Christmas Wreath Making - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning all.
Sorry it’s a late post today, another week that just ran away from me!

The house is looking very festive and I’ve nearly finished adding to my decs. Are you like me and have to buy a new decoration or two when you see them?

On Tuesday I went to the pantomime. We’d booked it ages ago and it was nice to have the evening finally arrive and even nicer that I’d already paid. The kids loved it and the excitement in their faces was magical. Calling out, singing and getting involved is the name of the game for watching a pantomime and they certainly did all that, (as I did too) 🤭 … oh yes I did!

Earlier this morning I went to my friend’s house for Christmas wreath making. She’s a brilliant teacher and has a knack for making things look beautiful, you can see how it went on my stories on IG.

Have you ever tried making a wreath? It’s becoming quite a popular thing to do on the run up to Christmas. Groups of ladies (and some men) get together to have a try at making a Christmas wreath along with having a cuppa and a mince pie or maybe even a hot chocolate with a cheeky Baileys in it!
Let me tell you about my morning. I went to my best friend’s house along with my three daughters and my mum to do Christmas wreath making. I have to say I was excited to go again after my attempt last year and had just as much fun! My two daughters who didn’t go last year came with us and I knew they were dubious as to whether or not they’d like it - after a fun morning and seeing their finished wreathes they both said they loved it! Emily my middle daughter came as did my mum and even though they’d both done it before had just as much fun and produced some beautiful displays.

You start with a circular base and some twine and add fresh moss to the frame securing it with the thin wire which you wind round and round.

I didn’t get many photos but there were loads of buckets and boxes of all kinds of foliage including holly, evergreen trimmings, dried flowers like hydrangeas, thistles, and all sorts of stems that can be foraged in the woods or found in the garden. She also had pine cones, seeds, dried orange slices, ribbons, berries and even miniature wrapped boxes & disco balls! Sophie had some sparkly disco balls on hers which looked brilliant.

We all had such a fantastic morning and all agreed we wanted to do it again next year, maybe in the evening so they’re would be more time (the girls had to collect the kids from pre-school), and have a couple of drinks too.
If you get the chance to try wreathing making do give it a go, it’s such a fun experience and was both interesting and entertaining.

As we were sort of outside I dressed in layers with a long sleeve tee shirt/jumper under a long sleeved shirt dress that I shared back in August. I also wore fur lined leggings and long boots and quite honestly I was toasty and warm!

  2. I have made a lot of wreaths from grape vines, but I've never started totally from scratch! I bet you had such a wonderful time with your daughters and mom. Good times for all! Thanks for the link up!

  3. I had a wreath making evening once. It wasn't a success. It was cold and the women there were in laws of my friend and they all couldn't stand each other. It was a really weird evening, ha ha, and my wreath looked stupid! Good that you had another experience!

  5. I've only made a wreath once, with my college friend probably about 20 years ago! It was quite fun and I kept it for many years. It was a spring one with dried flowers. I love your winter wreath. I bet it really smells beautiful too!
