Styling a Vest Top with Wide Leg Trousers - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hello and welcome my friends.
What have you been up to since we last connected?

Not much going on for Mummab at the moment, back to normal with the kids and I've enjoyed seeing them since they came back.  The weather is still pants and quite cold at times and as you can see my today's outfit I've resorted to warmer clothes!

I wore this yesterday.  You see I've wanted to try this style for a while as I've noticed the trend of wearing a waist coat over trousers.  Having not got a waistcoat (yet) I thought this vest top would be a brilliant replacement, so today that's what I'm sharing.

I must tell you about my afternoon first, having been to the gym and then out helping hubby collecting something (I got lunch out of it too), I came home to shower and get ready for some photos, a reel and to enjoy the evening.  I've recently had my eyelash line top up so haven't been able to wear mascara, and yesterday I put all my makeup on with excitement, I would see the full finish of the procedure, which I might add looked amazing.  So I was all set to start my reel when I bent down and managed to get a great long hair in my eye.  It was right across it and no matter how I tried I couldn't get rid of it.  My eyes were streaming and it literally hurt like hell - who'd think a small hair could hurt so much more that an eyelash.  Well eventually I managed to ease it out with a piece of tissue, but the makeup was all smeared down my cheeks and the mascara had blackened my eye from rubbing and watering, I looked a right state and had to reapply everything!  Anyway I sorted myself out and got these super shots ... eventually lol!

I'm not a full fashion follower but I generally like to dip in and out or tweak things to suit my style.  I've been seeing lots of ladies wearing waistcoats and have been thinking about joining on the trend.  Until I find one I thought I would try my vest top instead.

Waistcoats have made a big comeback recently and can not only be worn alone but with layers too!
I thought my vest top would be a good substitute so popped it over my trousers.  I worried the bare arms wouldn't look right, but looking at the pictures I happy to say that it looks great.  This one is a good style as it's ribbed which means it will cinch in on the waistband giving a more curvy silhouette which is so much more feminine.  I've got a couple that don't have that hem finish and just hang, so tend to wear them with straighter trousers like my jeans.

I bought the cable patterned vest top on my trip to Scotland many months ago and have only worn it over a shirt or jumper before.  It did the job, so I'll be on the lookout for a lightweight waistcoat to wear for Summer fun when the weather gets and stays warmer .. lol!
I completed my outfit with a simple toned cream chain necklace & my statement bag which brings both black and cream together in the hound-tooth design.  I added an extra clash with a silky patterned scarf tied around the handles, nice to put a personal stamp on an outfit this way.

I have to admit I love these trousers and have had them years.  They are only just starting to look their age, so I'll be looking for a replacement, but I'm sure they'll be a hard act to follow.  I love wearing palazzo styles and find them the best enhancer for my pear shape - is it a look you wear?

  3. I feel your pain having a hair in the eye - isn't it crazy how something so small can feel like a dagger in the eye? Love the sweater vest from Scotland!

  4. I have neither a sweater vest nor a waistcoat vest but would like to thrift one of each (in a light tan or ivory I think) so I will be on the lookout this fall. Hoping people will be donating if they tried the trend and did not like it! This looks lovely on you and I really like your vest. The knit pattern is very pretty.
