How are you?
I’m doing okay and have had a super weekend.
It was David’s birthday yesterday so we had the family round. We also welcomed some family and friends throughout the day to celebrate with us with a couple of drinks to boot. We’d decided on having some tapas so David and my youngest daughter Sophie went to the supermarket to buy ingredients to prepare the following delicious dishes! Meatballs in spicy tomato sauce, chorizo & peppers in sherry sauce, tortilla (with and without potato) spicy garlic king prawns, hummus and flat bread, mushrooms in garlic butter and a tasty salad which consisted of peppers, cucumber, red cabbage, spring onions & parsley with a dressing of orange juice, white wine vinegar and olive oil. This was topped with pomegranate seeds and was truly delicious. It really brought everything together and the meal was devoured and I must add enjoyed by all the family!
Today is the last Monday of the month and I’m not sure how that happened, however it’s time to welcome Hilda, Emma and Anna to the stage to share their looks for Style not Age which are based around the prompt ….
Say yes to the Dress.
This beautiful pink maxi has my name written all over it.
I definitely say yes to dresses more often than anything else because I adore wearing them. I nearly always only take dresses away on holiday and weekends away as it’s so much easier to style them. Therefore it’s no surprise I’ve always got a dress or two waiting in the wings for that special occasion. Even though I’ve not got a wedding, christening or special party coming up this year - shame - I’m ever ready with a pretty dress waiting in the wings, therefore I’ll always be able to say “yes” to the dress.
This beautiful pink maxi has my name written all over it. I adore the colour, style, fabric and price and know it’ll look so pretty on and will be really easy to style.
I was lucky enough to win a recent competition with Ambrose Wilson and this slinky maxi was one of my picks. I was obviously drawn mainly to the colour, but the embossed circle pattern caught my eye instantly too. It’s no surprise with the length, as I find maxi’s do so much for my figure, they’re just so satisfying to wear.
Aren’t they sleeves amazing too! The blouson effect really makes a statement and is even more flattering along with keeping me cool. The scoop neck is also a must for me!
Another interesting style addition is the gathered effect on the bust, it gives a nice fullness to the top of the dress thus creating a flattering feminine feel to the outfit. It’s also got a tie detail which I opted to tie on the back but I reckon it could double up to tie on the front as well, where would you tie it?
Last additions were nude heels which helps to elongate my legs and a cream clutch bag which is part of my leather Sarah Hanran bag - do checkout the full range here.
Can we now take a minute to enjoy what my three friends are bringing to the table and first we’ll see what Emma is sharing.
Emma who can be found at Style Splash has chosen this gorgeous outfit which is the trending shade of yellow. This buttery soft pastel yellow looks dreamily cute on and one shade we should all be reaching for.
Anna - Anna’s Island Style picked this stunning orange outfit that came from Vinted. It’s a super colour for the new season much like the red, yellow and pink we’re all styling this month.
Finally Hilda - Over the Hilda opted for a bright positive red ensemble which suits her colouring beautifully. I adore the flattering ruched effect and the length is very elegant.
Thanks very much for joining me today. The ladies and I really appreciate your support.
Catch up on Thursday.
Bye for now. X
