How has your week and month been?
With the days being short, dark and damp I've not felt like doing much at all. I've not been into any shops so don't know what new pieces have arrived, although my local city Canterbury is big we don't seem to be one of the first places to receive new styles, they seem to come along a while after I see things posted on Instagram. I've been shopping my wardrobe quite a lot but long to see what's 'new in'.
On Saturday I went to a friend's surprise birthday dinner. His wife had arranged a super meal with 18 of us being served a delicious dinner and she had a table and chairs laid out for all of us! You remember I'm doing 'dry January' so I took a bottle of Nozeco and marvelled the next morning when I had no headache. I'm wondering if this will change my views on drinking and I might just have a tipple at the weekend in February, but I'll see how that goes.
I'm not looking forward to the weekend as Emily, her husband and two kids move out. It's been a super 18 months with them all and I'm going to miss little Max immensely, not to mention my new grand-daughter Violet, it's going to be very weird. My house is going to be very quiet, albeit very tidy, but I know what I prefer to have! Their home, which was a bungalow, has now been extended up making three bedrooms, a bathroom and en suit upstairs, with a big space for a kitchen, dining room and sitting room along with an office, cloakroom and play room/snug. They've got lots of storage and extra space and will be enjoying it all in brand new surroundings! The best part is that it's only 5 minutes down the road, so I'm really excited. x

Today's post is all about feet! As I've got older I realise I very much took for granted my feet. I could walk miles, dance in most shoes, including heels and dance in bare feet and never had any issues. Now I'm older I've gradually noticed they ache most days and I have incredibly sensitive areas that can be hot, achy and cold all in one day. I'm not sure if that could be arthritis because it runs in my family but I find wearing comfortable supportive footwear really makes a difference. I tend to wear lower heeled shoes and sandals now and have turned to wearing trainers quite a lot of the time and fortunately they have proved fashionable for many years now.
A sure fire way to help some foot problems are Orthotics. For those who don't know what they are, they're devices that can be worn in the shoe to help with foot and ankle conditions. They can improve foot function, reduce pain and prevent injuries.
How Orthotics work:
- Stability: Orthotics can provide stability and arch support, which can help with flat feet.
- Cushioning: Orthotics can help cushion your feet, which can reduce stress and pain.
- Weight distribution: Orthotics can help distribute weight more evenly across your foot, which can improve balance.
- Shock absorption: Orthotics can absorb shock and improve motion control.
When Orthotics are recommended.
- Arthritis: Orthotics can help reduce stress and pain in the feet caused by arthritis.
- Plantar fasciitis: Orthotics can help reduce symptoms of plantar fasciiitis, a condition that casuses help pain.
- Flat feet: Orthotics can help alleviate pain and discomfort associated with flat feet.

Before I make way for the linkup I'd like to share a funny story with you. Years ago I took my youngest to the doctor as he was having issues with his feet. He had pains in his feet which were unexplained so they referred him to the Podiatrist! I was a bit shocked and didn't really understand what she was saying. I went home and told my family he was being referred to a dietician! However I'd got it totally wrong and in-fact he merely needed shoe inserts to rectify the problem, I'm pleased to say after wearing the inserts for a couple of years the problem disappeared! He hasn't suffered with any foot problems since.

I’m
I am glad your daughter's family is only moving down the street. I am sure it will feel very strange for it to be so quiet at the house at the beginning! The only issue so far I have had is with a bunion, so I have certain pairs of shoes I enjoy wearing more than others. For some reason, it hasn't bothered me as much lately even though I have been walking a lot.

Oh I can imagine it will feel weird when your daughter and her family move out. But luckily they don't live far away. Love your outfit!
ReplyDeleteAw, I bet it will be weird at first having an empty house but how wonderful to have them so nearby! My oldest son has been earing orthotics and even buying orthopedic sandals for years and it was just suggested to us to try it with my youngest son too who has been having lots of cramping in his calves.
ReplyDeleteOur daughter and her family lived with us a couple of times. The house was so loud for those months, but then so doggone quiet when they were gone. It's nice they will be only 5 minutes away. I do have orthotics for my shoes and wear them when I know I'm going to be walking a lot. I have a surgically created arch in my left foot but just found out I also have severe arthritis in both feet! Lucky me! Thanks so much for the link up!

It'll take a while to get used to your daughter and her family moving out, but it's good that they're very close by. I've found orthotic insoles useful as I have very flat feet. Since having bunion surgery, my right foot is so much better. I'm not looking forward to going through it all again with my other foot but I know it'll be worth it in the long run.
