A walk in the woods - #Chicandstylish #Linkup

How’s your world turning?

I’ve been enjoying the last few days of sunny weather, doesn’t it make such a lovely change. Everything is so much rosier. I was walking to the gym yesterday and was delighted to have to warm morning sun on my skin whilst listening to the birds chirp and gazing at the flowers as I passed by. Isn’t it such a special time when there’s not many people about! I love early mornings in the sun. What’s your best thing you like about Summer?

On Tuesday I went with some of the kids & grandkids to a local woodland, Oare Gunpowder Mill is about a half hours drive from me and is an idyllic walk in woodland with lakes surrounding it, it’s about an hours circular walk and let’s the kids explore all the little nooks and crannies, learn about what it was used for & let off some steam.  As you can imagine they loved it all. We saw fish, squirrels, various dragon flies, picked and ate blackberries and fed the ducks (some oats) we even made friends with a three legged dog! I took some sweets, but to be fair they were too interested in their surroundings so didn’t have many … yeah shocked! 😳 

I’d already run a couple of errands before leaving so swapped my tan sandals for these cream flats which was much more suited for the terrain which, fortunately was mostly dry.  I paired them with an old chambray shirt dress. I’ve had this one hanging up for a good few years, and toyed with putting it for sale on Vinted, but it’s getting another airing and another wash before I decide again … lol!

Do you like a chambray dress?  I love the softer feel of the denim alternative, it's lighter to wear, so makes it the perfect style to don in Summer.  Team it with a basket bag or crochet cross-body and your good for any number of outings, and this version also looks good left open as a jacket! Paired it with my casual sandals so my dress (similar) looks right at home for ambling around the woods, but would be just as nice for lunch with the girls!  Mine is from Matalan a few years ago, but as you can see the classic style never dates and looks like new.  I did have to repair a little tear in the seam but it's still as good as new.

I've included a few photos from my walk, the views and setting was lovely, very peaceful (most of the time) and the sun painted a lovely backdrop, especially by the lake. X

Watching the fish and dragonflies whilst picking the blackberries.  That evening my son was inspired to cook a delicious apple and blackberry crumble (try this recipe book) after eating them, alas I didn't have any!
