Wow March, doesn't that mean Spring should arrive soon?
Life remains as hectic as ever for Mummabstylish. Gym classes, dance classes, watching the grand-kids and general life leaves me with little time to get blogging and find out what you've all been doing. I'd love you to share your life style on my link up below and look forward to seeing what you got up to over the past week too.
So I've still not managed to get into town to see the new styles, but I have purchased a couple of pieces online. Two dresses and a pretty blouse have made an appearance in my wardrobe, but the jury is still out as to whether I keep them or not! I've a wedding in June so one of them was a possibility, however it's a long sleeved maxi that has loads of fabric on a really wide skirt, it's also a heavy satin and so all things considered I fear it will be way too hot for me to wear. I'm going to share it on the blog soon, so you can let me know your thoughts.
Let's get back to today's look, I've been wearing jeans mostly throughout the Winter, but with slightly better weather, although still cold, I donned this look earlier in the week for a trip into my local town to run a couple of errands. The gilet is new and was kindly gifted to me from Tilletts Clothing as were the jeans with pearl embellishments on that I featured on the blog last week.
Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
When the weather gets a bit warmer what's a brilliant style to wear? A gilet of course. In case you're not sure what a gilet is, it's a sleeveless jacket that can come in many guises. There's lots of different styles, all that do the same job. Mine's a puffa style, but I've seen teddy bear fabric, quilted, short furry, faux suede some with hoods too, and there's endless ways to wear them.
I wore this out the other day and have to admit to nearly freezing in it. I was a tad too eager to wear it and after rushing around indoors where the heating was on, I drove into town to do a couple of jobs in the bank - yes once out in the biting wind and cold temperatures I realised I hadn't thought it through properly. But to be fair, I think it looks brilliant anyway, so it was worth feeling cold and I know when the temperatures improve this will be a frequent addition for my outfits, especially with jeans.
Thank you to each and everyone who's supporting my journey, I can't tell you how much it means to me! Do keep stopping by I also love to see what you've been doing and wearing.
The Darcie* is a 3/4 style that fits just above the knee. It's nicely padded with a ample hood which has a ribbon tie.
Deep pockets feature either side and it has a sturdy zip to keep out the cold wind, I appreciated this the other day I can tell you!
Available in two other colour ways, maybe the black would suit you better or even the lipstick pink - now isn't that a fabulous name for a colour!
You've seen the wide leg trousers before, they're from M & S and this store always have palazzo styles on offer. I find this the most flattering shape for me and feel really glam when I style them. You can see more of this look here with a red blazer, here with pink and grey and here feeling confident in pink.

The chunky cable jumper has been a significant addition to my jumper pile too. I've worn this tan beauty quite a lot since buying it in the Mango sale last year. It's a colour that works well & I class it as a neutral so it goes with lots I already have, I prefer to wear it with jeans or these elegant trousers from M & S.

ReplyDeleteMy pleasure Gail, glad you like it Hun. x
DeleteIt's been so hot here I have not been able to wear jackets or sweaters. I really like your outfit, the neutral colors and textures are so pretty - I love layering like that!

I'm so envious Kellyann! Wishing for hotter weather to arrive. x

ReplyDeleteJill - Doused in Pink
Thanks so much Jill, really pleased with my choice. x
DeleteI love the colors in this outfit! And the outfit looks like it would keep you warm on most days (that icy wind is terrible). The designs in the sweater or so pretty. Wonderful!

Thanks Michelle, it's a nice look that I feel so comfortable in. Yes so cold, hate it! x
DeleteI've starting wearing more and more dresses and I think next week, I will do a lot of skirts outfits. Right now I am wearing my joggers since I hadn't worn them in a while. I like this monochromatic look.

Good to hear Mireille, I love to wear dresses and skirts, but sometimes the weather isn't right for them. x
DeleteLovely gilet. I'll bet it's super to wear it, stylish and wonderfully warm. I'm curious about the dress now.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fab look, Jacqui! I love the monochromatic aspect and all the textures. It's just so cool! Thanks for the link party, too! We've started Traffic Jam Weekend link party back up if you'd like to link!

This is a marvelous look, Jacqui. A gilet or vest like yours is a brilliant choice for an outer layer when it's a bit too warm to wear a full on jacket and yet a bit too chilly to go without something over your sweater.

Loving these creamy neutrals on you—so classic and chic!

I love your vest it looks fabulous on you!
ReplyDeleteAlso your template is lovely! I thought it was WP at first! I have my blog on blogger and just paid for a new template and the person selling the template installed it and completely messed up my site! I had to pay my tech person to fix it all and the template does not look near as good as yours!
I love this mix of warm neutrals, it's a very chic ensemble. I've been caught out a couple of times thinking the weather is mild - only to discover there's a biting cold wind!
