All okay?
It’s been a busy week I’ve been out with friends twice!
On Tuesday I met a friend for lunch and we had lots to chat about as I’d not seen her since March! We went somewhere different and enjoyed some yummy food and a cheeky glass in a local venue the Hotel Continental. The weather was pants with wind and rain more in keeping with Autumn! Are we ever going to have nice weather to stay?
I devoured a prawn and Marie Rose baguette along with salad and chips (nice thin chips that were extremely crunchy with a perfect amount of salt) and yes I ate it all! I did wear rather an inappropriate outfit though, my flip flops and white trousers were very much out of place and I should really have opted for boots and jeans with a rain coat to top it off! (It was pouring)
Wednesday I went with three friends for afternoon tea, we went to Hempstead House which is about 1/2 hour drive from me. The venue was stunning, very chintzy with swags and tails and chandeliers. We were the only customers so very much had the room to ourselves. It was good to chat and put the world to rights over a tasty Afternoon Tea along with a big pot of tea each! It was for my friend’s 60th birthday, so it was lovely to elongate the celebrations as her birthday was earlier on in the year.
I’m afraid I didn’t get a full length photo of what I wore for lunch, but here’s the bright yellow top that complimented my white trousers.
Whitstable, my local town is filled with exciting and fun cafe’s and restaurants and you might remember my visits to Wheelers and Around the Clock in previous years.
I met up with a friend on Tuesday and after trying a different venue (parking was a problem) she suggested the hotel over-looking the estuary in town. Parking wasn’t an issue there was parking opposite with a paying machine nearby. We hurried into the friendly foyer and were greeted and taken to a rustic little table that overlooked the beach through the big glass front and at the back of the room was the kitchen area. I love a restaurant like that, nothing better than seeing a clean kitchen with a tidy chef preparing the food.
Knowing I’d be eating later I settled on a baguette filled with prawns and rose MarĂ sauce. It came with a small side salad and frites, the best I’ve eaten in ages. I waged this down with an appetising white wine spritzer with soda. The only thing missing was the sunshine, but we were warm enough inside out of the wind and rain.
Chatting all afternoon we ventured back into the rain to return home, for me to prepare the dinner happy knowing I’d not eaten too much and needing another cheeky glass of wine!
Can you see my exquisite earrings? I’m going to share these in more detail next week my friends, they’re worth stopping back for. X

I love reading your blog! And I love anything about Britain! We are thinking of traveling to London next year. And then branching out to visit a typical British village on the train. What would your recommendations be to visit? Probably not more than an hour or two from London. I love almost all of the clothing you wear! I don't wear dresses at all so it is nice to see what someone else wears!
ReplyDeleteSo very kind. Thank you x my little town Whitstable is on the coast and about an hour from London would be perfect for you. Otherwise my recent post featuring Benenden is lovely but more than an hour from London I think. Let me know if you need more help x J
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to meet up and catch up with friends! Yes, I have two friends who are still teaching, but their summers are so busy. We have a difficult time finding a time for all three of us to meet. Thanks so much for the feature! I really appreciate it. And, thanks for this week's link up!
