Metallic Blue Maxi Dress - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hi there,
Welcome to my blog.

I hope I find you well and enjoying February.
The weather has improved over the past week or so and it’s been lovely to actually venture outside to take photos. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll see I’ve taken full advantage of the Winter sun and taken some lovely shots in the road outside my house. It’s always a tad embarrassing doing this isn’t it. I either get lots of questions, funny looks or get ignored! lol!

On Monday’s post I mentioned I’d been to a surprise birthday party and promised to share the dress I wore. Today I’m keeping that promise and showing off a stunning maxi I’d been kindly sent by Izabel London.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

Shirt dresses are such an easy style to work with. They come in a variety of styles and lengths and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I’ve got plenty to choose from in my wardrobe and wear them casually in the day or dressed up for a night out.

I’ve been lucky enough to work with Izabel London on a number of occasions and quite often turn to one or other of their dresses or skirts for lunch dates, shopping or nights out. When I was asked to pick something from their ‘New In’ online section I was spoilt for choice. Should I opt for a typical-for-me shirt dress or try a skirt or top from them!  Well if you guessed shirt dress you were right.

So you know I love a shirt dress, but I’ve told a little white lie about this one. Yes you may have spotted it’s not fully a shirt dress as only the top has buttons, the bottom is a full A Line style skirt. It’s got a slight elastic waistband which is on the back half creating a lovely silhouette that’s rather flattering on. I also really love the puff sleeves which finish at the cuff and boasts tiny gold buttons which are the same as the buttons down the front of the bodice.

It’s got a matching belt, which has got one of those unusual fastenings, not my favourite if I’m honest so I switched it for a stretchy elastic one for the party, but you can see the original here.

The embossed fabric is covered in diamond shapes which flicker as I move about - now isn’t that sparkly for a party, alas no Nan dancing on Saturday I’m afraid! 😂
The electric blue is a metallic & really is quite a striking colour and it got lots of lovely compliments the other night, my only negative is the length. I feel it should be a tad shorter because of the high collar and long sleeves, there wasn’t any way even a small amount of flesh could be seen, so I’m considering shortening it! What do you think? 🤔

Final additions were the clutch bag from my Sarah Hanran bag. The cute little pouch bag has two different gold chains which are two different lengths and a tassels that can be added. I’ve got a porcelain one that matches and a leopard print version which compliments it nicely. Checkout the full post here sharing it.

Do you adore the studded heels? I picked these Valentino dupes up in Dorothy Perkins for a wedding a few years back, they are really comfortable despite the height. I put it down to having the cross over detail on the straps. I’ve got a few pairs like this and they’re all the same and very easy to wear.

  3. I am about to head out in the cold to run with some friends! Next week will be a lot more pleasant. Thankfully, I had taken a lot of blog pictures earlier in December and January so I don't have to brave the wind for pictures. What a lovely dress and your indoor pictures look so great.

  5. This shade of blue is stunning on you, and your legs are a million miles long in the dress. I love the studded heels! I'm a fan of the Valentino dupe studded flats for my own life, but the heels are gorgeous. I take your point about the lack of skin showing, but I'm ambivalent because the long length is so dramatic. I think it's probably a winner either way!
