Mixing a Slinky Skirt with a Casual Tee!

Hello and thanks for joining me today.
Here’s one I made earlier!

I’m away for a couple of days visiting my uncle in Cornwall as it’s his birthday. I’ve come down with my mum and sister on a 5 hour car ride to stay in a local-to-him hotel which is in Liskerd, I’ll share on IG stories what I get up to.

It’s been a worry as to what to pack as the weather has been all over the show again, so as we’re driving I’ve packed to cover all eventualities … lol. I’ve got four dresses, and some wide leg trousers, sandals and trainers along with my new jean jacket. Please do have a look so you can see my new pieces.

Ballroom on Friday was wonderful, I’ve really nailed the waltz routine and am “banana-ing” rather well even though I say it myself.  I really wished I’d learnt years ago! To be fair I love any kind of dancing and have a sense of dance that comes naturally, although some of the new faster styles are a bit too faster for me, I’ll leave that to the young ones - lol.

Today I thought I'd show a more younger style that's trending at the moment.  I think it looks great, but you'll have to let me know your thoughts.  Is this a style you'd wear?

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

Styles now-a-days can be made up of all sorts of fashions, textiles and designs - mixing silk with knitwear looks right at home as does slinky evening pieces teamed casually for daytime wear.
I started today's outfit off with this silky plisse skirt. *  I love this bold shade of orange and would usually have worn it with a matching top, maybe with a floral or abstract pattern over it.  I'd seen lots of girls wearing Tee shirts with dressy skirts like this, so decided to give it a try.  I think it works brilliantly and am itching to wear similar again - just need to up my graphic Tee shirt game as I only have two in my drawers.
The skirt comes up a bit big so I’ve sized down. You’ll be pleased to hear this plissé beauty is now reduced to under £25!

This white Tee has an in-your-face design quite literally!  I picked it up in Zara a few years ago, it was just staring at me so I had to buy it!  I've worn it loads of times since, normally with jeans but adore the look I've created here.

The white trainers are another old faithful and again I'd usually wear them with trousers, but over the past few years, I've enjoyed wearing trainers with dresses and skirts.  They bring a much likened younger feel to my outfits, so I hope they're here to stay!

Final addition was my basket bag.  Again I wanted to mix textures, it actually fits in nicely.  So do have a go at mixing things up with your outfits, it's nice to try different things and you never know you might like them!

Good to have you here, thanks so much for your support.
Cheerio my friends. X

  1. Your mix of textures and styles in this outfit is on point! The bold orange plissé skirt paired with the graphic tee adds such a fun, youthful vibe, and the trainers really pull it all together. I love how you’re embracing new trends while keeping it comfortable and true to your style. Enjoy your time in Cornwall, and can’t wait to see more on your IG stories!
