A Floral dress for Winter - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hello and welcome to the blog.
Thursday came around really quickly for me!

I was literally sitting scrolling through my phone, IG and TikTok last night and suddenly realised I’d not sorted this blog post out!

After my two gym classes yesterday I’m feeling tired and very achy. The first class on a Wednesday morning is Body Attack (anyone do this class?) and it was a new workout and was filed with star jumps, and bouncing on the wrong part of my feet making my calves really sore and so I have ached all the time since doing the class yesterday morning. I reckon it’ll take a couple of weeks to get used to the new routines & then I hope it’ll get a tad easier! 🤞

I’ve been trying to up my Instagram game over the past week and a bit, posting every week day and it’s been great to look at that social platform in a different way. Instead of comparing myself to other accounts, I’m just sharing my daily outfits most of which I shop my wardrobe for.
I’d wanted to wear my latest boots, so picked this dress to style them with. The boots came from my local George store and were in the sale for £15. Now I know I didn’t really need them, but had been wanting a lower heeled knee high boot for a while, I wanted to wear my dresses but didn’t want ankle boots of my older leather pair. These have a ruched effect and are made from imi-suede and are nice and cosy with side zip on the ankle. They sit just below the knee and will look super with all my dresses and skirts so you’ll be seeing these again very soon I’m sure.
I’ve also decided every time I get something new I will get rid of something either to the charity shop or be sold on Vinted - seems a good idea don’t you think? Out with the old and in with the new!

So more about today’s look. As I mentioned already I’d wanted to style my new boots. These have a comfortable low heel that’s easy to wear & still look really stylish. They’re good for everyday wear rather than just for special occasions, so popping out in them yesterday worked a treat and looked very chic.

The dress, which is dark floral has been on the blog before  I wore it to London for my granddaughter’s birthday treat (we went to see Frozen).  It’s a midi style float dress that’s got a crossover bust detail, long sleeves that are quite full and a gypsy style gathered hem. I like that it’s fully lined and covers just about anything you’d want to wear underneath it! I spotted a celebrity wearing PJ’s under her voluminous dress recently which confirmed I’m not the only one that does that! 😂

I’d added a jumper just to make it wearable in the cold. This silky jumper that’s covered in tiny silver balls, came from H & M a few years ago. It came back with me from Abu Dhabi, which was a while back but still wears and washes quite well. I’d also got another layered on under the dress and to be honest I’d be able to wear any kind of top under it and it’ll still look super. Do give it a go and add maybe a roll neck or long sleeve top under a nice summer dress, and if you’re adding a jumper on top, you don’t even have to worry about matching colours!

I’ve wanted to brighten my outfits up lately as they all seemed a bit … erm how shall I put it … dowdy. Now there’s nothing wrong with dowdy but I wanted bright happy colours to make me feel happier about the fact it’s still January, still the middle of Winter and still very bleak out there. Who else likes to brighter things up with a spot of colour splashing? So what better thing to do than add a riot of colour with a handbag?  I’ve got a couple of choices and settled on this long handled bag in bright cerise pink. It’s a fab little bag, that I’ve hardly used and if I leave it in plain sight I’ll be using it again in the near future! Anyone else lose bags and accessories in the various storage spaces us bloggers tend to have?

  1. I love this outfit! I do find that pops of color help so much in these dreary days of winter but they aren't always so easy to find in my closet. It seems like so many of my winter clothes are dark and neutral tones so I'm trying to change that.

  2. I really love this combo: while I have lots of sweaters and gave a few away this year, I haven't had a black one in years and this outfit is making me realize how useful it could be. Now since I am try not to get anything even 2nd hand till March 1st, I am going to just have to put in on a list to look for when I do go thrifting. Lovely outfit!

  7. I love this idea of wearing something over a dress - genius! I have all of the things in my closet to do this myself. Now I just need somewhere to go show myself off, ha ha. Dresses are one of my favorite things. (:

    1. Awe thanks Amy, it was so annoying, and I'm so thankful for your ladies on here for helping me. It was a bug in the adverts, so as you can see I've deleted them, but plan on adding some back soon. x

  9. It's always a good time to buy new boots! I kept thinking this doesn't look like a dress as I was reading, and then you said you'd put a jumper over it! I've only done that once or twice. I rarely look as fantastic as you do! Thanks for the link up!
