olivia jeans, you should expect them to run a little larger to true size. Not sure what your exact measurements are for jeans? Find a pair you already own that fits well, and follow these next steps:
- To measure the waist, lay the jeans flat on the hard surface and use your measuring tape. Make sure that the button is not resting below the back portion of the waist. Then, double the number for the waist measurement. This number should be taken into account depending on the rise, as it varies.
- The measurement of the inseam is the distance from the center of the waist to the ankle hem. To determine the thigh's width, take a measurement below the belt's crotch seam and double it.
- The last measurement that you need to make is the rise. To get the most accurate result, pull the waist tightly after taking this measurement. The normal range for mid-rise is between eight and nine inches, while high-rise is usually between nine and 10 inches.
What are Fashion Bloggers Wearing?
Check out a couple influential fashion bloggers who have done some reviews on clothing items from Alice + Olivia.
The Primpy Sheep Fashion Blog.
Familiar at all with The Primpy Sheep fashion blog? With over 10,000 followers on Instagram, Vanessa Ulrich is a successful fashion, style, and travel blogger.
As part of a fun summer photoshoot, Vanessa incorporated the saba top by Alice + Olivia into the pictures. Light, summer-themed details were incorporated, with a unique take on each person involved with the shoot. Vanessa noted that the most beautiful thing about this top was its intricate floral embroidery and the multiple beads and sequins it featured. The combination of these materials made it seem like real flowers were blooming all around it.

Some other accessories to go with the top can include a pair of white high waisted jeans, and a classic pair of wedges.
That Chic Fashion Blog.
Another blogger from Chicago did a review on the dresses, and mentioned some of the 50s and 70s style themes that were pulled off well.

"There seemed to be a lot of ’70s influences, too. This included handkerchief dresses; high-waisted looks with wide pant-legs etc. etc. with many inspired by her mother’s wardrobe from the era! However, the 50’s were also beautifully incorporated this season, as the collection had it’s share of ’50s-style tea dresses that gave the looks a retro-glamor feel, and intricate beaded gowns were included as well".

ReplyDeletejess xx
Thanks so much for stopping by Jess, you are so kind. Yes it's similar to Poshmark I think. x
DeleteI love your top, the pattern is gorgeous! I've bought quite a few things on Vinted and have always been very pleased with my purchases, except for my most recent one. I bought a long cardigan and realised after I'd left positive feedback that it has a small hole. There's nothing they can do now so I'll have to try to fix it.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the helpful tips on sizing I always refer to that when I’m shopping online especially if it’s a brand I’ve never tried before. I’m a huge fan of faux leather also!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great outfit on you! Those are wonderful pants and the top is so nice with them :) Sadly faux leather doesn't really survive long in the heat and humidity here :(
