Style not Age share Festival Finery

Morning my friends.
How’s your world going?

Another jam packed week!
Out on Friday afternoon for my friend’s 60th birthday celebration, you remember the weekend away to Benenden well it was for her birthday and she’d hired a beach hut in Whitstable. It was lovely to sit and chat to some of our mutual friends, meet some of her school friends (anyone else have friends who tell you about their other friends so you feel like you know them?) & catch up with friends you only meet at certain times. She’d bought some nibbles and soft drinks along with some fizz and cocktails. I only had one glass of Prosecco because I was driving and wanted to go to my ballroom class! Today’s post features the dress I wore, do let me know your thoughts.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

As it's the last Monday in July (how) it's the time for the ladies of Style not Age to come together and style outfits for our monthly challenge.  This month's choice fell into the lap of Emma and she came up with the idea of Festival Finery.

July and August are typical months for festival fun and we all like to take inspiration from festival go-ers whether it's family and friends going, celebrities photographed in papers or magazines or watching the revellers on telly.  I've only ever been to one festival back in 1996.  It was to V festival and headlining was Paul Weller.  I didn't stay even though it was a 2 day event, but had lots of fun watching all the bands, and tasting all the different foods that surrounded the stages. Festivals are truly magical aren't they!  It was brilliant weather, not too hot and definitely no rain, that was a big bonus as I wore shorts, tee shirt and sandals!

If I was going to another festival I'd been wearing something similar to this look as I'm so much more comfortable in a dress, this one would be perfect as it's cool enough to wear a little denim jacket over the top, but if it's sunny the sleeveless style is just right.  For lounging on the grass I think a fuller skirt is spot on and I'd be able to get up in a more elegant manor ... lol!

This crinkle dress * is the perfect attire for music festivals when a cool look goes a long way to setting the tone for a fab night of fun and dancing.  I love the gypsy style layers which have a contrasting crochet lace detail separating each layer.  This also creates a lovely neckline which got lots of lovely compliments when I wore it last Friday!

Sizes run true so you can happily go with your usual size and the options available go from a size 8 - 22!
This fabric which is a crinkle look will travel well and does not crease so this would be an ideal choice for summer holidays and weekends away, this one will be included in my case for Sicily for sure.

On this rear view you can see the elastic waist which is the full width of the skirt, it gives a lovely shape without being too tight and fitted.  The lace bust detail is great too, flattering and very subtle.

It's just a wow dress isn't it! My festival vibe is carried through with my lace up espadrilles and cream cross-body bag - we need our hands free for dancing and holding drinks don't we ladies! 😆

So lets have a peek at what my friends chose for the challenge.

First up is Gail. Anything Denim is a real winner for open air concerts and Gail's look is just right and features a jean jacket with colourful scarf and boots.  Do have a look at the whole look on her blog Is This Mutton?

Now it's Hilda's turn, you can find out all the details of her look on the blog Over The Hilda.  I'm loving this statement skirt but the hat really does scream festival doesn't it!

Emma would look right at home at Glastonbury or Coachella!  Leopard print takes top spot for festival finery in my opinion, what do you think?  Catch all the gossip on Style Splash.

Finally last up is Anna - Anna's Island Style.   Anna really does look the part with her colourful outfit and matching floral hairband.  She had fun Tresco fete which was the nearest she got to a music festival!  Do stop by to read all about her outfit.

Thanks very much for your support, good to have you join in.
Until next month have a super time.
Bye, bye. X
