Good morning everyone.
Hope you’re well.
I’m actually shocked at the fact it’s October tomorrow … October how did that happen! I’ve even spotted some Xmas decorations in my local Sainsbury’s along with mince pies and Christmas puddings, it’ll be fairy lights and tinsel before we know it! That being said I need to order my turkeys soon. We order from a local turkey farm and I have to say they are always delicious. One year our turkey had a pretty pinkish tinge, this was a result of them being fed on the remnants of butternut squash in the surrounding fields.
I went to a lovely family event yesterday, it was my niece’s daughter’s christening and it was lovely to join all the family for a good old catch up! It was held in the church she got married in and then at a local pub. Obviously I enjoyed a couple of glasses of fizz along with some tasty party food - anyone else love party food? I always end up eating too much only seconded by eating too much cake!
Our challenge this month was set by Gail, she liked the idea suggested by Hilda so this month we’re styling our
Secondhand September outfits.
I’d actually got another outfit ready and had photos taken but there was a change around of prompt ideas which sent me back to the drawing board. I ended up popping into Canterbury earlier this week and came home with this charming fine knitted dress from Monsoon. It cost a pricely sum of £6! I pictured this glamorous dress with heels and statement necklace and would have wanted it a bit longer if I’m honest but I think it’s turned out quite nice really and just how I wanted it to look. 🖤
The Monsoon LBD boasts a sexy see through panel running around the hem and sleeve (sorry didn’t get shots without the jacket) and feels amazing on. It’s that heavy knit that drapes beautifully and I can’t see why anyone would want to get rid of it! It’s has a slight a line feel which is very flattering on me. I always pop a little slip under it and am thinking about getting another full slip as the ones I have a basically too long but work well with most of my dresses especially in the winter when another layer is welcomed.
For any avid followers you the jacket might ring a bell. It’s secondhand but in the fact that it was my eldest daughters and she decided to part with it so I nabbed it for myself. You can see how old it is by having a peak at this post where I featured it for another challenge, proving classic styles really don’t date!
My gold ball necklace is a favourite of mine, my sister in law bought it for me for my birthday and I’ve worn and worn it so much. It’s just such a statement look, and looks right at home with lots of different dresses and tops.
Now did you spot my mules? I love them but they aren’t the most comfortable as they’re quite high! Definitely a car to bar shoe, but don’t they look super and make my legs look a big longer .. lol!
Now it’s my four friends turn to wow you with their second time around outfits, do let us know what you think and do you shop in charity or vintage shops?
Gail’s outfit based around the jumper and pinafore that were both bought second hand. The colours are just right for this transitional period when the surroundings will compliment the look nicely. See more about Gail’s look over on Is This Mutton?
Emma picked this stunner, which looks like a dress is made up from a charity shop top from Maison Scotch and a skirt she borrowed and kept from her mum! Do head over to Style Splash to find out all the details.
Hilda picked this handsome jacket which only cost €50’s. It looks excellent with her jeans and tee shirt ensemble - such a classic style that ALWAYS works. See more from
Hilda on her blog Over the Hilda.
Anna - Anna’s Island Style picked this glorious riot of flowers which looks just right for Autumn as she’s paired it with bright yellow shoes which will brighten up the dullest Autumnal day!
Many thanks for joining me and the girls today. We love having you here and hope we gave you some inspiration to browse your local secondhand and vintage shops.
See you on Thursday for the Chic & Stylish linkup.
Until then bye bye. X
These heeled mules are by so far one of the sexiest shoes you can wear. The arch given to your delicious feet is just superb. Once again Jacqui, high heels are made for you, and for those who love them of course. Last thing, please don't change anything because you are totally desirable with above-the-knee outfits.
ReplyDeleteThe dress was a great find! It looks very chic with the jacket.

This is such a chic outfit, Jacqui! I love the neutral shoes with it as they pull those colors from your jacket! Really very cool!
