Hope your weekend went well.
What did you get up to? I spent a bit of Saturday working on an upcoming project, which worked out okay & Saturday night after watching the rugby I had a curry and watched a film.
Sunday morning I went with my daughter and her family to watch my granddaughter play football in a little village I grew up in! With the league situation here the matches end up being quite far away so journeys of about an hour away are sometimes normal! It was nice to reminisce and see how the area had changed over the past 50 years!! Yes it was that long ago!
I had breakfast after the football in the local pub, it was the first time I’d stepped foot in The Six Bells but it was right next door to the church I loved going to the Harvest Festival service and the old school house where I went to the youth club! I’ve got so many memories of my young life there, some very obscure, lots prominent but ask me what I did earlier today I don’t have a clue! 😂
I must share the results of the match, 3-3 and my granddaughter scored a hat trick - very proud nanny indeed. 🩷
Now shall we get down to today’s post? It’s the last Monday of February, so time to turn our attention to my four colleagues and me for the Style Not Age challenge …
Put a Bow on it!
Nothing new here and everything shopped from my wardrobe. Anyone else realise when styling for a particular challenge how much stuff they have? I’ve got so much sprawling from all my drawers and cupboards and I really do need to go through them again to filter some of my clothes. I’m such a hoarder, so find it hard to clear clothes and clutter and have to put my determined head on when doing any clearing and sorting. I’ll get myself into gear and put a few bits on Vinted very soon, I pinky promise!
Emma picked the challenge this month and I’d wanted to find a jumper or top with bows over it. Alas I didn’t find what I wanted so turned to my wardrobe, finding this long line shirt that’s got a big bow on the front!
So as I mentioned earlier there’s nothing new here and you’ve most certainly seen these pieces before.
The culottes are a great length especially for Spring when boots sit comfortably under them but still feel cosy. They used to have big buttons on the front, kind of like a sailor style but I removed the bold tortoise shell decoration as I never really liked them! You can see what they looked like here and here.
I bought the H&M shirt to wear over some cream skinny jeans ages ago and liked the voluminous shape over narrow trousers, it’s oversized so very big on me and I reckon I could have gotten away with a smaller size. The snake-print design is muted shades of cream and beige so that works well with neutrals, washed denim and dark shades alike. Obviously the most important bit for me is the tie on the front, it’s a nice statement don’t you think? Have a look at this one similar from Sosandar.
It’s not quite jacket season just yet, but I wanted to share how this outfit will look when Spring finally makes an appearance, the boxy jacket is tweed and gives off Chanel vibes (similar here). The bold buttons make it look expensive and shows off the tie detail nicely.
I wanted to keep the shades similar so opted for mink boots, these are called Marlene and come from Lotus Shoes, they have a cute heel and a slim fit which finish mid calf so are just perfect for midi skirts and culotte
styles like mine. 🤍
Let’s take a peek at what my four fellow bloggers wore for the challenge.
Firstly shall we see what Emma picked. It was her turn this month and I loved she opted for something on trend.
See more of her outfit on the blog Style Splash.
Anna - Anna’s Island Style went for this amazing outfit. Like me, Anna shopped her wardrobe. Her leopard print cardigan shows off her charity shop statement shirt that’s not only got statement pussy bow tie but flouncy cuffs too!
Hilda from Over the Hilda went for a striking red wrap top. This is most definitely one I’d wear, so maybe you can chuck it my way when you’re done with it Hilda. X

Finally Gail’s take on the challenge was a stunner of purple & coral? Find out all the details over on Gail’s blog Is This Mutton?
Thank you so much for joining me today, let me know what you think of our looks today.
See you on Thursday for the brand new Chicandstylish Linkup.
Bye for now. X

DeleteThis neutral look is so beautiful, Jacqui! And, the bow in the middle of the blouse is so unexpected. It sounds like you had a wonderful time not only watching your granddaughter but also having a chance to visit your old hometown.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
