Hope it’s going well for you all.
Hasn’t the weather been funny? Just can’t seem to make its mind up. I’m going out in jeans and a jumper or jacket and having to take layers off by the afternoon and sometimes it’s the opposite, starting off in lightweight clothes and having to put a jumper on to warm up! I’m not sure I’m fond of this in-between time!
I’ve worked hard over the past few days, leaving little time to get blog posts, photos and social media sorted, you see I’ve been painting at my daughter’s house. Everything is being painted white and I’ve been doing what I can which has been quite tiring - but I love it. You start with a mist coat, which is half paint half water and I’ve been covered nearly head to foot with the stuff, it’s so sloppy (if you’ve ever done this before you’ll know what I’m talking about)! Upstairs is almost ready for carpets, so moving in date is edging nearer although I’m not sure they’ll be in before the baby arrives … in November!! I’ll keep you posted as to how that goes my friends.
So let’s talk burgundy, are you a fan? I had a jumper a few years ago but that went to charity and because it was the only thing that matched this grey blazer I’ve hardly ever worn it! Well that changed when I came home with this skinny rib top from Sicily. 🍇
… it was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment purchase, the ones we make without giving any thought to what it would be worn with!!
The jumper came from a store called OVS in Savoca, it’s an Italian brand that I bought a cute shirt with a frilly neck and cuff from when I went to Venice. It’s a reasonably priced shop as the jumper cost under £30 (similar), so I bought a chunky necklace from them too - I’ll show you that soon.
So yes it’s Jean season now. I’m going to try to not put them all the time, but they’re just so easy to wear when the weather is cooler aren’t they! I’ve got so many pairs hanging in my wardrobe and really need to sort through them as lots either don’t fit or aren’t flattering on me anymore. The wide leg styles are my favourites and I’ve got three pairs so far but have my eye on another pair with a wide turn up in F & F - as they say “watch this space my friends”. Mine are from M & S earlier this year, they’re a darker wash that looks nice with colours like burgundy, brown and navy. M&S offer different lengths so I picked this shorter length which is perfect for trainers and flats. Talking of trainers did you notice my Adidas Samba’s? I love them! They are so flippin’ comfy and look so good on. I really feel quite trendy in mine and now I’ve got these I want more colours … lol!
So I told you I bought the jumper to wear with this blazer. I have to be honest and let you know I bought the grey blazer, that has a burgundy stripe running through it, from Peacocks, it was part of the Louise Rednapp collection and it was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment purchase, the ones we make without giving any thought to what it would be worn with!! lol I know! Anyway I retrieved it from the charity and Vinted pile vowing to find something to wear it with … hey presto the skinny rib top was the winning piece - do let me know if you like my look in the comments box. ⬇️⬇️
I grabbed the only bag I knew would look good with this and it just so happens it’s my youngest daughters’ it’s a cute little bag with gold hardware and a long gold strap to wear it on the shoulder, but I like using it as a clutch bag.

That is a good outfit! I think that blazer also would look great with black.... of course. Good thing you saved it! How is everything going with the new build?
ReplyDeleteLovely styling Jacqui, burgundy is very trendy at the moment x
ReplyDeleteI do love that combo of a jacket and jeans but burgundy would not be my first choice - it suits you very well though. Penny https://frugalfashionshopper.co.uk
ReplyDeleteThank you for the feature, Jacqui. It was my first post after a long break and it feels nice to be back. I love your burgundy jumper, such a rich colour looks great against your red blazer. I also gravitate towards jeans when the weather begins to cool. Anna
ReplyDeleteI love the blazer!

You look FABULOUS! Our weather has been all over the place lately too; the other day I was so sweaty so I had to change mid-day.
ReplyDeleteI always love a blazer and jeans combo! Love the colors in your blazer! Such a great look!

What a great casual look! Today I am wearing something a little similar with a blazer, tank, joggers and trainers! I love the burgundy and now have several pieces in that color. I just need the weather to stay cool to wear them. It was perfect fall last week and warmed up this week. Looks like next week is back to fall!

I'm definitely a fan of burgundy—anything that reminds me of wine is a good thing! ;)

Love your blazer! So chic!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a gorgeous look, Jacqui! I think the burgundy top really stands out against the plaid of your blazer. I'm looking for a neutral pair of Sambas myself. Thanks for the link up!

I love burgundy and the shape of that jacket. Looks great with jeans too! OHH! So exciting about the painting at your daughter's house. White is very much in for paint again and it is so easy to decorate! My daughter's bday is in November and it is such a great bday month!
